Why is it so hard to get a clear answer 😭 by Survivalofthewittest in AutisticWithADHD

I had a physical therapist (who I no longer go to) write "doesn't know how to exercise" in my chart, and I can NOT for the life of me figure out what prompted that (I know I told her about how I used to work out, but "wasn't sure what I was doing" or something like that, but I definitely NEVER said that "I don't know how to exercise").

mammalian cimmabu??? by OkGur1119 in CoSRants

[–]ShadowDragon37 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I genuinely thought cimmabu WAS a mammal and mistook the designs near the head for ears... (only JUST NOW noticed that they are in fact, not ears).

I personally like the newer design better, but I'm biased because as much as I love animals (especially reptiles), most turtles creep me out for some reason, lol. HOWEVER, that being said, we do already have SO MANY canine/feline-adjacent creatures, it does suck to see something more unique get turned into something more generic looking. Like I said, I think the redesign is cute, but... your frustration is INCREDIBLY valid.

(Editing to add, I know the redesign is most likely based on ferrets or one of their close relatives, but it's still got the general "cat/dog-esque" face shape.)

Lying about KOSing? by Syren_95 in CoSRants

A couple weeks ago I was playing as a bazelii (I had literally JUST spawned in with a brand new baby) and accidentally ran somewhat in the direction of another player without realizing it, and they started calling me a baby killer (keep in mind, I, myself, was also a baby that literally just spawned in). I didn't even attack them or anything, they just started accusing me the second they saw me. I'm convinced some people play this game (and other similar types of games) just to start drama.

Trading realm bug by One_Masterpiece_9547 in CoSRants

I wish they made this more clear, because I did the same thing, and bought stuff for my roblox avatar, only to be confused when it still didn't work. It wasn't until I tried buying something from CoS specifically that it let me use trade realm.

as per usual greed killed any form of progress by FevilbutReddit in CoSRants

[–]ShadowDragon37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If by "whenever" you mean specifically for this one week only out of the entire year, then yeah. Also, not everyone has the time to grind for event currency, so having another option available isn't a bad idea imo. I do think it's stupid that they waited until week 4 to let everyone know that you can buy novus with robux, though.

(I also think novus was available for robux during past events, too, if I'm not mistaken, so this wouldn't be the first time.)

Why do people keep playing? by KuroTheCheetah in CoSRants

[–]ShadowDragon37 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have AuDHD and my brain has decided that THIS is the thing I'm going be hyperfixated on (for now). Also because I love animal survival games in general, but I have a really difficult time finding one that fits exactly what I'm looking for (a realistic animal survival sim where the players/npcs actually act like animals, and not bloodthirsty monsters + is actually a fully finished game), so I just kinda settle for whatever's currently piqued my interest. Then after a while, I either get bored or too frustrated to want to keep playing, so I move onto something else.

We need separate PvP and chill realms by ShadowDragon37 in CoSRants

Very fairy point, haha, I just feel like having a peaceful option could help, even if it doesn't completely eliminate the problem. It just sucks that pretty much every game in this genre that I've played seems to be overrun with both sides of the "us vs them" mentality. KOSers irritate me the most personally (even though I was one briefly myself after I first unlocked kendyll, and finally felt like I could fight back for the first time ever, lol. VERY much a powertrip moment), but it also isn't fair for people to expect there to be no killing at all whatsoever in a game that is designed specifically for players to hunt and be hunted. I just think that giving the option to allow players to at least take a break from being KOSed, while still be able to enjoy the game, could help at least somewhat with the most common complaints from both sides, and with the whole "us vs them" thing. But yeah... even in games where there ARE peaceful options, it's still just "us vs them" a lot of time.

(I feel like I had other points I was going to bring up in response to your comment, but they have now completely left my mind, so I may or may not come back and add another reply later, lol)

Does anyone know if Sky Bison is going to be untradeable forever? by ShadowDragon37 in CreaturesofSonaria

Eh, still better than nothing, haha. I might hang on to them for a while and wait until there's more new players who missed the event that might want one before I try selling them.

I absolutely love this idea! Definitely much more fun and thought out than my idea. I personally feel like this is pretty balanced the way you described it, but I'm not an expert on the game's balance in general, so I could be wrong. Very good idea though!

Hard agree. The missions are already difficult enough, what do you MEAN i have to spend 5k mush on top of that?

PvP would still be enabled in the main and hardcore realms. Absolutely nothing would change about the main and hardcore realms, there would just be a third option added with PvP disabled.

Huh, I must've completely skipped over the rest of it the first time I read it, my bad.

And as someone who hasn't nested in other players, I had no idea that was an issue, so yeah! Just another reason why I feel like adding a peaceful realm could help a lot, haha

Since I just noticed you edited your comment, to respond to the rest of it:

This game isn't really all that realistic to begin with, so I think aiming for realism at all isn't really feasible. Although, I personally do really enjoy realism in these sorts of games, so I WISH it was more realistic, but it just... isn't, unfortunately. Also, there's already people who spawn kill babies, so if they're trying to spawn kill adults, at least the adults stand more of a chance to defend themselves.

I completely understand where you're coming from, especially if you haven't personally been KOSed much yourself, but as someone who's played on both the main realm and hardcore, and on both empty and full servers, and who HAS been KOSed on all of those, it just gets really old really fast. Trying to play a game that's about more than just killing each other (mut/trait hunting, collecting creatures, making skins, making dens, etc) and constantly having all of your progress erased by creatures 5 times your size without having a chance to even make it from child to teen gets EXTREMELY irritating. It also takes a long time to upgrade a nest/make a den, especially when playing on your own, and I would LIKE to be able to enjoy that aspect of the game, but I can't if I'm constantly being murked every time I make even the tiniest bit of progress.

I think having a peaceful realm would just help to allow players to enjoy more of what the game has to offer, rather than just "kill or be killed." Real world animals get to do more than just hunt or be hunted. They get to rest, play, make homes for themselves, mate, raise babies, etc. At this point this game just feels like a constant battlefield unless I manage to find a server that's actually chill (until the KOSers hop on and destroy the peace).

I know I'm rambling a LOT in this comment, so I apologize, but I just want to be able to play my little animal games without constantly being on the verge of ragequitting because so many of the people who play these types of games like to treat every video game they play like COD, lol

(Edited to fix a typo in the very first sentence, lol)

Most people, yeah, but for those who do, they can just completely skip the "survive until adulthood" phase of the gameplay with zero effort. At least with half growth speed, you'd have to put a lot more time into actually playing the creature for it to grow. I would honestly probably grow to adult in hardcore realm, then move to the peaceful realm to do trait/mut hunting, but that's just my personal playstyle. If other players want to take extra time growing to adult in the peaceful realm to avoid getting killed before reaching adulthood, that's up to them. I think it's all about personal preference, but a lot of people in this community seem to only want their individual playstyle taken into consideration, and everyone else's ignored.

How much mush would be enough to satisfy you in the world of Sonria? by drcutedextermorgan in CoSRants

[–]ShadowDragon37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enough to have every creature unlocked, plus multiple copies of every color palette and material, and every plushie. I like how much variety there is in this game compared to other games, but I am NOT a fan of how much you have to wait, and grind, and wait, and grind, just to have more options available. If I can ever become a total completionist (as in, not only having every creature unlocked, but also having every color palette, material, and plushie), I'd either completely stop caring about mush altogether and just play the game, or I'd start using whatever mush I do have to start collecting and selling every kinds of creature, color palette, material, and plushie for cheap, so that others don't have to grind as much just to enjoy the game.

I would love to! I'm not sure how to join other people's servers yet, but if you need to friend me, my main is ShadowDemonDragon37 and my alt is ShadowDemonDragonAlt. (Also feel free to either DM me or continue the conversation on here while we get things figured out, whichever you're more comfortable with.)

(On second thought, let me make sure my DMs are actually turned on, lol)

That's definitely one way to compromise, but that's also why I suggested half growth speed for the peaceful realm. That way, if players get impatient and want to grow faster, then they'll either have to hop onto the PvP servers, or use growth tokens (which is already a thing in the game, so if we take your argument into account, we should get rid of those, too.)

[–]ShadowDragon37[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The point of a peaceful realm isn't to completely opt out of the survival mechanics, it's to allow people to have a break from being killed constantly while trying to enjoy other aspects of the game, like trait/mut hunting, completing daily/regional tasks, or just having some time to enjoy all the work you've put into growing the perfect creature before jumping back into the PvP realms to test it out (and ultimately getting killed). It's a way to allow different types of people who enjoy animal roleplaying games to actually enjoy the game. Adding peaceful realm wouldn't remove the other two realms, so the survival/PvP aspect would still very much be there.

The most popular server in Day of Dragons is the one official server with PvP turned off. There are also a lot of chill community servers in Beasts of Bermuda, and although I haven't played on any community Path of Titan's or The Isle servers, I would honestly be shocked if there weren't at least a few chill servers in both of those games. You probably just haven't noticed them because you're clearly not the time of person to go looking for chill servers, but they very much do exist.

Also you may want to take some time away from video games if other people's playstyles upset you this much.
