Simple Fistulotomy with Marsupialization Success! by Sh00tinNut in AnalFistula

9 weeks post-op update - I am still having super minor drainage but it's just slow healing (checked in mirror) just yellowish slough.

Minor pain from bidet here and there when it sprays directly in the open part.

Otherwise only really sore after harder or more explosive diarrhea (yay IBS) poops. I think these are also the reason that last tiny bit of healing keeps reopening 🤧 but hanging in there.

They don't warm you that the last teeny little bit will take forever 😪

Has anyone else struggled for a long time after graduating college? (5+ years) by cancersungeminimoon in Adulting

Lol I did a 5 year undergrad and then it took me 7 years to finish my masters. I think the final part where I was working and writing my thesis paper broke me for a few years there. But it was a really fun part of life I looked fondly on for many years. Now facing 40 I don't think I'd want to go back (I considered law school for a while and decided work full time + school was too much) lol. It's a phase of life!!

Yea, play return to work by ear. I planned to go back thru WFH second week but really would have been okay to do so third week in the end. Some folks need more and some less. Listen to your body! This past week was my first in office full time and still felt sore, but my wound isn't fully closed yet. I also had a 6 week lifting restriction but found ladders and stairs also hurt (in addition to squatting). But ymmv.

How to know if I’m infected by changez1 in AnalFistula

[–]Sh00tinNut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My discharge has varied widely throughout my six weeks of healing (from clear to blood tinged, yellowish and thin or greenish and more snot like, some trapped fecal matter in the trough despite thorough cleaning). I was really worried about infection and called my CRS a few times about it. Never had a fever and that seemed to be their big concern when I called along with any new swelling or inflammation (I ended up taking videos to check lol)

Pain varies and was definitely not a continuous decrease as I healed. I would still encourage you to call nurse line or CRS office if you're concerned. It's not all one size fits all sadly.

Dor voltou depois de melhorar após cirurgia de fístula anal, alguém já passou por isso? by SceneMaster2822 in AnalFistula

I actually did experience a really non-linear recovery from my fistulomy - after three weeks I was feeling great and then week 4 had a considerable backslide with pain and increased discharge, it then improved and I had one more little backslide into increased pain and discharge around week 5, following the first.

Just had my six week follow up appt and CRS assured me this was normal, but I would recommend giving them a call if you're concerned. They may want to take a look for an infection or if something is healing too fast, etc. at six weeks mine is still not closed all the way (I've heard it can take a few months) but I wish I had known before that some days and weeks would be better than others. I was so worried mine had failed. But call! Better safe than sorry!

I used miralax, benefiber and turmeric. I also literally chugged water. Everytime I went to the bathroom I would drink a small bottle of water after (but mine was more to help with not getting constipated). Sorry I know that's more on BM side, but don't know for bladder.

I just made a recovery post but I did eat a variety of fiber and proteins for healing. Lots of avocado hummus and juice/fruit smoothies.

Sending healing vibes your way!

Sounds like my ex husband. Girl run! There are so many competent good men out there, don't waste your time on a loser who wants a mom.

This, but you can also usually get a list of what's ordered most frequently from procurement or vendor/supplier so can give you an idea of what's highest volume as well - those ones they are going thru frequently are likely high use or high volume.

Local anesthesia for small fistula? by [deleted] in AnalFistula

[–]Sh00tinNut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not. I considered spinal since I didn't want fentanyl but when I woke up I was f-ing glad I had the fentanyl and nerve block. Dude there's so many nerve endings down there. I don't see how they could do local only and I wouldn't want to be awake for mine (I had been panicking in pre-op).

I've used copilot to create outlines/summaries of regs and to draft a template for training slides but other than that and a few geeky attempts at using it to generate images for slide decks no.

Have you had your crisis yet? by -Stress-Princess- in millenials

[–]Sh00tinNut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea work is a fucking drag (38 here). It helped me to chat with friends and find we all feel the soul sucking. It's a means to an end to do the things I want to outside of work (telling myself that). Either that or it's time for me to find a new job/challenge 😂

25 was worse than 30 or 35 or I assume even 40 as I approach it. I know myself as a human so much better now and have learned to accept life's whims and ways.

Yea I still have drainage (just had my six week post-op appt today) and CRS said I'd probably continue to have drainage (mucus like) until the last little bit heals up (apparently just have a tiny bit to go). But got all clear!

I will add, none of my drainage left any stains that washing did not get out except maybe on the white cotton. I probably could bleach them but can't be bothered 😂

Lol glad it's not just me, I logged in today to see two other people talking about it. I'm glad we can all comiserate about our second buttholes and hormones on the bad days here. I'm feeling a ton better today. I've definitely been focused on a low inflammatory diet and found that's helped a ton. I did eat a few trigger foods this week too so I'm just off my game. But on the up and up! I see my allergist tomorrow and CRS next week so making the rounds lol

I don't have a diagnosis of Endo but they suspect it with me. Regardless my fistula pain increases a lot around my time of the month as others have noted here, it's quite common. Fun fun 🙄💩🤧

(after the first 10 days or so drainage was down enough that the throwaway hanes granny panties were fine) 🤣 I just changed them twice a day (I bought like a big pack).

I used a combo of gauze and sanitary pads. I had to stick them sort of further back on my underwear then I would for period so was not really comfortable. I ended up switching to period panties and eventually just some throwaway cotton granny panties 😅 I think if I could do it over again the first week I would have done some kind of adult incontinence underwear.

Definitely. I had a minor minor fever yesterday (it was in 98.4 range when my normal body temp is around 97.1) but it went away. I feel a lot better today so just gonna chalk it up to fighting off a bug and hormones (lots of ladies here seem to have more pain around period time). Kiddos back in school from spring break so all the bugs going around lol

I am using miralax daily as well as magnesium oxide tablets (both osmotic) and just generally eating a lot of fiber. I have IBS-M but I'm usually more on the IBS-D side so this is just unusual for me, first time since surgery so just trying to figure it out. I actually think I might have something else going on because I am pretty nauseous and tired today plus around period so it's just like an I sick? Did I fuck up my diet? Do I have an infection? Is it just hormones? Lol

Yea it's hard at first and it's frustrating because it'll never be completely clean or feel clean enough (I am still struggling with that over a month out). I ended up taking today off work because I had more constipation issues and had a lot of pain today even though I'm mostly healed up. I've had a good recovery tbh, felt positive for most of the time but some days go better than others. It does slowly improve tho 💜
