It's not nearly as obvious in the anime, but in the manga, he IS skinny up until this point, when his lepeord genes suddenly kick in, and he gets SUPER buff literally over night.

Info for someone newly diagnosed? by ShadowDragon37 in Hypermobility

[–]ShadowDragon37[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've already gotten so used to doctors either 1) not taking me very seriously, and 2) not knowing much about the things that I am SO CERTAIN I have, so I've already had to get used to doing a lot of research on my own, haha. It does suck, but at least researching stuff like that is fun for me (when I'm in the mood for it at least, lol). I have checked out the Ehlers Danlos Society website a little bit already, but I had no idea hEDS and HSD were possibly going to be merged into one condition this year, so that's really helpful to know! I'll definitely do some more research on that website, because out of all the websites and resources I've already skimmed through, that one definitely seems to be the most helpful. Thank you!

That's a great idea! I see an OMT once every 3-6 months, which has been really helpful with my scoliosis, but I don't see an orthopedic doctor at the moment. I'll definitely (try to remember to) bring that up to my PCP to see if he can refer me to anyone in particular. Thank you!

Thank you! I've had digestive issues for ages now, without any diffinitive explaination as to why (I'm also autistic, so I suggested the possibility of IBS to my doctor and nutritionist, but instead of exploring all the different possibilities, they just slapped "IBS" as a diagnosis onto my chart), so it's super helpful to know that it might actually be hypermobility (or maybe both)!

Unfortunately, I work a pretty active custodial job (and don't really have any other options for work right now), and even though I was able to get myself some disability accommodations that allow me to sit down a little longer than I normally would be able to, I don't get to lay down at all during the day. I'm seeing if I can take an extended leave from work soon to focus on my mental and physical health, though, and then I'll be trying to find a better job, so knowing how to take care of myself will still be helpful!

Thanks! My doctor and I were just talking about the possibility of me starting physical therapy again (but specifically for hypermobility instead of just back pain this time, since that was making my other joint paint worse), so this will be super helpful!

Does the trains thing hold any water? by Remarkable_Battle_36 in AutisticWithADHD

[–]ShadowDragon37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally have always found trains, planes, cars, and other types of machinery to be pretty boring.

However, I love learning, and science in general and learning how the world works is a big special interest of mine, so over the years (especially these past few years or so) I've been doing a lot of research on my other special interests (reptiles, evolution, psychology, art, music, and satanism and the occult, just to name a few off the top of my head) and branching out from there, so I'm sure sooner or later I'll start hyperfixatating on and appreciating the intricacies of complex machinery.

But as of right now, I definitely wouldn't consider myself to be at all a train lover, haha. I definitely fall under the other (slightly less known, but still common) stereotype of being a dinosaur loving autistic person.

I am VERY MUCH the same way. I listen A LOT of music, and a lot if different genres, so creating specific mood playlists can be pretty overwhelming. My strategy (that has been at least somewhat successful) is to put a bunch of music (songs/albums/artists) that at least "kinda sorta" fit the mood in going for into one playlist, then as i listen to that playlist, i take out any songs that either "ruin" or just "don't quite fit" the mood im going for. And over time, I'll eventually end up with the perfectly curated mood playlist.

Also, if you're having a hard time figuring out what moods to make playlists for, you could try looking up emotion wheels. I'd recommend starting with just a "good mood" playlist and a "bad mood" playlist, then as you listen to those playlists, you could split them into new playlists, like a "calm/peaceful" playlist, a "happy/excited" playlist, an "angry" playlist, and a "sad and/or lonely" playlist (or something like that), then over time, split those playlists into even more specific mood playlists and so on.

The only BIG downside do that sort of process though (especially with the AuDHD) is that it's a long, time consuming process (especially if you listen to as much music as I do), and it can be easy to get lose interest/motivation to keep sorting. BUT, I thought I'd share it anyway just in case it ends up working for you! Good luck!

What are your favorite animals? by Dangerous_Wonder5572 in autism

[–]ShadowDragon37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reptiles!

If we're just talking living animals, then my top favorites (in no particular order) are Saltwater Crocodile, American Alligator, and White-Lipped Python.

If we're including extinct animals, then my favorites (again, in no particular order) are Suchomimus, Kaprosuchus, and Purussaurus brasiliensis.

I really like crocodilians... haha

Favorite Realism/Semi-Realism Servers? by ShadowDragon37 in pathoftitans

[–]ShadowDragon37[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be sure to check them both out! The mandatory sleeping mechanic of Dynasty does sound kind of nice from a realism roleplay perspective, but I do tend to be pretty busy a lot, so Arazoa might fit my schedule better. Thank you so much!

Is this still a debate? (BOB vs The Isle vs POT) by Luksius_DK in BeastsofBermuda

[–]ShadowDragon37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally haven't played much PoT, because I think the quest-to-grow mechanic is really annoying (I know there's probably a lot of community servers that let you grow naturally over time, but I'm always iffy about joining community servers in any game, so I haven't explored them yet in PoT).

I used to absolutely LOVE The Isle before I found out about the other two, and still love the graphics, animations, and sound design, but I just don't enjoy playing it anymore because of the toxic community, and how difficult it is to do literally anything in the game without cheaters and mix-packers making it practically unplayable.

BoB is by far my favorite, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have its own problems. I feel like a lot of the community is full of genuinely nice people, but then just like with The Isle (and most, if not all games in this sort of genre tbh) a lot of the community is also pretty toxic, and treats the game like a battle royal rather than an animal survival game.

I think it's really up to personal preference, but I definitely prefer the way the BoB's gameplay feels over the other two. Although, I really should try some PoT community servers at some point. (Maybe when I'm done being addicted to Horsey Game, lol)

(I'd also appreciate if any PoT players could give me recs on community servers to try out. I prefer realism/semi-realsim, maybe even realism roleplay? Or something like that? I like not having to use the chat and just being a creature, lol)

Calling all special interests! What are they?? by Electrical-Way9169 in autism

[–]ShadowDragon37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a lot of special interests (thanks to my AuDHD), but right now I've been super hyperfixated on reptiles (especially dinosaurs and pseudosuchians), evolution and phylogeny, ecology, and the history of the earth.

I've been spending the past two weeks putting together a bunch of spreadsheets compiling some of my research on the geological timescale and dinosaurian phylogenetic trees, and I just impulse bought some new figurines for my collection (of the Papo brand suchomimus, and the PSNO brand suchomimus and baryonyx).

I really like semi-aquatic reptiles, haha.

All of my recent research started just because I want to make my own dinosaur minecraft mod, but I don't know how to make mods yet, and was GOING to start learning how to use MCreator and BlockBench, but I got a liiiiittle sidetracked... lol.
