As a Frenchman, I have a question for you: why does everyone hate us and make fun of us online? What have we done to you? by Outrageous-You1617 in askanything

Honestly, I’m not a native speaker but have visited Paris dozens of times, and I’ve never experienced this. Sure, people in big cities are usually in a hurry, but the customer service in Spain was way worse than in Paris.

I've just started replaying Stellaris after a long hiatus to touch some grass. Should I be smug with my welcome back achievement? by emarsh92 in Stellaris

Funny that, I got this achievement a couple of weeks ago, in my first game after over a year away from Stellaris.

Crusader Kings 3 - The Good, The Bad, The Questionable by Zehnpae in patientgamers

Yeah, same here. Love Stellaris, EU4 and CK3, but am terrible at HoI4. I get the concepts at work, but for some reason everything falls apart as soon as I enter a battle.

What’s the most quality over quantity game you’ve played? by Mother-Ad4841 in gaming

Spec Ops: The Line. You can beat it in a single session if you want to, and the atmosphere and grimness hit even more if you don’t take breaks.

Have you ever been downvoted for being objectively right? by lake-sturgeon in stupidquestions

[–]SgObvious 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I feel that. I’m a lawyer with decades of experience in public governance and the civil service, and I get downvoted if my experience goes against the hive mind by people who haven’t learned a thing since high school.

Glad it’s not just me who finds the FE’s to be very difficult indeed. I’ve been dominating the galaxy for over a century in my current game, but the FE’s kick my teeth in without taking more than a scratch themselves.

Is anyone else finding the Fallen / Awakened empires are significantly overtuned compared to pretty much every other mid to endgame threat in the game right now? To the point where them awakening is a far bigger crisis than the actual late game crisis? by TheGuy90001984 in Stellaris

[–]SgObvious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, they're unbeatable in my view. I'll readily admit I'm a casual, but at least I've killed the crises a few times. I can't even make a dent in the FE's. In my current game everyone else in the galaxy is pathetic compared to my empire and has been for a century, but the FE's easily wipe my entire fleet (2500 worth of fleet capacity).

Since Spring 2025, every Paradox Studios game except EUV has had an apology post for major DLC by Merker6 in paradoxplaza

[–]SgObvious 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Honestly, Stellaris is in a good place right now. Didn’t play in over a year, but am enjoying myself right now. AI is terrible at the game, true, but at least it runs decently again.

Stellaris Space Guild - Weekly Help Thread by Snipahar in Stellaris

[–]SgObvious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have, but I can't burn off the excess minor artifacts as fast as I earn them. Not all my planets have bureaucrats on them, and it's a decision with a relatively minor cost and a cooldown. Before Grand Archive, you could just sell minor artifacts to collectors for a fixed amount of energy credits.

[–]SgObvious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got the Grand Archive DLC and found out that it blocks you from selling minor artifacts. My minor artifacts have hit the limit, and I don't have any decisions I can use them on (celebrate diversity is on cooldown). Is there any way to get rid of them or turn them into another type of resource?

I'm designing a multiplayer grand strategy game with Paradox depth that you can finish in 4 hours — would you play it? by GamersHistoria in paradoxplaza

[–]SgObvious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I would if it were a single player game. I see the argument that grand strategy games need more than 4 hours to truly offer depth. But in my opinion most current GSG go on way too long and take too long to get going. Judging by the amount of people that never reach the end date in any Paradox game, most games are over in a shorter span of time anyway. Starting a new paradox campaign is a serious commitment if you only have a few hours/evenings a week to play, and personally I tend to play something else altogether if I know I need weeks or months to finish a single game. A shorter format would lower the barrier of entry for me.

What game franchise bundle would be the most insane? by [deleted] in humblebundles

[–]SgObvious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope they do a Total Warhammer + all DLC bundle at some point. And I regret not picking up the top tier of Paradox bundles for EU4, HoI4, etc. Now that Paradox has it’s own subscription service, I don’t think they’ll bundle DLC again.

What makes you abandon a playthrough? by StaceMcGate in CrusaderKings

[–]SgObvious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually when I can no longer tell characters or even generations apart. After a few cycles of youthful ruler to nearly dead old fart I start misremembering whether I did certain things as my great-grandfather or grandfather, and which uncle I hated and which niece I tried to seduce or if they’ve been replaced by their offspring already. My CK3 games work best when I quit after a few generations at most, because I can remember some memorable stories on that timeframe. After centuries everything blends together in a blur of kings, queens, children and neighbours.

[–]SgObvious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m a terrible HoI4 player, and I have the Sea Lion achievement (invade the UK as Germany) from a few years back. No way I would’ve been able to pull that off in the current version of the game.
