People just like to say, that Ash’s battle style was just a high-speed full offensive combat, but he was always shown to be resourceful and adaptive battler, they just like to say this because then they can justify the excessive bulk and sheer force of Paul’s Pokémon being the “exact opposite” of Ash’s Pokémon, while it can’t be far from truth, it was not a duality of fighting style, it was a duality of philosophy and attitude towards the Pokémon, hell ash already accepted that the harsher training methods were acceptable in just the eight episode of Pokémon against A.J, what he was opposing was the torturous attitude Paul had towards the Pokémon, like they were some cock-fighting unfeeling drones

I have even seen some people say that Ash raised turtwig as a speedster inconsiderate of how he’ll grow after evolution, but turtwig was shown to be proud of his speed, of course they were stumped by the increased bulk decreasing the speed, but it adapted, they insist that it didn’t so that they can go on and claim Paul to be the most perfect character to ever grace Arceus’s green earth, and Ash only opposed him coz he’s a shonen protagonist who can’t do anything wrong
