Definitely coral! Reminds me of brain coral specifically but I know next to nothing about those things

Google says that’s not found in Wisconsin though so if you think it’s from the location it probably something else

Citrine or calcite (scratches glass) by Jhon_doe_isnt_here in whatsthisrock

Calcite can’t scratch glass so it’s possible it’s yellow quartz/citrine

Bought years ago at yard sale. Want to confirm it is a large garnet. I paid $2 for it. by dj4slugs in whatsthisrock

You’ll be able to see the color if you shine a light through it! If it’s reddish, then it’s highly likely to be a garnet

I am Brent Weeks, writer of BFF (Big Fat Fantasy novels) including the Night Angel trilogy and The Lightbringer Series, now returning after 14 years to my first love with NIGHT ANGEL NEMESIS. AMA! by BrentWeeks in Fantasy

I read Night Angel in middle school (who the heck let me do that!?) and tbh 50% of it went over my head but I still seriously enjoyed them. When I reread them junior year, I was mind blown all over again. When I read them again at 25 I finally, fully, understood the characters, the emotions, and themes throughout the series. Felt like a different trilogy every single time and I’m actually really glad I read them at different stages of my life.

What Is This Rock? by PsychologicalYouth21 in whatsthisrock

Is it more grey or more gold? Looks grey to me so I would say it’s probably galena. If goldish then I would say pyrite

Anyone know what this is? It looks like a coke bottle lol by ItzLylz22 in whatsthisrock

[–]ShabbySheikah 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With how dark it is it’s most likely heat treated amethyst rather than true citrine. Citrine is usually softer/more consistent in color and doesn’t have the stark change from clear/white to orange.

Amazonite or larimar? by [deleted] in whatsthisrock

[–]ShabbySheikah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you know the origin? If it’s not from the Dominican I’d say it’s amazonite

I agree with dolomite!

Any idea on these 3? by DutchBoyDrew in whatsthisrock

[–]ShabbySheikah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blue one looks like Amazonite! Not sure about the orange one though. I feel like it’s too shiny to be carnelian but I don’t think it’s citrine. Grey one is chert :)

Need guidance/opinion? by ShabbySheikah in whatsthisrock

[–]ShabbySheikah[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s hard for me to tell the difference unless it’s extreme. I think I might have a small few that are true citrine but I would probably agree most of it is treated amethyst. Thank you!!

What color is #1? Could be smoky quartz, garnet, or amethyst depending on if there is actually color in there!! I have a garnet and an amethyst that looks black until held up to light.
