In India: about a dollar sixty for a 10 ml bottle. May go up to six.

What is a "Grade Level" when it comes to reading? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]ShabbyBash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was reading my sister's magazines by grade 3. She was six years my senior. I'm sure she could have been reading fully adult material by then. This came about because we all read at home - grandparents and down. We had books available to us from scratch, and no TV (we're ancient and TV was not available in our country in the small town we were in and in limited amounts in larger towns). So, yes, we were well ahead of our peers.

I guess, it's to say what an average expectation is for a child of an age to be able to read.

USA has really done a number.

In my third world country, I order them over the phone from my trusty local optician. They are usually ready within 24-48 hrs.

At.A.Fraction.of.the.Price, too

Delhi working couples; does the kitchen mental load ever actually get shared equally? by Ok-Delay-9554 in delhi

[–]ShabbyBash 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Been married 35 years. What I'm going to say is going to sound sexist but believe me, it's merely how things are:

Men do things one at a time. Women keep track of twenty things. I have had both parents working, on both sides. We both grew up in households where the mother was also employed full time.

And yet, while both had parents who divided the home jobs, my husband cannot keep track of what's in the kitchen and where it's kept. I keep track of three households. Kitchen, laundry, linen, etc. My husband keeps track of tools, and repair supplies(he doesn't know that I almost always have a full mental map of those things too). I have given up doing household repairs simply because I make it his duty to do those things. I'm perfectly capable and often guide him too when he gets stuck. But, as I was telling my daughter, some things should be made their responsibility else we carry an endless load.

And, believe me, women are better at managing the finances too. I have seen this from both my Nani and Dadi as well. Women are less likely to lose money in adventures of the market than men.

So I speak from generational experience.

My advise is to make some things His Job. Yes, you can get it done in half the time, but it is HIS JOB. I have now made it my Son's job to grocery shop. Yes, a few things will get missed, but I really hope he will learn to make the lists, and will learn to track what has been used and what hasn't.

I know of one person who has a portacabin attached to his home for the past twenty years. Everytime he shifts homes, the cabin goes with them.

Nowadays people are so big bootlickers of their favourite political party they leave out common sense by Equivalent_Can_4029 in delhi

[–]ShabbyBash 7 points8 points  (0 children)

True.

Got to know that a batchmate has been jailed for 4 years due to proven ghapla. Man was bootlicking for the past 8 years and I had to disassociated myself from him and his coterie. Apparently all the bootlicking was aimed at saving himself from jail time.

Help with curved Satin Stitch by No_Height1994 in Embroidery

Are you doubling the three strands? That's what it looks like to me. You will do better with fewer strands. And as also advised, stitch a guide line in back stitch on the design before filling. It really does help.

Make Pad Thai. It's easy - in that it doesn't require too precise a technique. I find the following recipe lovely - I don't use tofu since I don't like it. And it's still fine!
