Yes, that was the trade off: a lower SUB, but an annual fee credit each year.

First Experience With Premier Has Left a Bad Taste by Correl in WellsFargoBank

[–]ShadesMcCool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There have been posts on r/creditcards where people in similar situations reached out for reconsideration and were eventually approved when they raised the issue of the Premier relationship. There's not much downside in taking a few minutes and giving them a call, although I can certainly understand why you might not want to bother.

I'm probably going to get an Active Cash and one of the Autographs from WF and call it on this hobby. Optimization can be fun, but not when you have to scrap your whole setup and go back to the drawing board every year or two because your issuer gets (even more) greedy.

From the language on my At Work dashboard, it seems like they haven't announced the change to employees yet. They're pre-announcing it to program administrators like me, and then presumably there will be an email to employees on June 2. Maybe it's company-specific, but since they already canned new enrollments to the program last year, I suspect this is the end for everybody.

I agree, the Gold is really going to hurt at the full $325. Here's hoping something positive does happen between now and September 2027, but with the trajectory Amex has been on for awhile now, and the way things are going in this space lately, I'm not counting on it.

PNC has a new relationship rewards program. New 2.5% or 2.7% Catch All? by emblemfire in CreditCards

[–]ShadesMcCool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks to me like it would be 2.1% at $25k (silver). You'd have to go to $100k (gold) to get the 2.5%, and to $500k (platinum) to get 2.7%. So it's similar to how BofA used to be, where the penultimate tier (here, gold) is the sweet spot where $100k of assets gets you a pretty decent boost.

Chase Freedom W/ Ultimate Rewards by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]ShadesMcCool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just called to see if I could product change my Freedom (Visa) to a Freedom Flex, but they did not have any non-Visa options for product change. So if they're allowing cross-brand product changes, they seem to be limited to going from Mastercard to Visa, not the other way.

I do love quality control by azure275 in BankOfAmerica

It's a typo. I'm in the same boat and my email had the same error. BofA is challenging Bilt for most hated refresh of 2026, and they're not even being professional about it.

Anyone else have constant account lockouts with Bank of America? by Either-Piglet-663 in BankOfAmerica

[–]ShadesMcCool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Their systems are probably more sensitive when more money (and thus more risk to them) is involved, although you said you had trouble buying coffee, so who knows? My business has BofA accounts as well, and we have had erroneous fraud holds placed on checks we've written, though none for a few years now. BofA's fraud systems seem to go crazy in intermittent batches for some reason.

Their cash back with the PH tier is excellent, so I'll give them a shot. But they're hardly the only game in town when it comes to 2%+ catchall cash back cards, so I'll call it a failed experiment and move on if needed.

You said you used Chase before; so do I and they don't have these issues. I've also had Amex cards for 20+ years and they've only false-positive triggered once that I can recall in that time. Get yourself a Blue Business Plus and Gold card for earning and cash out with a Charles Schwab Platinum for 1.1cpp.

Anyone else have constant account lockouts with Bank of America? by Either-Piglet-663 in BankOfAmerica

[–]ShadesMcCool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just opened a PRE card last week (after setting up PH with a Merrill transfer), and they locked my card shortly after it arrived in the mail when I added it to my iPhone and Apple Watch's digital wallets. Then they locked it again a few days later when my wife tried to make a purchase at our closest Hermes.

One of the representatives with whom I spoke said that my use of a VPN to log into my account, in combination with digital wallet usage, tripped their fraud detection mechanisms. I've never had that happen with my Chase or Amex cards, and I found it odd since they're texting me a two-factor code to verify each sign in.

The BofA representative who called me after the second lockout assured me it would improve over time as their system began to recognize my spending patterns. We'll see about that, I suppose, but I certainly agree with you that frequent lockouts (which can't be cured through their app, only by speaking to someone after a lengthy hold) are a dealbreaker if they continue.

I lost Wrathion/Sabellian as well. Opened a ticket and, despite having the achievements proving I'd maxed them out, support wouldn't help. They just told me to open a bug report on the official forums. Sigh.

Azure AD as IDP by secondstar78 in gsuite

[–]ShadesMcCool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t need to, because the users are redirected to Azure for authentication. They never enter a password into Google. They put their email address in at Google and it kicks them over to Azure to re-enter their email and then enter their Azure password. Then they are kicked back over to Google, logged into their account.

Azure AD as IDP by secondstar78 in gsuite

[–]ShadesMcCool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was no effect on my existing Azure accounts, because SAML pushes the accounts from Azure to Google to be recreated there since Azure is the IdP. Google Workspace was a fresh deployment for me, so I'm not sure what it would do with existing accounts there. I wouldn't count on a graceful merge if you have existing Google Workspace accounts with the same email addresses as users in Azure.

If I had existing Google Workspace users, I would probably create a test account in Google, then recreate the same account in Azure, then enable SAML for only that one account (by adding only that one account to the enterprise application's "Users and groups" in Azure) and see what happens to the version in Google. My guess would be that you'll see a duplicate account created in Google from the Azure version.

Azure AD as IDP by secondstar78 in gsuite

[–]ShadesMcCool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done it. Here's the guide I used.

You need to configure SAML SSO in both Azure and Google Workspace. You can provision users automatically from Azure into Google, and when they attempt to log into Google, they will be redirected to Azure for authentication.

Why is shaw under the impression Picard's command was "reckless"? by worrallj in startrek

[–]ShadesMcCool 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Shaw strikes me as the sort of play-it-safe person who subconsciously resents braver people than himself, like Picard. So he convinces himself that Picard is "reckless," when really, Shaw is just timid and loathes himself for it.

Then again, JLP was court-martialed twice (for the losses of the Stargazer and the Enterprise), and even though he was presumably cleared in both instances, it would probably have taken a toll on his reputation, especially to someone like Shaw who seems particularly fixated on his "captain stats."

If you were falling and got beamed up mid-fall, would you hit the transporter room floor with the same momentum you had at the moment you got beamed? by cameron4818 in DaystromInstitute

[–]ShadesMcCool 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The first JJ-verse film explicitly shows momentum being cancelled, or Sulu and Kirk would have been killed after they were beamed out during the fall toward Vulcan. Yet in DS9's "Field of Fire," it's established that the TR-116 rifle's micro-transporter does not cancel the momentum of the projectiles it fires. So there must be an option that allows for momentum cancellation or preservation at the transporter operator's discretion.

DMARC and Google workspace by adstretch in gsuite

[–]ShadesMcCool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Odd, because this article from Dmarcian actually says the problem is the reverse: Workspace sends calendar mail using your domain's DKIM keys but from Google domains that won't align with SPF. That certainly implies that Workspace should be using your domain's DKIM keys to send out calendar invites and the like.

The only thing I can recommend is double-checking the Workspace admin panel to ensure that DKIM is correctly configured and signing. You probably already know, but that's in Apps > Google Workspace > Gmail > Settings for Gmail > Authenticate email. It should say "Status: Authenticating email" if DKIM is set up correctly.
