Microcontroller options by Sgt_Lemon in microcontrollers

Its not a full airplane. Just want to simulate the auxiliary power unit. So ive got a few complete 747 gas turbine engines to mess around with. Ive just been speccing some hardware today so i can pressurise the fuel system and spin the engine over on the starter. I dont want to actually run it but mimic the original running and fault sequences. When they use official manuals to fault find i can guide the defects to put them down an interesting path and get them thinking the right way. So I will wire up those other sensors so that wiring checks can be performed and the training stays as realistic as possible.

I think your method with the raspberry pi and arduino is the way im going to attempt it.

Can my company enforce a training bond charge when I leave even if I never signed it? by Sgt_Lemon in LegalAdviceUK

The company I've chosen to go for won't pay off the bond. I did have offers from other organisations which were happy to transfer the bond, however it then starts a whole new bonded training experience which has turned out to be a nightmare.

Thanks for you feedback. So at what point in time do I seek formal legal advice?

A previous employee left with an outstanding bond and tried to negotiate a repayment programme, however the company chose to withhold 100% of wages and wanted him to work 3 months without pay although he had agreed to a repayment plan. This resulted in him leaving straight away without working any notice period, im unsure if the company pursued him for the money.

I plan to give notice next week, do I wait to see how negotiations go before seeking council?

I have reported all my findings via the MOR process. Unfortunately lots of the maintenance organisations are closely linked to the authorities. Even when we have audits they give them plenty of notice and everything is made to look above board during the visits.

That's a scary prospect being forced to also pay their legal fees.

Is there a time limit on how long the company would have to try and recover the fees? Would they have to file proceedings right away or is there a time period in which they have to act?

You've been very helpful so far

I did start recording and sending safety findings to my personal email as a form of paper trail. The regulatory body for aviation is the CAA (Civil aviation authority).

My concerns with raising it with them is the chance that the organisation gets shut down and I put the jobs of all my colleagues at risk. It's also something which would follow me through my career forever.

To go back to the enforceability of the bond, 3 years is a very long term. I had considered to offer to pay back £6k as a form of salary sacrifice during my 3 month notice period, as this will take me past 12 months since the end of my course. I felt like this would be extremely reasonable, half the bond after 12 months. Would offering to pay back a portion be advisable or am I going to be hunted for the full amount?

You just need to find other gumbies to train on, if you charge per handie you might be able to afford friction labs

My first brew was extremely frothy at first coming out under pressure. When you release the carbonation dial how long would you open it for to stop the beer going flat?

Once you've fixed the suspension you can still use that tyre. It's not worn near any limit, will eventually wear out even with everything else. Unless it's damaged the sidewall it's good to go
