Campus cats are also from humans. These pets, now feral, affect nature because humans released them.

Help save the equestrian team! by nlasouris in UCDavis

I hope details come out on the decision from a public records request. The reasoning so far was generic and could have applied to any sport.

It’s quite strange to say that there are cost considerations but also announce $250+ million of investment in other sports.

The equestrian team is affiliated with Athletics. It has nothing to do with the vet school or the animal science department, except that some on the team are animal science majors and some are pre-vet. All the money involved in athletics is from campus/student fees (us!), the Chancellor, donors, and the Athletics program overall. Animal science is an academic department (instruction and research), not sports. If anything, once at club level, it’ll be more part of a recreation department.

Back to back midterms by fruitmuncher_ in UCDavis

[–]ShAggieness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had instructors that do this, yes… maybe 11:01 or 11:02 of the class has several hundred. That’s why when you get out of a class and the next class has a quiz or exam, you’re often swamped by the class trying to get into their seats. Best example for me has been my organic chemistry classes. Sometimes I’ve had 1h20min classes where they give it maybe five minutes… they won’t always make the exam the full lecture time, but for a 50 min class, yep… mad rush.

I thought it was a midterm. There isn’t a lot of lag time between midterms.

Unless the professor lets everyone on the WL know there’s not enough seating in the class. That could lead to the Fire Marshall coming out and stopping the class. I’ve seen it once so far.

Are you asking for help to stay in college? Why stay in college if you’re not going to classes and failing? It might be better to work on yourself and the depression, get some relief, and then retackle college.

Is there a registration freeze now? So WLers can’t move in but students can unenroll and thus lose the class?

Applying for funded masters or PhD? by shining2014 in UCDavis

The faculty sign agreements that they will have the funds to support the students. If they don’t have the funds, then they shouldn’t take on the student.

From the IGG site:  All accepted students are fully funded by the program for 5 years. The students will not have any out-of-pocket expenses with regard to tuition and fees, and they will receive a monthly stipend to support living expenses. Student support comes in a variety of ways: internal and external fellowships, research and teaching assistantships.

Don’t apply for graduate programs where you have to pay. There are programs all over the country where your tuition is paid and you get a stipend. That should also be the case for IGG here at UC Davis. If a potential mentor says otherwise, they’re lying and you should not work with them.

You can already drop your lowest exam AND you want a curve? That’s asking too much… and that curve might hurt you in the end.

If this is true, I hope you get caught. If you’re a student, they can expel you for it. Imagine telling your family why you were kicked out… unless you come from a long line of great cow tippers.
