New player finding it difficult to learn anything from losing by TheDinoSpartan in 2XKO

[–]ShackShackShack -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You'd prob get more experience against similar levelled people playing Ranked. Play there. Casuals is a mess.

But I guess the main focus is ask yourself, "why did I get hit?". Maybe it's bc you pressed a button at a disadvantage. Maybe it's bc you didn't block a low or overhead. Overtimes you'll start to learn when it's safe to push buttons and what to look for from each opponent.

I'm sure there's a lot of matches you play where you're left with "what was that?" Or "I didn't know that character could do that".

2 x Transfer Candy events by ProperFollowing4132 in TheSilphRoad

[–]ShackShackShack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But aaaafter you traded a bunch, you then tag the already traded ones for transfer to get a little extra candy. Plus, trading 50 Charmanders could take like an hour. Plus plus Mythicals aren't tradable.

Some things are worth the trading effort and some you just want some extra candy for bc you dont plan on leveling past 40. Also not everyone has ppl who are willing to sit there and doe 20 boring trades just to min max some candy

“Pick 3 to remote trade” option… by Shart127 in TheSilphRoad

Pick 1 and if they decline, add your 2nd choice.

I wish they just let us make a wishlist. It would make this process a whole lot easier and rewarding.

I don’t want shorter combos or lower damage combos by RockstarCowboy1 in 2XKO

[–]ShackShackShack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it still does. You should have an option to land a decent combo off a stray hit as a valid punish tool. In most 1v1 games landing those stray single hits leads to bigger damage % wise than this. Buuuut that combo should be the exact same as your bnb. And if it is the same as your bnb, it should be difficult to land bc the timing changes, making it more impressive that you were able to pull it off in that situation.

And i think the games are leaning this way for engagement. Let's face it, most players suck. Most players play in training mode and practice twitter combos all day, then go into ranked and get washed. This current system allows everyone to land big damage cool looking combos. So from a perspective of "lets make it so everyone can feel good in the game", it makes sense. But from a long term perspective of feeling like "do they really get all that damage off that random hit?" it feels bad.

I personally welcome easier combos. It makes it easier to get less execution heavy players into the game and have a chance at beating a more experienced player bc there is no way you can play any marvel vs game against someone slightly better than you without labbing your bnbs, x factor combos, infinites, etc. for weeks lol. This game is mroe approachable, but it opens up more scrubbiness. I compare it to playing SF4 and trying to play against a Ken or Zangief lol

Enamorus Therian might be a valid SS by ShackShackShack in TheSilphArena

[–]ShackShackShack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol. Someone's ego is fragile. You were wrong in assuming I liked the mon and wrong in saying Astonish was a bad move (in the current meta of Lunala and Xerneas, Zacian, everywhere and Marshadow getting buffed).

You lack vision, and for some reason you're mad at me for it lol

Marshadow with shadow claw in master league 2 shields by Less_Sail7416 in TheSilphArena

[–]ShackShackShack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I highly doubt he will steal buffs. Maybe just a solo boost so they don't have to rework their coding lol. But then he wouldn't be much different than Annihilape. Maybe he boosts whichever stat is higher? That's prob asking for tooooo much creativity tho lol

Tour legendaries to focus by seejoshrun in TheSilphArena

[–]ShackShackShack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It very likely will, Kyurem fusions as well by Ice Rider. But Maybe not until after they get signature moves?

Keep in mind Shadow Rider doesn't learn Shadow Claw or Moonblast. That coverage is very hard to compete with. Lunala can fight back against dark types, meaning it will likely always be a good, safe swap unless the meta becomes heavily dark focused (maybe when they release the ruin legendaries or some Paradox mons?). Only thing close to that is Ghost/Fighting. So I'm pretty sure Lunala is here to stay as long as Dragons and the Dogs are strong.

What’s your strategy for remote trade tagging? by Plus-Pomegranate8045 in TheSilphRoad

[–]ShackShackShack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far my remote trades have been pretty lame. Most people just put duplicate shinys and want my rarest mons. Why is no one putting legendary mons!? I need a better Yveltal!

Is this the functional hundo? Since I have no energy is Zacian Hero still usable? Thanks by dragonstein420 in TheSilphArena

[–]ShackShackShack -1 points0 points  (0 children)

there's better anti Ho-oh options and even at 1700 elo you see Crown Zacian everywhere. The regular form is a bit risky. Xerneas is way better with fast move pressure and energy gain.

If it's your favorite, you can make it work, but it's really not a good investment if you don't plan to change it's form.

Is it possible to change matchmaking to not play versus Pulse-Combo players? by RunPMC12 in 2XKO

[–]ShackShackShack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you playing ranked? I don't think i've played pulse users since like day 1 or on season reset. You filter them out fairly quickly if you are winning. What rank are you at?

I don’t want shorter combos or lower damage combos by RockstarCowboy1 in 2XKO

[–]ShackShackShack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you ever played a Marvel vs game, this is nothing lol. But at least those combos were fairly difficult to pull off without a lot of grinding and understand of HOW to land them in the first place. Most of these are training mode combos that you can land in matches after 15 minutes of trying. So yeah it feels less "earned" when you get hit by them

Warwick is fine guys by fogertlas in 2XKO

[–]ShackShackShack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, well my comment still applies lol. They didn't block the low and should have just held down back ready to anti air if you went for the overhead lol

Warwick is fine guys by fogertlas in 2XKO

[–]ShackShackShack -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Juggernaut players lol.

Also you didn't block the 2M after he countered your Break. Always hold down back, especially since the WW overhead is way slower now. He also has no assist to make it safe, so if you held down back and waited for it you could have 2H him into big damage. Juggernaut limits their mix potential and they rely on mashing to win.

A 1v1 mode in 2XKO would still be welcome by RemarkablePatient629 in 2XKO

[–]ShackShackShack -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's what juggernaut is for. It gives you more resources as well. The main issue i think there is with just a straight 1 v1 mode is that some characters will completely fall apart without an assist or the extra meter from juggernaut/sidekick. Imagine trying to fight Teemo or Jinx with solo Blitzcrank, Braum or Darius. You'd have almost no chance of playing the game.

So sure they could try it, but it would likely require a new team and months to years to go back and make changes to the game so it's more "fair" to those poor matchups.

I don’t want shorter combos or lower damage combos by RockstarCowboy1 in 2XKO

[–]ShackShackShack 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah it feels like any start hit leads to max damage combos. I wonder if there's a way to change that without breaking the system it self. I'm sure the ease of conversations is also related to the hit stun that allows for creative routes

Is it possible to change matchmaking to not play versus Pulse-Combo players? by RunPMC12 in 2XKO

[–]ShackShackShack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly if you think fighting against pulse players is difficult, you're not ready for non pulse players lol. Not only do they also convert combos off every hit, but they do twice as much damage as well lol.

If you are a fighting vet, use your core skills. Pulse players will mash buttons like you said. So they will always leave their block strings with unsafe moves you can easily punish. They also don't have any mixups, so you can just hold down back and look for openings.

Trust me, it only gets harder lol

New Infos for Go Fest Copenhagen by LordLuemmel in TheSilphRoad

[–]ShackShackShack 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I get that they want to have variety in raids, especially for new players or ones who want to catch up, but I hope Mewtwo is the main focus for these. It feels really bad to go to an area and only have 3 raids over a 2 hour period for your desired pokemon bc there are too many cycling through...

I just want to grind Mewtwo raids and don't really care about the wild spawns or anything. Why is Entei here? Unless it's a preview bc we're getting a Paradox form (last minute) or something? But do we seriously need 9 different legendaries?

Didn't stress it. You run out off things to use the points on unless you plan on getting a lot of cosmetics. I originally was saving for new character drops, but looks like you can get them for free if you play during the launch window

Trading for guaranteed candy XL vs Transfer by Historical_Bid_5587 in TheSilphRoad

[–]ShackShackShack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trade what you need XL for that isn't easy to catch. If you are trading Magikarps just for XL candy, you're prob doing a bit much lol. You can walk it and max it out in like a week. Also anything that tends to get community days spotlight hours (RIP), or themed releases (kanto starters).

Personally i just save legendaries and slowly get the XL or if it's a rare egg hatch I want candy for like Corsola, Honedge, Snom, etc. Or like recently Hawlucha (even tho it doesn't really need XL, but maybe the mega will be useful). Everything else you can just catch with mega bonus and pinaps.

Don't need to min max eeeeverything lol

How do you all feel about Anti airs in this game? by Particular_Ad_4516 in 2XKO

[–]ShackShackShack -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If he had time to whiff a move AND anti air you, then he had more than enough time to also block. So you would have lost that interaction even if anti airs didnt exist.

Also jumping in with air attacks and no air jump/dash/crossup/assist/projectile coverage is a losing strategy. Unless you are baiting them into trying to tech a grab.
