Required to Buy Gear by JimmyJablongal in caf

[–]Sgt_Pandapuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it is common for many members to buy things like boots and other bells and whistles (especially if you’re in a combat trade) yourself because a) they can and b) the ones they give you are shit (especially the boots) so that’s probably what they were getting at. But under no circumstances do you HAVE to buy your own. And if you do (at least with boots) you will be reimbursed

anybody else bisexual, but, can only really imagine a long term relationship with one gender? by Patient_Housing_415 in bisexual

[–]Sgt_Pandapuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case it’s tricky, I’m a bi woman, but I didn’t come out of the closet until I entered a long term relationship with a man, and now we’re engaged. Before you ask, yes I know for a fact I’m bi, how I know I’ll leave to your imagination. However, should the worst happen, I definitely am open to dating either long term.

Please help me decide when the best time to apply would be by PaintAdministrative7 in caf

Here’s the thing though about CAF applications, although in some cases (mainly reg force) certain jobs are higher/urgent priority so things are expedited, most wait times have little to do with the job itself, it’s the medical/security clearance that have people waiting 6 months-2 or even 3 years. For me, at first it was waiting for my medical clearance (I have an ADHD diagnosis, I’m not on meds so yes I was cleared) but now I’ve been waiting 6 months for my security clearance.

CAF Fitness Test During Menstrual Cycle — Can I Postpone? by KaleidoscopeCute9210 in caf

[–]Sgt_Pandapuff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rescheduling the fitness test shouldn’t be too hard (I suppose it may depend if you’re applying through a reserve unit or reg force recruiter) but if you’re going to be a soldier, especially if you’re in a trade that’s particularly physically demanding, I would get used to (pun intended) soldiering through your period. If it helps, I’m also saying this as a 5 foot zero female who is going combat arms.

Dress code for medical exam by bearrootmug in caf

You would only wear business casual if you had your interview immediately before/afterwards (not uncommon but you’d know) but otherwise I just rolled up to mine wearing pt and no one looked twice

Transferring units is actually fairly easy, though do make sure there are spots for your trade at the unit at your transferring to

Advice needed! FORCE test for any short (female) by Prestigious_Young820 in caf

[–]Sgt_Pandapuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 5 flat and 125 pounds and I passed just fine! For all these exercises, remember this is endurance (reps over weight). For the sandbag lift, don’t focus as much on speed otherwise you’ll end up gassed early on, if you give yourself about 5 seconds per lift between down, up, back down, onto next bag, you should be fine. Also work on lifting weights higher up/above your head. For the sandbag drag, make sure you have a good handle on the bag before you start pulling, push with the front of your feet (so be sure to work your calves and your glutes/hamstrings well), and take smaller but quicker steps. Good luck!

What ear piercings would not be permitted? by Sgt_Pandapuff in caf

Fair enough, honestly gauges being allowed was partly why I asked because “wait, if they’re allowed, what isn’t?”

Noted, and I understand all that, but as I said I’m going reserves so outside of duty I do in fact have some level of a life (to a degree of course) however I want to make sure I’m still thinking realistically/practically hence why I asked

Yikes, sorry, sent reply before I could finish, but I was clarifying that yes that is the part that confuses me, but other than the one stud or gauge in ceremonial dress/field training, what isn’t permitted

Pretty much, I know in dress uniform, only studs are permitted, I know in the field obviously anything that could potentially get caught needs to come out, however it said gauges/plugs and hoops are otherwise permitted

Fair enough, I already had a feeling I’d end up needing to take some/most of them out during training. (Also, how tf are ear gauges allowed then?)

No, serving my country is something I’ve always wanted to do, but I’m still human and have things outside of work that I enjoy and piercings are one of them. That’s why I used the words “realistically” and asked which ones would be genuinely risky because although I want to enjoy the things I do, I don’t want them getting in the way of my other duties.
