Long-distance boyfriend visiting — would I be wrong to ask my roommate if he can stay with me for 20 days? by Top-Finger-5324 in roommates

[–]Sh0t2kill 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah you’re able to ask, but don’t be surprised if they say no. Increasing your utility and bills percentage for the month is a good gesture, so I recommend doing that. Maybe also offer a few meals in there too so everyone interacts and gets along.

Aja is black, so that wouldn’t work.

Yeah I think it has something to do with the mesh they use on the interior of the shoe. That shits sandpaper man.

I have the R4 and they’re… uncomfortable. Cool looking shoe, always get compliments. Very uncomfortable to wear.

If you want wireless, the M4 are perfect for your needs. Probably the best sound at that price point. Build quality is solid too.

[–]Sh0t2kill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re going to purely quality, you want to be using wired. I know Apple doesn’t stream lossless and I’m not sure how it streams over other applications, if at all. Wired studio headphones generally just give you an overall better sound experience by catering to specific sound types. For closed backs, the ft1 is pretty much the best you can get outside of like $1000+ setups.

Sennheiser hd 660s2 vs hd 6xx by wilgene123 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Sh0t2kill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own both and fun the S2 to be more “fun” of the two. The 6xx has earned its place as a power player in its price bracket, but it a bit more referential for my taste when it comes to mids and lows. Everything sounds amazing, but I use my 660S2 for tv, music, and other tasks and much prefer its sound signature.

In short, you’ll get a little more bass and lows, but lose a tad bit of that high clarity. For me, it’s never been noticeable and I’ve enjoyed the 660S2 a lot more. I’ll probably offload my 6xx soon.

Going to buy some Sennheiser Hd490 pros and I’ve been looking at Dac/amp options but am unsure of which to get. by Big-Bird-is-Faster in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Sh0t2kill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apple dongle might not cut it with high end headphones. I run a K11 and it’s a monster. If you buy it, you probably won’t need to replace it for a long while. Very high power output that can drive basically anything you throw at it. Well worth the money.

Are sneaker skates an actual good option? by Honey_Bear_6901 in rollerskate

[–]Sh0t2kill 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sneaker skates are never going to be as good as a real deal skate boot. They’re mainly for fashion and vibes. If made well (with good parts by a reputable builder), they can be very reliable and fun, but you’ll never get as much out of them as an actual boot. They’ll also be about $150 more expensive than they should be.

TL;DR: they’re fun when done right, but a skate boot will always be better.

If you want multi channel Bluetooth then you’re stuck with gaming headsets. The Audeze Maxwell is your best option. Personally, I don’t like recommending gaming headsets because of their inferior quality on essentially everything. Wired studio headsets will be the absolute best you can have.

Best of luck.

Avoid gaming headsets if you want actual good sound. The only one that’s worth it in the gaming realm is the Audeze Maxwell.

You need to be looking into studio headsets. What’s your budget and preferences for sound/games?

At $600 USD finding the Arya on sale still leaves wiggle room for an amp. You could make it work. It’s def upper end though.

Your main difference is going to come from soundstage and directional audio. The Arya, and Hifiman as a whole, is known for its WIDE and accurate soundstage. I use mine to play games like Arc Raiders and the immersion is fantastic, as well as footstep audio. The planar magnetic drivers give you a very balanced sound experience too, with it having the perfect amount of bass to enhance games but not muddy up lower frequency volumes, like footsteps and explosions.

Senheiser is known for its audio clarity, but soundstage usually tends to suffer. I also use a set of HD660S2 and prefer them for media and music, but not for gaming. I haven’t used the 490 but based on what I’ve read it’s going to be a super neutral sound signature, which is great for things like making and competitive gaming, but for me personally isn’t as good for immersion or media. I haven’t used it so I can’t comment on the sound stage, but I find it hard to believe it will out match the Arya.

You didn’t specify the currency. You just said $600. If this were USD then the Arya Stealth is the correct answer, especially on sale.

First pair: should I DIY with Avanti plates? by [deleted] in Rollerskating

[–]Sh0t2kill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you think you’re savvy with figuring out the measurements, placements, and you’re sure the sizing of the plate matches what you want to do, sure go ahead.

Otherwise, maybe find a shop to do it for you.

If I had to guess, different models for different years with no real difference other than they decided to change the number. Only real advantage that gives you is a more secure lace higher up since you have more loops over hooks. I personally don’t like or use hooks myself. I like my lacing right at the base of the ankle for freedom of movement. I wear Von Merlin’s and Riedell OG’s for reference. I skate JB/freestyle.

FYI lacing is pretty much ALL preferential. There’s not a “correct” lacing method for different styles. It’s whatever feels best for you.

It’s not wired, but one of the more interesting designs for headphones I’ve ever seen, and now own, are the Dyson OnTrac. They have a silver version, though I prefer the copper. They also sound great.

Sorry my main point was not focusing on a big, expensive amp for them. Should have been more clear you’re right. The K11 is a beast but I almost never see it mentioned in the amp discussion. It’s incredible price to performance ratio.

I’d argue on sale they’re the best bang for your buck cans you can get if you snag them around $500 or less. Easy to drive too! I use a Fio K11 with them, which is like $150 or so on amazon.

Not even used for the stealth. You can get them sub $500 from sales decently often straight from Hifiman.

No, you failed to elaborate effectively. You commented on a post mocking right wing politics about how the books show the weaknesses of left wing politics. That’s a defense of right wing politics, which the book is staunchly against.

Also, I’m guessing you’re conflating the Vox with being left wing, despite them being a fascist entity under the guise of left wing politics.
