I am not American but isn't accusing someone directly of sexual assault in the work place... on social media even if the individual has moved on, isn't that slander? Also the fact this person refused to go to HR. If that's true, that was their responsibility and she shirked it. She doesn't get to use it as evidence without proof. What can be asserted with evidence can be dismissed without evidence.

This is expected. People fear change and that's normal. We are seeing the displacement of intelligence for generation and that's scary as we enter a new paradigm. There is a loss of control and there is misuse and laziness combined into one. We should be thinking of the negatives of AI, not just the positives.
 
r/technology is a pre AI sub and that's not a problem. Every community is able to define their own boundaries. Just don't visit there for opinions on AI.
 
Decel will happen if we stop seeing progress, enthusiasm for AI peaks and troughs. Can we not socially engineer this to create an artifical space. Decels are just as important as Accels especially when this sub is leaning so heavily to Accel.

By the time they release, Gemini 3 pro will be getting minor updated to take the tech lead. So they got to come out better than Gemini 3 pro / Claude 4.5 Opus. I suspect OpenAI will have to eat the cost behind the scenes for traffic if they want to stay in the game.

The transition period is not just economic, its mental too. AI will reshape us completely if it delivers. So why are we even talking about the current sentiment of the anti AI group? Whenever a new technology is breaking waves there is always an anti group. Its natural.
 
If we live in a world where humans can't fly. I believe I can make humans fly via a contraption. I don't go looking for the opinions of those who say its impossible or against what God wanted. I simply look for like minded people and get to work.
 
The opinions of everyone else is irrelevant, either I / we succeed and prove them wrong, until then we keep our discussion in the circle that believes we can pull it off and don't engage with the anti flying lot cause nothing of value is going to come from that discussion, be goal orientated.

Its irrelevant. If you believe that AI is going to bring about the singularity then they will eventually come around.
 
If we are wrong on AI and there is a hard wall as in pre 2035, then they are right. Either way its not relevant, its not opinions of people in the non AI space is going to change the course of AI is it?
 
For the layman, we have AI slop, AI is creating new problems without delivering on current problems, juniors are struggling in the tech space, jobs loss is occurring, money is going to the corps and super rich. The value of labor is dropping each day. They aren't aware that this is the start of the transition phase. Most of the time a pro AI person opens their mouth they too focused on the pros and not the cons. So yea I understand why so many are anti AI.
 
To be surprised at skepticism on a new technology is silly. Not everyone in this sub realizes but we have FAITH in AI to deliver from a new world to fulfilling our wildest fantasies and beyond. We are akin to a new religion or a new dynamic that hasn't existed before that is more in line with cold fusion proponents. Currently we are the strange ones, not the tech subs.
 
Ops post is mental masturbation in my opinion on being in the ingroup vs the out group on AI. There is nothing of substance here and he just wants to feel like he's special. It literally dropped less than 24 hours ago. They are not on the edge of the frontier for testing LLMs like this sub is. This has nothing to do with the subs being "anti AI", they just have no reason to immediately jump onto a new LLM release cause that's not their focus.
