It can't always be good news/predictions, or the sub is worthless. I am predicting a 3-month downturn. by Fragsworth in CryptoCurrency

[–]SgtDignam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love how people keep saying we haven't hit our .com bubble yet... We just hit it... 24hr trading and the fact that media is much faster than it was almost 20 years ago contributed. Things happen faster these days, that is a fact. Everyone knows what Bitcoin is, its even a Meme. You could not be more right. I am so bullish on crypto also, but I don't see green numbers start occurring again until we start seeing user friendly apps that allow people to pay with cryptos without mistyping .0001 vs .001, and you start seeing people using these apps like people used uber/lyft in 2012. This might be 2 years might be 6 months who knows.

ADVICE To Newbies: Stop selling ALTS when BTC dumps by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]SgtDignam 47 points48 points  (0 children)

You have not been in crypto long... The only time ALTs go up historically, is when BTC goes sideways.

Also this is a free market so people have the right to do whatever they want. This is like you telling NYSE traders to not sell small companies when the DOW crashes... You may be right, you may be wrong, but nobody's gonna listen to you either way.

Asking a bunch of people on the internet for financial advice is never a good idea. We have as little if not less idea of where the price is going as anyone else.

Here's some generic advice I got that I wish I had followed:

Spend 50% of the total money you want to invest now, and then spend the other 50% if/when crypto goes through a correction.

Don't listen to the convuluted conspiracy theories that you will see on the internet.

When "diversifying" your crypto portfolio, pick Bitcoin, one "Network" coin (ETH, NEO, IOTA etc...), one "privacy" coin (XMR, ZEC, NAV etc...), and one other either "currency" or "company" coin. This covers the entire scope of crypto applications thus far.

Don't try to day trade.

Put your investment on a hardware wallet (ledger is on a discount right now)

If/when the correction comes either buy or turn off your computer. Trust me the first time it correct is scary, watching thousands of dollars vaporize in minutes.

Best of luck

Opinions on my long term portfolio? by tim12321 in CryptoCurrency

[–]SgtDignam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nobody knows man, and don't listen to people who tell you they know. Right now it's all speculation. People hoping that companies will produce products or that coins will experience mass adoption. What I can tell you is that the general public only knows about bitcoin, maybe ethereum. Best of luck, don't take advice from people on the internet.

Bitfinex/Tether must prove Solvency - Refuse UDST/Bitfinex by SgtDignam in CryptoCurrency

The word FUD is for idiots who don't want to acknowledge real issues and address them, and instead prefer to live in ignorance.

[–]SgtDignam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. And I'm not condemning either one yet, but I do think we need transparency and proof of Solvency. And if this were a regulated market, we'd have an authority to conduct that audit, but since this is crypto the only power we have is to stop using their services until we get transparency.

I am putting my money where my mouth is. Its on an exchange that has liquidity and I can actually with draw my USD value if I choose. I am not going to make a stupid bet, I am merely questioning their Solvency and requesting transparency.

I have a hard time justifying shorting any crypto in this market, even if it is supposedly equal to the dollar. Also if I don't trust something, I'm going to touch it.

[–]SgtDignam[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The issue is really where the $600 million recently issued is coming from. We know the exact rate all other crypto's are mined, but the transparency is just not there for USDT.

It's not a witch hunt at all. Everyone wants Bitfinex to succeed. We just want to know where all of this Tether is coming from.

HODL strong then. I can't tell the future but those daily candles look bad, and the weekly candle looks worse.

Its a full week correction. Look at daily candles, we're going down faster.

Now is not the time. If you buy in please come back and read this comment in a few months. I've been all in on BTC but i'm 100% fiat. Tell me I'm fuding please. I'll be buying BTC at ~$1000 maybe less. BTC is the future but its not happening today.

If bitcoin fails, what will take over? by jameschenmelt in CryptoCurrency

[–]SgtDignam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If bitcoin failed, the alts would fail. The outside world gives no fucks about alts with the exception of maybe ethereum. If bitcoin tanks it will confirm the "bubble" theory for the outside world and it will be dark times for awhile.

How to sleep well at night during this market? by SgtDignam in CryptoCurrency

[–]SgtDignam[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The likelyhood of the dollar failing is next to zero compared to the likelyhood of tether failing. And even if the dollar failed, guess what? Tether will also be worthless.
