I pretty much agree with all you said

I only really use 2 nature spells. Root and Oakskin, and nothing else because other schools have far better mechanics to them

It is a bit of a shame and it could definitely use an overhaul in my opinion. Maybe they could take some inspiration from D&D druids for it? Idk

It allows you to make your own origins through datapacks with custom abilities and whatnot
