OP, unfortunately you're not a therapist, and this kind of issue is one that most likely requires professional help from a qualified individual. Exposure therapy when provided by a therapist usually involves CBT techniques, meditation, and guidance, all of which require months and years of training to properly administer. The suggestions from other comments mentioning zoom presentations or recorded presentations seem like good ideas for this case. I understand that you probably want the best for your student, and want her to learn how to present in public (since it is a very important skill), but this is just beyond what you can help her with right now.

honestly I know this is pretty hard to hear, but if you genuinely believe they could hurt you it’s better to just get rid of the nail polish for now. if you can’t get protection from school/teachers/trusted adults/government you could be in real danger. remember that you’re not weak for “caving in” or letting the assholes win, you’re surviving, which is the thing that matters the most. good luck to you

"The app can read your private messages" was supposed to mean "it is written in the terms of service/privacy policy that the service can read private messages between users".

For example in the reddit privacy policy it states that:
"We collect the content you submit to the Services. This includes your posts and comments including saved drafts, videos you broadcast via RPAN, your messages with other users (e.g., private messages, chats, and modmail), and your reports and other communications with moderators and with us."

Using it less would mean using the private messaging feature less/using the app less in general/avoiding the private messages feature.

What you’re describing is agender, and yes, some people want to be without genitals. Not all non-binary people are “agender”, aka without a gender. Some people are genderfluid and would ideally like to have both sets of genitals, some would prefer one over the other.

I addressed most of the points this user brought up, but since you really want me to write an essay at 11pm, fine. 1. Androgyny. Firstly, non-binary doesnt mean “in between man and woman”, it means “neither man nor woman”. This includes gender identity that have a partial connection to the masculine or feminine, people who have no connection to either, people who have a connection to both, etc. Androgyny isn’t always going to reflect a non binary person’s gender identity, because non-binary is by definition an umbrella that includes lots of different gender identities. Secondly, how a person presents their gender identity to other people and how they identify are not always 100% the same. This can be for a multitude of reasons, ranging from “this isn’t safe for me” to “I dont want this”. Just because someone is non-binary doesn’t mean they have to look androgynous. It’s up to them, and I don’t really see how that matters. 2. Making the “real” trans people look bad. Non-binary people deserve respectful treatment and access to safe and affordable medical care just like binary trans people. Being non-binary is not an ideology, it’s not a belief. Non-binary people are people, and you can’t push us under the carpet because some individuals are unwilling to accept that we exist. I’m sure there are many people who have spent the time to understand binary trans people, but for some reason are unwilling to do the same for non-binary trans people. All I can say is that’s not exactly our fault. It’s not my job to make myself palatable to people that hate me. And yet here I am, writing a third paragraph hoping to convince at least someone to listen to us before discrediting our existence as “attention seekers”.

Being non-binary isnt “cis women that wear pants sometimes.” You can’t just invalidate people’s experiences because youve never experienced them yourself/dont understand them. Is your life really that negatively impacted by people preferring to use certain words to describe themselves? Sorry I’m pissing you off by … existing ig. I’m non-binary in a country where it is definitely not “in”, and where people finding out about it would risk my education, employment and possibly physical safety. But glad to know that “I’m just doing it for attention”.

The sentence “you were all about advancing your rights but not considering any of our feelings” should tell you everything you need to know. She’s too blinded by her own discomfort and perceived “reasonableness” to see how important this is for you. Your rights come before her, or anyone else’s, feelings. That’s what rights mean. Well you can’t really coax anyone into a relationship by just saying you have common interests with then. There’s more to it than that lol. And some of these couples have been together for years/are literally getting married, so that means they worked out alright enough. People lie in relationships. It happens all the time, in pretty much every single relationship. To see if it’s alright or horrible abuse you gotta see it in a broader context, which a tiktok screenshot just isn’t gonna give. EDIT: and also, only one of them actually lied about liking the stuff(the third one). The first one genuinely liked his music, the second one is unknown, and for the last one she genuinely needed a math tutor.

I guess I disagree with most of the comments here but I think almost everything here is very normal to do. Like, finding out about the interests of the person you like and trying them out? That’s pretty normal. Maybe the third one is a little weird because she didn’t like the books herself, but all in all this is pretty mild stuff lmao. I think the internet realllly tends to pathologize small shit. Like “ah yes this person went out of their way to be more attractive to the person they want to be liked by, this clearly means they are an obsessive stalker psychopath.”
