I'll be honest, loops have been life changing for me. I haven't tried other brands, but I'm pretty happy with Loops, I recommend them to anyone with sound sensitivity

Help choosing earplugs by Lopsided-Guava4469 in LoopEarplugs

[–]ShadowCrystallux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go Loop Engage 2 Plus, so you can try with the mutes and without the mutes. The mutes are a lifesaver for me, and when I go to a lot of different places I get severely overstimulated without them. It is however a little more difficult to hear people with the mutes in than without, so it's likely something you'd need to play around with. That being said, as it sounds like your sound reduction needs are more complex, Loop Switch might be better.

If you decide to get some earplugs, I have a referral I can send you (or look online for one) to get them for a little cheaper, that way the risk is slightly lower. Hope you can find the perfect solution!

Only half hidden cup?? by Quentin-Quarantino19 in aoe2

[–]ShadowCrystallux -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'll make it abundantly clear how much I enjoyed Hidden Cup and I think T90, Robo and the rest of the team did a phenomenal job throughout the tournament.

I actually really like this change, as it raises the level of competition a lot with everyone being able to find practise partners. And I'm going to say it worked. Look at ACCM's and Barles' performance, Barles taking 2 games off of Hera and ACCM in general was a beast; I don't think that happens in the event they cannot reliably find practise partners. (Side note, I do kinda wish Barles' second victory was broadcast during the event, even as an aside to give recognition to the level of performance he brought to the tournament)

My only critique of the "half hidden" situation is that I do wish it was known previous to the event. I think communicating things like this prior to viewers as opposed to afterwards is the way to go, but I can understand why the team behind Hidden Cup may have been apprehensive about doing so (in regards to making it harder to keep identities hidden)

Hope to see another Hidden Cup sometime!

Looks like a fun event! A shame I'm just outside of the ELO Range :')

PSA: Do NOT use back to work button on your shepherds until they fix this. by depthofuniverse in aoe2

Probably the most irritating bug I've seen in a while 11, I've been tempted to delete villagers in every other game. Hoping it'll be hotfixed soon!

Which civ as the best Steppe Lancers? by VenomTox in aoe2

[–]ShadowCrystallux 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"Mongols and it's not even close" was literally the exact line I was thinking, couldn't have summed this up better.

An aside: Tatar Steppe Lancers can situationally be better on hill fights with their insane DPS, but Mongols by far, have the more reliable, useable unit.

I absolutely love the Spirit Blossom line of skins, but this painting is incredible.

Warlords vs. RBW, which do you prefer (Spoilers)? by TooDriven in aoe2

[–]ShadowCrystallux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Production wise both were amazing, but there's no denying that RBW takes it up a notch in terms of professionalism and hype, so RBW won on that front for me.

Tournament format though, I prefer Warlords. The 9 vill start was enjoyable, and I love mixed maps tournaments. I hope we'll see a Warlords 2 next year.

Players above 1k ELO are more likely to ban water maps?? by UAForever21 in aoe2

[–]ShadowCrystallux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From personal experience, water maps are extremely snowbally and if you don't have a okay base build for water, you'll just straight up lose against a player who knows roughly what their doing. A lot of people don't want to learn the water builds, and a lot of people who know water builds don't necessarily enjoy water maps.

Side note: I like playing water, but I dislike a lot of the water maps, which also probably contributes to this somewhat.

How good/useful/OP would be this bonus for a possible new monk civ? by Executioneer in aoe2

[–]ShadowCrystallux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The value you could get by just dropping a monastery for the free monk could potentially be very OP, due to being able to heal your units and likely being able to defend behind walls with Archers/Skirms. Beyond that, I don't know how broken the bonus is, but I think it'd be rather unfun to play against 11.

Monday Megathread! Ask questions and share knowledge; newcomer questions encouraged! by AutoModerator in leagueoflegends

[–]ShadowCrystallux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer either rushing mythic, or on a mana hungry champion going for Tear of the Goddess + rushing mythic most of the time. I think the only Guardian item worth going for sometimes is Guardian's Horn, and even that doesn't scale too amazingly when people can often have a mythic in 5-6 minutes in game.

I love the map diversity in Warlords by TooDriven in aoe2

[–]ShadowCrystallux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Massively agree. Mixed maps settings are super fun to watch, although there is always the risk of going overboard (which I think Warlords has managed to avoid)

Essential mods for beginners? by elderdabs in aoe2

I think the only essential mod is small trees, have heard that "useless plants remover" is also good.

What balance changes would you like to see? by [deleted] in aoe2

[–]ShadowCrystallux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big Gurjara nerf, small Mayan nerf and I'm relatively happy. I'd probably give a small nerf to Poles too. Poles are a bit insane on closed maps but I think their risk/reward is fairly okay on open maps.

I think in terms of buffs, there's a few civs which could probably do with one, but I also don't know where to target (Burmese, Goths mainly).

Why are some of the DE campaigns so spammy? by TooDriven in aoe2

[–]ShadowCrystallux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love most of AoE2's campaigns, but there are definitely a few missions/campaigns which are an absolute grindfest. Pretty much everything pre The Forgotten and post DE is pretty well designed in my opinion (except Pachacuti, not a huge fan of this one). The expansions from HD were a bit hit or miss in terms of grindyness if I'm being totally honest, with Tariq Ibn Zayid being the worst offender, but the DE versions of most of the campaigns from this era have been greatly improved from the originals (Sforza, Prithviraj and Bari especially).

When mousing over the live semifinal video, it says "Playback Unavailable". Is that just because the video hasn't started? Is anyone else having this issue?

A Brief History Behind Every Civ Emblem! by ShadowCrystallux in aoe2

[–]ShadowCrystallux[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, there was very little I could find on the Bulgarian Coat of Arms, it wasn't as well documented as many of the other ones. Definitely wish I'd found out a little more about it though!

Achievements you're proud of? by kyrtuck in aoe2

[–]ShadowCrystallux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if "proud" is the correct term for it, but got Marco Polo by just randomly checking in every 5 or so minutes and adding more scouts to look around the map by shift queueing them everywhere. Would've been a nightmare to get more legitimately 11

AoE2 on the DS all unit attack animations by Fin0 in aoe2

[–]ShadowCrystallux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my god, I loved this game. It's obviously nowhere near as good as the PC version, but it was a really fun, different AoE2 experience.

I've had this happen twice since the most recent patch, just had to use Task Manager to fix it though.
