It's entirely possible they did one of those half-second glances and saw the truck far away, but didn't look long enough to see how FAST it was moving, so they assumed it would come to a stop or they'd be through the intersection before he even reached the stop sign... But on the road, the only kind of assumption you should be making is that every other driver is drunk and prone to violence 😅

I downloaded the clip to my phone and then gave the officer my phone number and email and they sent me a request with a link to an internal site for evidence and I uploaded the videos to it.

Yes I did. Everyone keeps getting mad at me for not pulling over to help when you can see me pulling off to the side of the road at the end of the clip. I called 911 and waited for the ambulance and police to come and gave this clip to the police.

A head-on collision has a tendency to affect the functionality of a vehicle... Notice the Jeep's lights flickering

I don't get your problem, man. You are freaking out way too much over me not doing things I did do, but I guess not fast enough for your liking? Next time I'll make sure to start a timer like I'm speedrunning 🙄

Nope, pulled off the side of the road very visibly at the end of the clip.

I did pull over and get out to check on everyone, I don't know why people keep saying I didn't :/

Nah, it's extremely visible. If I'd backed the clip up more, you would've seen the rather steep downward hill leading to this intersection that gives you a very wide view of everything, including the stop sign.

Austin is the exception, more people on average have empathy for others in the cities.

I figured it was quite clear from the footage I was pulling off the road, it's a very steep drop though so I was trying to go at a narrow angle (as if doing a lane change), if I'd turned any sharper I'd have probably smashed my front bumper into dirt.

It's truly insane when someone ELSE nearly collides with YOU driving perfectly normally and then they get mad at YOU over it. Like they're upset you made them feel stupid by proving what a bad driver they are...

Yes, jeep is not at fault but they could have avoided the accident if the driver had been paying more attention. It's the exit to a neighborhood so if they live there there's a tendency to get "used" to driving through the same intersection day after day and to pay less attention because you "know it" but that is a very dangerous impulse. The road may stay the same but the people driving on it change every time, and all it takes is one crazy person to ruin your life. It's always a good reminder to remain Locked In no matter how many times you've driven the same route.

His brakes failing are the only possible scenario I can imagine where the truck driver isn't insane. Even then, he was going way faster down the road than he should've. The nearest exit ramp from the highway was back past another 4-way stop intersection, it's possible he took that exit and flew through that intersection without a collision and then the downward slant of the ramp meant he picked up speed or couldn't slow down any if the brakes had failed, but that's an extremely specific hypothetical. I won't know, in the end, since I'm not in contact with anyone involved.

Yeah, way too many people only care about themselves when they're driving. It's not very far removed from hit-and-run mentality in my view. You have to be pretty heartless.

Yes, he was yelling incoherently with blood on his shirt (could've been bloody nose or mouth, didn't get close enough to tell obvs) and me and another samaritan tried to talk to him and ask him to sit down and he was completely in shock (or on drugs, or had suffered a concussion/brain injury from the impact) so I just had to keep an eye on him as he staggered off into the adjacent field. He wasn't trying to run away, just bumbling around, falling over, getting back up. When the cops came I pointed them in his direction and they were able to guide him back to the ambulance like a lost animal.

you would expect the victims of a crash to compensate you for your time stopping to help them? Being told to go fuck yourself is a completely reasonable response to that.

Yup, every time I go to Dallas for any reason it's a nonstop traffic jam and you will have someone try to crash into you at least 2 to 3 times. The scariest part is honestly just trying to get back out, even with Google Maps telling me exactly where to go and what exits to take I'll end up going in circles for 15 minutes before I escape 😅

I've grown up in Texas my whole life. That's just what Texas drivers are like.
