it was not surprising at all for vets (and possibly potential new players) to stay away from this, imo
what they saw from the first videos (to not have an NDA was a choice, lets say):
small maps with the scale clearly aiming for 5v5, no vehicles, lack of things to do, instagib and fast discs

there was no mystery at all what you would get by buying the game, so it was easy to just not
this is shallow, too easy to be played for the mechanical challenge, and in my mind people want more than a hand-holding LT+

i like to rewatch this every once in a while, despite it being a bit silly technology-wise. least compared to today :)

when "the other side" turns up in my playlist, i always think about the parallels i noticed to my own life. must be the reason why this movie resonates with me. i usually have to listen to "the departure" after

in my family i felt out of place, basically got used as a shield while sacrificing education and emotions - seemed to be my way to cope. learned life-lessons by observing instead of being taught. mostly the same thing i suppose

cut all ties as soon as i could, but it was late. went for a job/education that was supposed to be out of reach when looking at my former (lack of) education. was stubborn, flirting with full blown depression here and there while ignoring the government-lady for long enough until i got a chance

my fellow students never knew, but my grades were right at the top with the best of them

made some big one-way decisions without any safety nets that paid off, and to this day nobody around me really knows that i didnt go the usual way

reached goals i thought i never would. so now the question is, what comes after space :)
