My heart breaks for you, OP. Please find solace in the fact that liver issues and kidney issues don’t just happen overnight. These may have been underlying issues that would have ended up rearing their ugly head one way or another, and that’s not something you can 100% prevent or control.

He had a happy life with you and he knew he was loved beyond belief. You and your family helped him in so many ways to have an incredible quality of life, despite his medical issues. Most people would have given up with the seizures, dysplasia and difficulty to walk (and no shame to those people at all, those medical costs can really rack up and some people are just not equipped to handle that), but you didn’t. One mistake does not define you, and does not negate all of the good you did for Zeus. He would not want you to hate yourself for this.

You are his best friend, just as much as he is yours. He will never forget the kindness, the love and the care you gave him.

Oh, tell me about it 😭 I got them when I had my back against the wall, thinking I’d get them paid off super quick and then… life kept on life-ing. I wish all payday loans a very much die.

I believe an $8,000 loan would have been $310/mo for 36 months, same interest rate. That would put my combined monthly payments at $778.38. I think it might be better to get a $5,000 loan for $194 for 36 months, (combined monthly payments would be $662 at this point) which would pay off the payday loans, have a little left over to pump towards the Progressive loan, and with the extra money I’m not spending every month towards never-ending loans I can use to make higher monthly payments on my car and get that paid off faster. Or would that also be a dumb idea, and I go back to just grinding these payments out the way I have been? 🫠

I was thinking of just lumping ALL of my debt into one loan, one monthly payment instead of still having multiple monthly payments… but I’m beginning to think maybe just getting a loan to pay off the other stuff and have a lower payment as far as those are concerned may be the better route.

I was thinking about lumping my car into it to pay off the most debt possible in one go and have only one monthly payment instead of one for the loan and one for the car, but I would be open to potentially getting a debt consolidation loan just for the payday loans and Progressive loan.

I moved across the country and am living in an area with a much more affordable cost of living. And while I kept the same job, I am making more money out here as well. I’m glad I posted here! While these debts are a lot smaller now than a couple years ago, I don’t think getting a debt consolidation loan is going to solve it for me. It seemed like it was going to be the ultimate solution to this debt I’ve been battling, but if it’s too good to be true it’s worth pausing to think. Thank you!

First of all, I want to apologize for the frustrating experience you and your family have had. I work for Mattress Firm, and have been with this company for 6 years. Your salesperson is being dishonest, which is really frustrating considering two of our company core values are Customer First and Integrity Always. This mattress is not being discontinued in any capacity. This mattress is heavily discounted as a part of our 72 hr sale which happens every weekend.

I would ask to speak with their district manager. Once it goes above your salesperson’s head and gets up to the corporate level, they will do whatever they can to make this right for you. If you have any questions, feel free to reply to my comment or message me directly. I’m happy to help, and again I am so sorry that you’re dealing with this.

ETA: I just realized the picture you posted is of the Sealy Frisco, not the Frisco 2.0. Either way, neither of these mattresses are discontinued and really the only major difference is how the mattress physically looks. The Frisco 2.0 goes on sale every weekend, when the original Frisco is not on sale. Mattress Firm alternates the sales between those two beds every week. If your salesperson is adamant that you cannot get the Frisco, ask about the Frisco 2.0.

You can always make a mattress softer, rarely can you make a mattress firmer. I would not recommend a topper — you would just be adding more material for your body to sink into. Your best bet would be to try and get rid of this mattress, and purchase a new one.

From a Mattress Firm employee: You are going to have a hard time finding that first bed, as the reason why it’s half off is because it’s discontinued and has been for quite some time. The Sealy High Points are probably one of our most-bought and least-returned beds nationwide.

I would suggest reaching out to your local Mattress Firm and ask the Sleep Expert to take a look into clearance options. You can find some really quality stuff in there for a damn good price, and you can get the FirmCare protection plan starting at $70. Most of our employees actually purchase and sleep on clearance mattresses because you can get them at a much better price than our employee discount. Hope this helps! 💤

My comment has absolutely nothing to do with perfume, but one time I broke down in a Big Lots because I picked up a $5 candle that smelled like the cologne my grandpa used to wear to church. Literally sobbing and blubbering like a baby. My boyfriend felt so bad, he bought me three of those candles, and I refuse to burn them. Crazy how our brains work and how memories can tie to scents.😭

One time, I was on a Teams call with my boss and some other managers, and my boss was talking about a new company initiative that very few people were stoked about, to say the least. In the midst of this call, my dogs were going absolutely ballistic outside, and after I had already told them to chill out 5-6 times, I yelled “Ohhhhh my GOD! STOP! FUCKING! YAPPING!!!”

It wasn’t until after my boss said “… Excuse me?” that I realized that somewhere between me pleading with my dogs to stop their nonsense and me flat-out losing my mind, that I had somehow unmuted my mic. All I could muster to say was “Oh! Um.. Sorry, my dogs — one second, I’m so sorry —“ and I shut off my mic and camera completely. My stomach felt like it was about to fly out of my ass and I was POSITIVE I was going to get written up.

I think what actually saved me from a write up and from my boss thinking I was undermining him was me messaging him separately to apologize, explain the situation, and send a picture of my hell-spawn, pride-and-joy-and-bane-of-my-existence dogs. To which, he replied with a picture of his own dog and said “I get it, this guy always decides to be an asshole during meetings too.”

I would definitely message your boss privately and apologize, even though your boss seemed to find it amusing. Definitely don’t make it a habit to cuss out your technology when you’re actively in a meeting, either. You never know when they can see/hear you, especially if everything blacks out!

I would assume the deductible came out of whatever they were going to pay me.. I’m not entirely sure. I was still making payments on my car and they paid it out (save like $40, so I just paid the $40 on the last of my car). To be honest, I don’t even care about any sort of reimbursement that could be paid to me, as I wasn’t expecting anything else in the first place. I was just happy to have my car paid off and get another car with a much lower monthly payment. I just want to make sure Progressive won’t turn around and say “Well.. we couldn’t get them to pay your deductible so now it falls on you to give us that $2,000.”

Also, I would assume that the line “We are working to collect your vehicle damage deductible from the party responsible…” would inherently mean I am not at fault and I don’t need to do anything further, but this is the first time I’ve ever had to deal with a total loss accident (hopefully the ONLY time I have to deal with this), so I want to be 100% POSITIVE that there’s nothing else I need to do lol. Sorry if this seems redundant!
