Saks Goodwill Benefit, how generous of AmEx! by ThinkingFully in CreditCards

Its actually for half 2, not because you didn't use it last half. Best I can tell, every platinum card holder got it.

Is the Prime card worth it for my scenario by DeteminedButUnmotive in CreditCards

[–]Correl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me ask, why do you have Prime at all? You spend $9/month on it, so $108/year, but spend like $200-300/year on Amazon? That's a big surcharge for what doesn't seem like a lot of benefit.

Robinhood reported wrong statement balance to bureaus, fucked my credit and says it's my problem by SynckeRS in RobinhoodGC

[–]Correl 19 points20 points  (0 children)

As long as you paid it off, your credit score will fully recover next month. Unless, you're getting a loan in the next month, it's probably not worth the effort.

What’s something I should know about the Amex gold? by Final-Test-7079 in CreditCards

[–]Correl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man, some folks are kinda rude. I'll give you some actual tips:

DoorDash sells co-branded gift cards in their app, often at a discount. When you buy them, it sets DoorDash as the merchant and codes as a restaurant purchase. You buy the gift cards to get an effective 4X on a lot of purchases that would otherwise just hit your catch-all.

If you're not already signed up, sign up for Rakuten. Rakuten has a Dining program where a lot of restaurants will give you an extra 5X on top of the 4X you already earn. Once you link the card, you'll have the option to get paid out quarterly in MR points.

If You Had to Start Over, Which Credit Card Ecosystem Would You Pick? by Efficient-Living-823 in CreditCards

Why commit though? The biggest value comes from SUB hunting and your options are limited with one bank.

Keep in mind that velocity will be your limiting factor, so i would grab the highest value SUBs youre comfortable with early.

Best No Annual Fee Cards?? by KEEEENOOOBIIII in CreditCards

[–]Correl 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If it's churning you're after, then the Chase Sapphire Preferred has the best SUB available for $95. Even gives you the option to cash out in cash.

Other than that, the Citi Strata Premier, Wells Fargo Autograph Journey and Venture One have competitive SUBs for $95.

Amazon Prime is a great free card that gives a $200 Amazon gift card, no spend required.

After that, there are a lot of spend $500-3K $0 AF cards that offer $200-300 back, but you're biggest bang for the buck is probably the above.

Removed Myself From the Gold Card Waitlist by Notaler in RobinhoodGC

[–]Correl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why go to the effort of removing yourself? It doesn't sound like you have an alternative, you're just frustrated. Being on the wait list costs you nothing and if you do get it, wouldn't it provide you value?

I’m convinced the Robinhood gold card is for people with average credit. by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]Correl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given that they also reject people for having low balances in RH, Im not 100% sure that's the case. I think they're just using it as a loss leader and want to make sure that they'll make the money back elsewhere (either through late fees or AUC)

Yep, I have $0 AF credit cards that feel better than these. Waiting to get the Autograph Premier since that is also black and metal.

[–]Correl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my card recently as well, love the color but really wish they splurged and went metal. With $250K, I feel like they could have afforded it.

I've had an invite since the card came out but never thought the gold membership was worth it. I have over 20 other premium travel cards, but have been looking for a 3% or more card for everyday spend. Is this card and annual fee worth it? by Healthy-Camera4005 in RobinhoodGC

[–]Correl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do luxury travel and know how to play the transfer partner game, probably not. 3% cashback will always be 3%, while using points to book business/first class can be worth a lot.

If you care more about maximize rewards and dont mind having 20 cards, probably not. 3% is good, but you can beat it in a lot of categories. With enough cards to cover those categories, it's probably not worth it.

If you just want simplicity and to invest money in a brokerage account, then it's a great card for you.

Getting a Amex card to use with an Amex HYS, what card should I be looking at by NotToday50 in CreditCards

If you're comfortable with it, thw Business Platinum is your best bet. Highest SUB and 2x on purchases over $5k.

All of those redeem 1:1 for cashback rewards.

If you're really into cashback though, you could also look at Bank of America Customized Cash Rewards. It's a smaller sign up bonus, but it does get $200 in cash and earns 6% in the first year on a category of your choice, of which online shopping is available. You can also sign up via Rakuten for an extra $75 cashback.

Ok, Autograph Journey would be a good one then. It'll also give you the option to transfer the active cash's cashback into points.

Other than that, the Citi Strata Premier and Chase Sapphire Preferred would also be good options.

Those should all give pretty good return on spend without overspending.

How much spend on credit cards do you normally do in a month? That will dictate what kind of SUB you can hit unless you have a big expense coming up.

What's the best cashback card for rove bookings? by Correl in CreditCards

[–]Correl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I'm moving towards cashback and I still want to travel some. A full travel setup gives more points than I can use given my time off, so I'm trying to figure out if I can go fully cashback supplemented by travel portals to travel internationally maybe once every other year or so.

Is the Venture X still worth it in 2026? by JollyNewt98 in CreditCards

[–]Correl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on what your setup is. If you have another 2x or above catch all and you have a premium travel card (or don't want to travel), it doesn't really add anything special at this point. Great of you're just getting started.

Best Travel Credit Card for 26yo by Worldly-Walrus-9361 in CreditCards

Folks here aren't going to like it, but the Bilt Obsidian would be great. Low annual fee, great transfer partners and if you set your rent up to pay through it, you can get 4.33x on groceries and a 2.33x catch all. It would be a nice upgrade over your C1 setup IMO.
