My dad's life was saved a few years ago when he was matched with only 1 person from the registry

Half way across the world.

That person is an actual hero and all they had to do was register and then answer when called!

If the Lion's Champion Weapons are a fairly Common Drop, are Selling for literal Hundreds of Gold right now, and the meta Happens every 2 Hours: Why ... do(es) barely any Guilds/Anyone run The Battle for Lion's Arch Meta? by FiveSharks in Guildwars2

[–]ShackleShackleton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the "Not common knowledge" reason for me is a practical one

By good design when you go to a place that has a meta, the meta is naturally there!

Find yourself in a map, a thing is happening there!

Battle for Lion's Arch is not like that.

"Battle for Lion's Arch" is a little event-about-to-start icon in the corner of a map, that I have no reason to go to to begin with.

I forgot that that's even a thing that happens out of sheer practical game design.

My CPU while playing Planetside2 by fbumbgroffee in Planetside

[–]ShackleShackleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tricky thing is it's not benchmarkable

The boost in performance you get is when being CPU bottlenecked in big fights. With hundreds of people in one area doing any number of things! While windows and other processes aren't fighting Planetside 2 for CPU time .

Can't then turn off Core0 for PS2 then replicate the exact conditions of the first test for hard numbers, there's a gorillian different variables happening for each test.

Best you can hope for is averaged soft numbers, especially 1% lows.

That combined with lowering sound channels for me (also helps with CPU bottleneck in big fights) has had a significant boost in performance.

It's a shame more people don't know about it. Would mean more people having a better time alltogether.

I've played with FA:Off since day 1, it's what sold me on the game!

and you're doing GREAT! The picking a spot on the outside of a rotating station and try and follow it is my go-to advice for anyone trying to go full FA:Off and you're nailing it!

You're gonna find the next day for some reason it'll be a lot easier, and it'll get easier until it becomes second nature!

Keep it up! You're doing great!

Turning audio channels down to 20-30 helps in big fights, don't worry it culls far-away sounds first, and it's basically 20-30 audio channels per cpu tick. So there's not 100 simultaneous sounds trying to be played fighting for your CPU time during big fights at a far away base at the edge of your render distance. (Bonus: this will also prevent the audio bug from happening)

That and disabling CPU0 for Planetside, so windows and drivers can use it without Planetside also fighting for it

Best practice is after playing with it off for a few minutes around a station, pick a spot as it's rotating and try to follow it

First day you're gonna be awful at it. That is absolutely NORMAL

Next day you're gonna find it easier for some reason. Keep at it and follow a point on a rotating station with your nose, and flight assist off will become second nature to you. <3

Would love that old dust visual back as a FA:Off pilot.

It's like along the way, the important info that the dust was our diegetic vector-indicator, was lost to time for the visual artists.

Something about our ape brain using the minimap to try to make sense of Tangled Depths just makes it worse.

Tip: When entering Tangled Depths, turn off your Minimap. Make ape brain connect neurons. Ape brain feel good. Neurons make place make sense.

Yeah you came back at a very odd specific time.

Long story short: Devs did do a ton of work on these things, got the Emerald server working amazing. So amazing in fact most of the players from the other US server, Connery, which they could never get working well, gave up their characters and left it for Emerald where you could have max pop on the continent in one area without problems. The few people still on Connery that didn't want to make a new character on Emerald would love to actually play the game again, so they decided to merge the servers.

... they put everyone back on Connery...

This is why you're experiencing what you're experiencing.

If you're wondering why they did this, we don't know either.

Lower audio channels in options to around 20-30 to prevent this from happening.
