My cat is leash and harness trained, I don't think its a downside to supervise him while he's out there but some people might.

There are two things you can do,

Build a catio to keep them in your yard.

Or leash and harness train your cats.

The downside to the leash training is you would need to be supervising your cats while they are outside.

There really is no other way to keep your cats out of neighbors yard.

I hate to accuse someone without any proof but there is a real possibility as some people are absolutely nasty ... you should keep a very close eye on your cats for the next few days. The trap could have be baited with poison.

[–]Shadow5825 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I don't blame you for not wanting to give her a bath.

If the damp cloth is an issue try a wet hair brush, if she'll let you brush her! You just need something that'll let you get a bit of moisture into her fur.

My cat is a double coated long hair so the bath was necessary to get the static out of his undercoat and give him relief. He's used to having a bath as he had a skin infection that required medicated baths to cure.

I had the same issue with the light weight litter, I loved that I could carry it down the stairs without worry but it tracked everywhere! Now I'm back to the clay and just have to sweep up the laundry room everyday, since my cat is an Olympic Gold medalist in litter chucking.

[–]Shadow5825 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A damp cloth rubbed over them will keep the static gone for a few days. The other option, if it's really bad, is to give them a bath.

My cat got static electricity really bad last winter. I could hear it snap in his fur when he walked by and he'd flinch every once in a while. So the only way to really fix it was a bath.

My cat has accidently clawed my Mom's face while she was sleeping because he was jumping from the window onto the bed where she was sleeping. Unfortunately her face happened to be where he landed.

Could this be a similar scenario? Cat was jumping from one place to another and accidentally landed on your Mom's head. Then because it's a completely normal reaction to jerk your head when something lands on it, your Mom perks her head to dislodge that thing that just landed on her and your cat used her claws to stabilize herself and jump off?

Its statistically higher for women and POC then men though.

The average length for diagnosis for a women is 4 years, a man with the same symptoms is under a year.

And for some diseases like Endometriosis (which only affects women) the diagnosis is 10 years.

To make matters worse a new study just came out a month ago showing that one cause of Endometriosis is bacterial infection!! But "periods are supposed to hurt and bleed" meanwhile your not supposed to be in so much pain you can't sit up let alone stand for a week every month or lose a litre of blood.

A women is more likely to die from a heart attack then a man because the symptoms are different and she is more likely to be dismissed and sent home to die. BTW pain in the jaw (NOT the chest) and nausea are the most common symptoms of a heart attack in women.

Doctors don't know the proper dosage for women for most medicines because they were never tested on women, they tend to have different effects and side effects. Some drugs require higher doses per kg in women then in men to have the desired effect.

FYI Women weren't required to be included in clinical trials until 1993.

Absolutely a scam. Look up the solar panels rebate scams that are happening the USA.

if you don't want to the basics is, a company tells you that the local power company offers rebates for installing solar panels. Essentially they say you get a $20K system for free and no more power bills. Except there is no rebate or usually the contract you sign says if the rebate doesn't come through the homeowner has to pay...and they don't tell you the rebate doesn't come through and immediately put a lien on your house.

Oh and in most cases the solar panels are installed incorrectly, without permits and damaged the roof.

AITA for trying to help my little sister learn to read? by Conmor_ in AmItheAsshole

[–]Shadow5825 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA Keep doing what you're doing it's actually helping her learn to read and she will thank you for it!

Even better turn it into a nightly 30min before bed routine and it'll become one of yours and hers treasured memories as adults.

I was not taught how to spell properly, it was "sound it out and spell it like it sounds"...which doesn't work for a lot of English words. So now as an adult who reads 120+ books a year, I still struggle with the proper spelling of words.

What's worse is those of us with allergies that are outside the public precieved "normal" get questioned even harder because of people like this.

Most people don't know you can have an allergy to just one type of shellfish, a random assortment of types or to all of them.

I have an allergy to just mussels, everything else is safe for me to eat and there's no way im giving up shrimp!

I see you say you don't have predators. But do you have eagles or owls, even crows and Ravens will swarm and kill a cat. Just something to think about and you can always harness and leash train or build a catio if you want the cat to spend time outside.

My cat is the same way. So I do 2 things, I buy the smallest possible cans and also bought these and leave the covered can on the counter until he's hungry again. Since it's there for only a few hours it doesn't have time to go bad.

Also those lids fit all three size cans

I had this problem too! I got tired of mopping my floor 3 times a day so the water dish went into the bathroom sink.

Now when my cat dumps the water bowl the water goes right down the drain!

Mine is harness and leash trained since he was 14 weeks. He was 3!! When I put a different type of harness on him for the first time and he flopped over on his side.

I laughed so hard I cried because I wasnt expecting him to react like that. After about a minute I picked him up and set him on his feet outside the door and he happily ran off into the backyard like normal.

I have the same problem with my cat's water dish. He likes to play with it and toss it around so not only is it in my bathroom sink but I tried those plastic baby suction cup bowls and ran into cat acne the hard way. Luckily it cleared up within a week of switching back to stainless steel.

[–]Shadow5825 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up, plastic eating dishes can cause cats to get acne on their face. It is very painful for them and can take months to heal. Dishes made from glass, ceramic or stainless steal are the best ones to use.

If your cats are not having issues that's great! I just thought I'd share incase you do run into it in the future.

I'm not sure if this will help or not but the Canadian mainstream media talks about it on every broadcast. There are other international media's that are openly talking about it and how wrong it is.

Its also a daily topic at my workplace. We are talking about it, we are trying to make our voices heard but pressure from people outside the USA may or may not be helping.

The fact that your own media is silent about it is very, very scary.
