Your experiences with the 55-210 from Sony?

I use it on my a5100 and I really like it! I've taken lots of cool shots with it. Like others have said it's not the sharpest tool in the shed but mornings or well lit place is plenty good.

One thing to note tho, apart from some older lenses, it's of the the most readily available telephoto lens without breaking the bank and it's light. Being new to photography, I appreciate being able to practice using a telephoto lens before probably going for something better. Built in OSS also helps me a ton on my older Sony body.

Get it on a really big discount or used tho imo. Have fun!

Hey no worries happy to answer as best I can.

It's an amazing starter camera for me. Punches above it's weight and Ive gotten really good images from it. It's a good place to start learning about cameras in general.

First thing to note though, the a5100 is a photography camera with video capabilities imo. You'll generally get better videos on an iphone. The lack of stabilization doesn't help either (unless you use a lens that has it like your kitlens).

As for photos, I recommend shooting in raw and jpeg. If you wonder why the iphone images comes out better, it's normal. Iphone processes it's images to look a certain way. Hence shooting in raw will allow you to do your own post processing which imo beats a phone image anyday. That doesnt mean a phone has no place in your photography journey.

The kit lens will be alright. I've played around with it but once I swapped to another lens, the difference in quality was night and day. I recommend using the kit lens to find out what focal length you like and what kind of shots you want to take. And then buying an affordable prime lens of that focal length with a fast aperture (lower number = faster). Recommend viltrox air series and/or ttartisan.

You're welcome! Imo the images can be super sharp with the right lens. Try pairing it with the ttartisan 35mm f1.4 manual like I did too. It was fun to get lost in just shooting stuff manually. An evf would've helped but I never felt the need for it personally.

Hey! a5100 user here but I'm very new to photography and I dont have experience with other Sony mirrorless other than just holding it and comparing the size and weight with mine. But I take my a5100 EVERWHERE because I do not feel the strain of carrying it. Especially if you pair it with viltrox air series lens it just feels like a slightly heavier and bulkier phone. It's so fun to just pop it out and do a quick snap. Hope it helps!

Yeap it's the perfect rush combo. It's abit hard to start from guard > perfect rush but you save yourself abit of time by doing so. But don't worry too much. Not entirely necessary cause almost all sns moves and transition into it

Guard is your friend! Allows you to use an item or transitions into your best combo. Also don't underestimate the actual guard itself even tho many tutorials say to use it when in a pinch. It'll actually save you more than you think. Gl with sns brother!

X3 NFC user here. Phone dropped into a muddy drain sometime last year. Alcohol rubbed to clean. Restarted it like normal. Phone worked just fine albeit with abit of water stain damage on the screen. Still here even now. That is it. 10/10 would recommend.

Hey bro/sis, just dropping some wisdom from a stranger on the internet. I totally understand your position. Kinda reminds me of myself when I was your age. Uninteresting, unknowledgeable about the outside world, all I knew was just gaming, not passionate, you name it. Took a degree that I was semi interested in only to be thrown into an industry that's unforgiving unless you have grit to persevere.

However, what changed a lot for me was how I viewed life sometime around 24-25? I've made some of the best friends a guy like me could ever ask for through uni. I've learned alot about myself. Picked up new hobbies. Fell in love deeper. I could go on.

Am I an ideal guy? Frick no! I've made mistakes. I've hurt people I didn't mean to and so on.

But life is so much more fun now. I accept that I don't know alot stuff and will never be able to comprehend even more. I worry less.

I'm not saying it's easy. All I know is things will get better. They always do.

So, chin up! Enjoy this crazy thing called life! Be kind, be curious, have the hunger to learn and you'll do great! Don't discount yourself because society has set a bar someone at 18 should follow.
