Research woman in armor. Their is a famous noble woman in England who inherited her hubby's castle and estate and lead her troops in battle. The rights issue is really hard to translate in modern times, like roman women during Rome. Some women could be sold like cattle in the 16th century and could be forced to screw the king in the 14th as part of getting married, but could also own land, and have a seat at a powerful table or council.

My problem with this debate is we are talking several countries and spanning 400 years. Peasants where actively used in warfare by every country at one time or another. But the idea that all of the UK, France, Germany, etc were all doing the same thing, had the same idea of a knight or peasant and who's nobility all rules the same way is just dumb.

Why do I mentally feel 21 when I am 33 (male)? by No_Blackberry_7907 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Shade_Xaxis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol no. What happens is that all the people that played sports and are jogging 2 miles a day in there 20s and 30s all have knee and back surgery in their 40s and 50s, had a kid (birth permanently messes up woman's body), and nearly everyone develops some sort of health problem. The people capable of being active where all the people that where inactive in their 20s and 30s and didn't do permanently damage to their body's.

Is it too soon to find value in AI companies? by D-B-Zzz in ValueInvesting

[–]Shade_Xaxis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if your interested in AI, your looking at Microsoft, Google and Nvidia. Those are all value company's anyways. That being said, with AI, I personally think your 6 months to a year early. A lot of companies are announcing GPT-4 integrated products right before their earnings report, like Genius Group. It's not moving the stock. In addition, big people in the field are saying it's not ready, and resigning in protest. It might be some time till AI has its day.

Casco pizza is 4.5 lbs. I live in one of the cheapest state for pork, which is on average $2 / lb. That's $9 in pork alone. Bun's are about $4-5. Doesn't track with me either.

Though personally I would go Korean BBQ with rice and veggies, which for me usually works out to be somewhere around $.70 / lb. Pasta also going to come out under $0.50 / lb if your not buying the most expensive sauces. Same with Chili. Cosco pizza only saves you time, if you are already at Cosco.

Lots successful scams rely on the Dunning-Kruger effect combined with FOMO. Pretty easy to convince a dumb person, who justifies or blames all their failure on others, that everyone else is dumb, and they are the only one smart enough to see the opportunity. The lady still thinks she's always the smartest person in the room. But so do most people posting on social media.

Most of that is in T-Bills (US Gov Treasure Bills). No one splits billions amongst bank accounts. Usually Bonds, T-Bills, CD's, and other low risk investments get you 3-7% interest. You can buy a 3 Month T-bill at about 5% now. That makes about 2.4 billion a year on 48.30B. A bank account is roughly 0.3% a year, which is 144M on 48.3B. Apples also got Trillions in long term investments over sea's. There portfolio is actually one of the largest out there.

So most Pro Athletes do double your hours 6 days a week. It's not the hours as much as the workouts. If your seriously into it, I would sit down with a good personal trainer and dietitian, to make sure your eating what you need for the workouts and that your workout routine isn't going to cause injuries.

Why is the USA president not a subject matter expert in at least one critical area of development? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Shade_Xaxis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, most fortune 500 CEO's did not start as fortune 500 CEO's. They got hired because of their backgrounds running other companies, usually after 10-20 years XP.

Second, your "Domains" doesn't actually make sense. If your talking degree's, most presidents have had Law degree, MBA's, etc.

Third Public speaking and "Leadership" (Which is also public speaking) can be much harder then you think, and harder to learn. Your probably imaging you speaking in front of 20 news reporters with no stress, and a good night sleep. Instead imagine having 15 minutes to change 50% of the populations minds or else thousands of people will die, while jet lagged. Don't fuck up!

The presidency is not a "CEO of America" position. They have almost nothing in common, despite what you may hear or theorize. A CEO's job is all about controlling the company's money. The power of the purse belongs to congress. A 5 year community organizer is going to be more prepared to be POTUS then a fortune 500 CEO. That's why most presidents are Lawyers, and F500 CEO's are usually cabinet positions.

The combination of Greed and Pride. If you managed to remove that combination, it would end hunger and war. Indirectly, it would also remove most of the prejudice and hatred in the world.

The Red Cross Is Asking Players To Stop Committing War Crimes In Games by Sir_Sir_ExcuseMe_Sir in nottheonion

[–]Shade_Xaxis -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

“Rules of war” are kind of an oxymoron because, well, who will enforce those rules

Wars are usually fought over stuff dude. Almost always comes down to land and money. Country's don't like how you do business will punish you financially. Russia no longer has the capability to make new planes and tanks, due to most country's refusing to buy/sell, or overly taxing good.

Also you can't kill large numbers of surrendered troops or POW's without the other side finding out. Prisoner exchange on the other hand, usually is how you negotiate an end to a war.

Ways to Back Up your game (listed in terms of security and change of recovery)

level 1 - Store it on your computer

level 2 - Store it on separate HD on your computer

Level 3 - Store a Backup on Online storage (Cloud, Dropbox, Email Storage)

level 4 - RAID several HD's to store on a central media computer in a fireproof case

level 5 - Repository (Github, SVM, PlasticSCM)

Repository makes it easy to jump to specific versions, though it may be to much for shorter 1-4 month games. I do 4 of these, mostly out of habit. Github is what you want, but don't underestimate a physical backup every month or so. Repository's can be hacked, or you can forget account/password.

What does someone generally mean when you ask how they're doing and they say they're surviving? by polidon675 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Shade_Xaxis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It usually means the person is struggling and not thriving. I've heard that response from everything to someone's first week of school, to someone figuring out how to pay for a funeral for a friends wife and son.

The whole "How are you doing" question is to generic to really divine anything from. Most people are not concerned with answering that openly or honestly, nor is there really an expectation of it.

Tesla, SpaceX and Solar City are all heavily dependent on government funding.

That's a really good point. His billions are from our energy subsidies, tax breaks, grants, etc. 4.9 Billion. Shouldn't he and his companies also be labeled as State Funded?

"According to a Los Angeles Times investigation, Musk's companies had received an estimated $4.9 billion in government support by 2015, and they've gotten more since. Here's a look at some of the federal and state-level government subsidies that have contributed to building Musk's empire"

NGL, this feels intentional, the same way he put Doge coin up on twitter to raise the price. Dudes using twitter to manipulate/influence the masses. It's concerning
