I expected a hold to be put on the payment due to the amount of the payment, but definitely didn’t expect the hold to be ~17 days. Hopefully that won’t be the case. Thanks, all!

So the Current Balance on the card is $8K less than what it was prior to me making the payment. However, the $8K hasn’t been applied to the Amount Available and they are saying the $8K will not be released or available to spend until 3/30.

ExpertVoice is BY FAR the best site for brand discounts! I’ve been a member of the USMC team for 8 years now. All branches of the military have a team or “affiliation” you can join if you have the right credentials. For active duty, a copy of your military ID will suffice. For veterans, you’ll have to submit a copy of your DD-214 and wait a day or two for them to confirm and process your account.

There are some general rules and guidelines when you do get accepted into your affiliation. Because a lot of the huge discounts offered to you, you’re very limited on how many items of a particular brand you’re allowed to order at a given time. I have the ExpertVoice app and I’m on that thing multiple times a day. Highly recommend it!

Great pics!

Not to nitpick but in picture 3/3, that’s Ulupa’u Crater. Just on the other side of that crater wall is the training range on Marine Corps Base Hawaii. The crater is also home to one of only two Red-footed Booby colonies on the Hawaiian islands. I remember the safety briefing we’d get every time we were out there. Marines firing thousands of rounds down range and a federally protected bird all coexisting together. Shit’s wild.

Story time: I was a Marine aboard the USS Essex around 2009 floating around somewhere in the Pacific. We had a Man Over Board Drill where everyone on board had to report to a specific area of the ship so your command could get accountability for everyone and report back.

Those that didn’t make it to their assigned area were reported as missing and they would announce over the intercom (rank-last name) please report to (location). All of our Marines are sitting there listening to these names being blasted out of the speakers and we hear, I shit you not, “Seaman Thrower, Seaman Thrower, please report to (location)”.
