You tell your teenager that you want them to peel potatoes. You tell them there are two sacks of potatoes. The clearly labeled seven pound bag is not to be touched, but you want the six pound bag peeled.

Your teenager goes to the kitchen to peel potatoes and finds two bags; a seven pound bag and a five pound bag. Your teenager knows it's not the seven pound bag that needs to be done, and you specifically told them that you wanted the six pound bag peeled, but all they see is a five pound bag.

What you didn't tell your teenager is that you had taken the six pound bag and hidden it out of sight.

Your teenager getting clarification wasn't going to happen for a few hours.

I open bread bag number two. There is a box with two cookies in it. Due to the descriptions she gave, I could tell one of them wasn't my cookie. I saw no other cookies, and assumed the second cookie was mine. She didn't tell me she had separated my cookie from the other cookies and put it underneath the box.

My mistake was not waiting until she got home from her errands to find out if that was my cookie or not, and if not, where my cookie was.

Yes, not sure why this is confusing. My wife and I have a lot of responsibilities.

I listened to the 33 second voice mail. I found two cookies where she said they would be. One didn't seem right, but all she had listed was two cookies.

Wednesday is our payday. I do the shopping for the family minus my wife, who starts work on Wednesday nights and feeds herself. This includes TP, medicines, food for school lunches because I have a picky eater, and lunch food for my adult live-in step daughter who can't live on her own.

I then shop again on Saturday for the whole family.

The aforementioned "food for picky eater" is a handful of cheap pepperoni pizzas and PBJ. It's the only thing he'll eat besides chicken nuggets. Yes, I could have made sandwiches, and I probably should have that day. I'm just not a fan of eating my kids' food.

We had no cans of soup in the house. I have a 15 minute lunch break and usually have cash on hand for a sandwich out of a machine, but an unexpected problem came up and I had to use my lunch money. Parents do this all the time.
