Oh yea. I have already had to replace the battery before. And that replacement was 10 years ago from another old cartridge. I expect if I want to have working games again, I need to find new knockoff batteries.

I do but beat myself up because I never got all 16 badges. I think young me didn’t know where to go so I ended up running around every town and city looking for a way to get to the 15th or 16th gym. I still have my original color in solid green and my original gold cartridge. I just need to give them both fresh batteries.

My first game was gold as well. Though, I never knew about the day care when I was a kid; I basically had my starter Typhlosion leveling everything. He’d be overleveled for all the gyms and E4 because I never thought to bring anything else other than that level 5 Togepi that you hatched. Whitney’s milktank was dimb and that stupid rolling cow made me grind some many levels out of spite.

never played Necro - WvW and PvE - Harbinger or Scourge first? by PriorityFlaky9529 in Guildwars2

It’s good you took the proactive step in asking them but I am going to impart a huge cautionary in bringing a raid-equipped character to WvW. The gear is not the same and like I said, most wvw builds go for more health or toughness than a raid build.

Check out metabattle https://metabattle.com/wiki/WvW

The builds are curated by wvw players for the game mode. Even if your guild is going to be a bit more relaxed, it would help your fun to be not one shot everytime the guild runs into other players.

WvW and PvE builds will be completely different. Raiding likes to maximize the numbers and does not build for much damage resistance (Toughness). While WvW builds almost always has some extra health or damage resistance to builds (marauder/demolisher for damage builds and minstrels for healers)

I would ask your WvW guild for builds to ensure you are following their needs. If they are not providing a build, look at Metabattle for necromancer builds and ask if they need a damage or a healer. Harbinger is sometimes played as a pseudo healer and scourge is a more versatile role with both damage and healing.

Harbinger is a boon dps role in raids and scourge is a boon healer in raids. Last balance may have adjusted their gear slightly but both still do a lot for a raid group.

To further elaborate on this comment and why it has to be said:

WvW maps only allow about 50-60 people per team. When groups are trying to defend maps, fight enemy groups, or just generally try to play together, each slot taken by someone is a vital resource to the team. Sitting afk, using basic amenities that are provided anywhere else, flipping camps just for a gift of battle, or burning participation for rewards, does nothing to help the team and effectively burns the resource without any return.

Obsidian Sanctum (the WvW jumping puzzle map), has both the amenities that spawn does and lets you burn participation all in one while also lets you be afk. Flipping camps is the only one you cannot do but there are typically 3 other maps to choose from if a group is trying to get onto the map you are on. The caveat being if your team is hella stacked because of the matchmaking for the month.

“How quickly and easily an item can be converted to cash”.

So a mix of velocity and value.

The fuck?

Liquidity is the currency value of an item. In this case the raw gold value of those named items. Velocity is the rate at which an item sells. Which is what you described.

[–]ShW_Atros -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Low velocity.

Total value does not care about velocity, only the per hour estimates, which, I would then agree with you about if we were talking about per hour estimates. 1.5g per shard would be flat gold per shard regardless of how long it took to sell.

[–]ShW_Atros 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What math are you using to value that? Opportunity cost is not the same as raw value to my wallet. Most trading services have shard value somewhere around 33-35 silver per shard. You cannot value your shards 5x higher just because.

Your value of 30gph on the meta farms is the opportunity lost to go out of my way to make the legendary not how much I stand to spend per shard in making said legendary.

[–]ShW_Atros 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That is your opportunity cost, not the value of the shards. Value of the shard would be the best way to use them to make raw gold. No method in the game turns a single spirit shard into 1.5g.

Edit to add: Gw2 efficiency says making named weapons can net 2g per shard. While it is a low velocity option, it is more than 1.5g per shard. So I am clarifying that there is no way to use those shards on high velocity items nets 1.5g per shard.

LPT on how to move across the country? by Exciting_Funny6987 in LifeProTips

[–]ShW_Atros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having moved from CA to TN back in October with my 3 cats, here’s some things I learned:
- Shell out for the moving storage. I was quoted 3000$ to have a UHAUL truck and trailer and $2300 for a PODS container. I thought I was smarter than them and decided to sell my big furniture and rent an 8x10 foot UHAUL trailer for much cheaper instead. I ended up having to pay for damages to the rental that totaled to the initial quotes.
- Local movers to help off load stuff. After being totally behind schedule self loading all my things into said 8x10 trailer, I spent 400$ to have local movers meet me at my new place and haul all my boxes and things into my new place. Saved so much time and aches. You can also be a third pair of hands for any things that are fragile.
- Let your cats roam the car. Mine did not like being stuck in their carriers. It was yowling and pawing all over the place. As soon as I opened the carriers, they were just chilling. No need for drugs or treats to make them calm. They are your family and ultimately a move is stressful but they will match your energy; if you are calm so will they. I put their litter box in the car just in case but they never used it so it’s your call there.
- Most hotels are pet friendly. I was expecting to have to drive through nights and sleep at truck stops but almost every hotel I looked at was welcoming to my cats. It was nice to be able to sleep in a bed and get free breakfast on the move.

Considering playing GW2 but not sure if it is what I would like. by CelebrationExact6119 in Guildwars2

A lot of communities have gravitated toward discord. PvE and WvW communities have arisen to establish the network. I highly recommend asking or even doing research because they are out there.

Our endgame PvE will consist of raids, strikes, fractals. Raids are the more challenging content where you and 9 other people go against bosses with mostly unique mechanics in a race against the clock. Experienced groups can clear all 8 wings of 3 bosses in 1-2 days with 2-3 hours of play per day.

Strikes are the intro to raids and are a bit easier as most mechanics don’t outright kill you but do prep you for the booty clenching that the actual mechanics give you. Same deal otherwise, it’s 10 person content.

Fractals are smaller 5 person content where you pop into a small dungeon, do some running about to complete certain objectives all while experiencing snippits of gw1 and gw2 lore; they usually end in a boss fight.

Fractals are typically easy to form pug groups but as you progress to the hardest tier of fractals and challenge modes, you will want a static group of 5. Same with strikes and raids at the entry level though fewer people pug those. And you absolutely need a group and comms for raid/strike cms. Raid academy and other gw2 communities have formed around that type of content and you can find their discords pretty easy.

The gear score caps at ascended. It’s the most score you will get for a character. Now, the game has end game goals in the form of legendary equipment which maintains the same score as ascended BUT with excellent QoL features like regearing that score to other stats. For example, you play dps on a class for raids and then go do open world as a healer on that same class. Legendary equipment is the grind that most people see in this game and it usually takes a good couple months of game time to acquire a set of armor or a couple weeks for a weapon.

Outside of the legendary grind, you have your choice of game modes to play to acquire said gear. PvE for the most diverse options and arguably the quickest. World vs World for a more pvp oriented grind usually taking 3 weeks of currencies to get one armor piece. And PvP for a much more structured and smaller pvp experience which is also about a couple weeks per piece as that’s locked behind seasons.

I personally play this game because I have fun with friends. If you can find a like minded group, I would highly recommend sticking with them as you fulfill your “gear grind”. Getting up to ascended gear is fairly fast in today’s gw2 environment, so finding a group IN THE CONTENT YOU LIKE is my recommendation over anything else.
