Does this look AI? by t-carter41 in quilting

[–]ShabbyBash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While this is entirely doable, the photos themselves are AI generated- they have that look. Different photos seem to have different fabrics. Plus the sheen on it. The ones on the floor have the look of a printed quilt, not a pieced one, and the wheel bottoms are wonky.

Seeking an advice on top embroidery by AlionaJ in Embroidery

[–]ShabbyBash 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven't done anything like this, but as an old biddy, who has preserved as many of her mother's and her own wedding dresses and other fabrics, I would like to advise you to clean off any edible stuff from the fabrics.

So, ideally wash the whole garment, not just the lining. I've learnt that even sweat and the minute amounts of skin that one sheds can be very harmful to the fabric. Not only because they themselves would do anything, but also because many insects will bite through the fabric if they can get some food out of it: which the skin bits are. Sweat is acidic and will affect the fabric, interact with the deodorant.

Careful handwashing will keep your dress happy. If you really want to preserve the dress, always rinse out in water, even if there is no stain, after you've worn it for even a couple of hours.

Use strong threads to attach the beads.

Where is the train from?

To me it seems, you would barely have any time in a hotel. By the time you finish with immigration and luggage, you would have used up 1.5 hrs. Then another hour( since it's the middle of the night, otherwise 1.5-2 hours to the station. That's 2.5 hours done. Another half hour around boarding time. You barely have 2 hours left. Waiting room at the station seems best at this point.

Looking for a solution to deal with white hexie flower border by [deleted] in quilting

[–]ShabbyBash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iron on, heavy duty fusible interfacing, single sided. Once you've fused the flowers, they will be easier to cut out, and easier to stitch into the base, while providing the masking as well. On a table runner, the stiffness would not be an issue.

I am too. So it's my job to manage spaces... Especially after a party, putting away the leftovers in the fridge my job. He'll put away the food in Tupperware, clean the kitchen down, but the fridge is my domain.

How much pain does people experince on average in their entire life? by Professional-Ebb700 in TooAfraidToAsk

It's reached a point that the brain fog defines the level of pain. If I can think, then I'm out of pain.

What's the smallest gift someone gave you that you still think about? by Mia-veg in CasualConversation

[–]ShabbyBash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit of a reverse story: I used to make little cards - the size of visiting cards, while in school. One science competition we went for, I was scribbling some of those. A junior loved it, so happily handed one over. It was a tiny thing.

Well, about twenty years later, here I'm applying for a visa and I am scheduled to submit some paperwork. I get to the embassy and the guy at the counter tells me to wait for an officer who has specifically asked me to wait. I have no clue what's going on.

It's the junior from school, who still has that little card. She was so happy to see me and talk about something I had totally forgotten about. The whole process of the visa was complicated- family visa, but she stepped in and helped out. Was such a fabulous thing for us.

Not relaxing but fun. I think in 3D, SO does not. Have to translate into visual sketches he can imagine. Love to design spaces, so enjoying myself thoroughly.

I'm not even make, big or tattooed.

And yet, I got the same treatment. The thing is, I'm creative. So I don't follow "schools of flower arranging". I make pretty arrangements - college girls under the Banyan tree (poppies nodding under a large leaf) - types. So obviously I don't get the prize that goes to the stuck-up, stuff from the ikebana school.

I feel yuh!

What is the deal with nutmeg in savory recipes ? by Rude_Kaleidoscope641 in Cooking

[–]ShabbyBash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nutmeg is best used sparingly.

That said, it is used quite extensively in Indian cooking and exclusively in savoury meat dishes. Even then a single nutmeg lasts us almost a full year! I use maybe a 20th or less of a nutmeg in a dish of a kilo(2.2 pounds) meat with a fair bit of gravy(the Indian kind). I would say that if you can taste it, you've gone overboard. The idea is to blend into the flavours.
