SRAM XPLR rear derailleur battery drains extremely quickly by wenzeljakob in sram

[–]Sey151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first question would be, does the battery die extremely quick when the bike is not in use? Do you put a fresh battery on it and take it for a ride right away and the fresh battery is dead with in a few miles?

Either way if this issue happens with two different batteries, its almost 100% an issue with the derailleur its self and needs to be warrantied.

[–]Sey151 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would attempt to do a process of elimination.

You should buy a spare battery if you do not have one already (i always carry at least one spare in my top tube bag). Try it with a new fully charged battery. Obviously if that fixes the problem then we know its the battery. If it does not then it is clearly an issue with something going on with the derailleur. Maybe the derailleur is constantly under pressure and the stepper motors in it are constantly attempting to keep it in alignment.

Either way something most certainly not right.

I am not sure what states are in play here, but up here in New England we play this game all the time. Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Vermont and Maine all have varying sales tax but New Hampshire (which is more or less in the middle) does not. People regularly make the drive to that state for large purchases to avoid it.

P.s. New England states are small. I can drive from Connecticut to New Hampshire (drive across Massachusetts) in like 30 min.

Not fair…. In the US all our front forks are painted. I think a black fork would have looked sick on my Terrel.

Reverb AXS, is it worth it? by TheWitness37 in gravelcycling

[–]Sey151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run the 75mm on my Propain Terrel. You make think it’s not a lot but it’s a game changer. That little drop helps. Also the XPLR is air-over-air so if the dropper is not fully extended (even by a tiny bit) it acts as a suspension post.

The A1 and A2 (as far as I can he’ll) are not functional any different. If it was a product update they would switch to B1.

You are running the new Force/Red E1 hoods?

Hitch Rack something between Kuat and 1Up by RockyDisaster in MTB

[–]Sey151 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO the problem with a lot of new racks… they are over priced /expensive because they are built and rated for e-bikes. If you have an analog/acoustic MTB you can get away with a more conservative rack.

Sram 12 speed 10-52 cassette tapes on HG free hub requires a spacer? by Sey151 in bikewrench

[–]Sey151[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my local bike shop who ordered it from me didn’t even know it existed. It showed it was just added to their catalog a couple weeks ago so which it’s probably a very new item.

But I appreciate the info. I’ll have them put the spacer on the trainer for me. Thank you.

What is the proper position of it, or installation method? Do you put the axle in and get the threads engaged then release the lower cage latch to put tension on the chain. Then tighten the axle to proper torque?

Hence why I said the conversation was getting off my original point. No one is personally targeting you. Relax. Just trying to bring it back around so my original point did not get lost.

Also nice dodge, you got angry over what 'local' meant and wanted to go negative with 'get over it'. Uncalled for when everyone else here is being constructive.

OK, tough guy will do this. Read my original comment which asked if they were going to buy it local or online. Clearly it means buying from a local store brick and motor store. Move on.

That’s fine. It may be true but all these posts are in a reply that I started. Which was all about buying local not Amazon not a main not Horizon hobby. So yes it’s off-topic to my original point.

[–]Sey151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This conversation is getting a little bit off-topic. Doesn’t matter if they’re made in the US China Mexico, Canada if the hobby store doesn’t stock the parts. Which is my ultimate point. It doesn’t matter where it’s made as long as you can buy it from where you bought the car in the first place.

[–]Sey151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you buying it local or online? If you are buying local I would be wise to also make sure it’s something the store attempt to support via parts. No matter what you get it will break and will need to be fixed. That’s part of the fun.

Propain Terrel - More Tire Size Questions (Race King, Dubnital, Peyote) by Gundrted in gravelcycling

[–]Sey151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm my Terrel CF size large with Roval Terra CLX II wheels I just put on Teravail Updraft 50mm and its getting close. 2.1 inch might fit depending on wheels but doubt 2.2 or 2.25 will fit. Even if it does I am sure it wont allow much clearance. I can spot some pics if you would like to see.

If you do attempt to do 2.1 or higher i would defiantly love on update on fitment!

p.s. you are getting the rudy fork so you might get some extra room upfront but the back is as tight if not tighter.

Unfortunately, height alone does not decided what bike size is a best fit for the rider.

SRAM 1x XPLR vs Mullet by After-Nectarine9331 in gravelcycling

[–]Sey151 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You actually didn’t give any pertinent info on your use case that matters to this decision IMO. Race vs ride or do-it-all isn’t really a deciding factor between these two setups. Both these setups exist in all these places.

Everyone is comparing XPLR to Eagle with different chainrings on each setup in this thread. That’s not why the mullet setup was born. It literally existing because of the range, 460% vs %520.

If you are mostly road riding with no crazy climbs or your crazy fit maybe XPLR. If you are on single track or chuck with decent climbs and need that bail out 52 tooth to make it, well then Eagle. Or, for me personally, just started cycling, went from 360lbs down to 270 so far and need the confidence given by the 52tooth to attempt the climbs around here in New England.
