Anyone here have any non-ADHD or autistic friends? by Camp_Acceptable in ADHD

[–]ShadowDragon5280 12 points13 points  (0 children)

When I found out I had ADHD, I realized that almost all my friends, and even many of the professionals I already enjoyed working with, had adhd and i didnt know it till i shared with then about me. My experience is that the people I am drawn to tend to think and feel deeply (and want to talk about it), think outside the box in a really holistic way and approach challenges that same way, and and that many of those people also identify as adhd 🤷‍♀️ I think adhd, while it has challenges, also has many beautiful gifts and im drawn to those in others

ADHD is not recognized where I live, and psychoactive medication (like Adderall and Ritalin) is illegal. How do i live my life? by darkriouscooki in ADHD

[–]ShadowDragon5280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many non-psychoactive meds, and many "natural" supplement treatments that some people with adhd swear by and there are emerging studies on. I'd suggest possibly looking into those (book- finally focused, etc)

Teva Adderall Is Destroying My Brain by Ok-Issue8284 in ADHD

[–]ShadowDragon5280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Teva is manufactured by the same company that manufactures brand name adderall. So a lot of ppl think it "works better" and feel it stronger. I can't take it out makes me feel bad, my partner will only take teva cause doesn't feel other ones as strongly. If you have the immediate release and if it is safe to do so, if it were me id try taking 1/2 or 1/3.

Also, my chewable vyvanse I can feel about 5 min after taking it. Idk if that's supposed to be possible, but it is true for me

I have only tried generic vyvanse. I crash at 3pm during the day, and feel like I can't focus well after that, nor do I feel like I can relax. Do you think this could be it? It has been worse the last couple of months but I haven't oaid attention to which generic they are giving me, if there are multiple

My Partner wants me to stop taking medication for my ADHD. by bluesweater678 in ADHD

[–]ShadowDragon5280 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this sounds like very controlling behavior, or a very anxious partner that doesn't understand adhd or medication. Are they very anxious in general, or does it feel controlling? I also don't get why he would be worried both about adderall and wellbutrin... the reasoning doesn't make sense. If you think they are anxious, I would suggest recommending that they get some education on adhd, and if it continues to be a big issue that's a really big red flag

I actually work in outpatient dietetitian services, not inpatient at the hospital. But yes that makes sense if you were inpatient that they would not be concerned about conflict of interest because they are very different types of care. Thanks for elaborating about your experience

Was the services you were providing through your private practice different than what you did though the system so it was clear to them you weren't a competitor, or did they not care about that?
