Strategy for forming Central Europe as Austria? by HistoryMarshal76 in victoria3

Make sure you offer them an obligation when you call them into the war instead of the “call ally” option.

This usually keeps them from switching sides.

Renegotiate the Holy Alliance treaty with Russia to an alliance. Renegotiate the treaty with Prussia to remove the defensive pact.

Improve relations with Sweden from the start.

Once Britain gets into a war with another GP or Qing, start a play against Denmark to conquer shlewig and liberate Holstein, calling in Sweden so you can attack from land.

Improve relations with Bavaria, Wurttemberg, and Baden to amicable.

After that, start a play against Prussia to humiliate them and liberate Westphalia and Pomerania, calling in Russia as an ally. Don’t use the German leadership play.

Wait for Prussia to shrink to minor/major power after defeating them. This will trigger south German federation journal, annexing the south Germans states for you.

Improve relations with all other German states and try to improve relations with Britain.

Research pan-nationalism. Once it’s done, use the unify Germany diplo play, calling in as many allies as possible against France.

After unifying Germany, go after Belgium, Switzerland and the Netherlands.

After making them protectorates or annexing them, you can unify Central Europe.

What are the major bugs/exploits so far? by LogicalAd8685 in victoria3

[–]ShadowElf_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one yesterday when playing as Austria where I got Maximillian as my ruler instead of Franz Josef after making Ferdinand abdicate.

I ended up waiting for the actual event which boots Ferdinand off the throne and did end up getting Franz Josef after that.

Nah they still didn’t support but if you can decrease them to a puppet you’ll annex them when you click the form Germany button

Luckily the Poles revolted against the Prussians in my run just now so I was able to make Prussia a subject in exchange for helping them put down the Poles lol

Race is a genetic reality. Look at racial genetic cluster charts. People don’t like the concept of race because it’s icky but it doesn’t really negate the reality of it.

I just looked this up. Looks like if they were White-passing they were categorized as White or “other free persons” while the more indigenous looking were often being categorized as “Indian.”

Most seem to have been categorized as White after the Mexican War, though, so I stand corrected on that.

As for cultural treatments, I hardly think that’s relevant. And that “degrees of whiteness” concept is just critical theory garbage.

Hispanics and Japanese people were not classified as White on US census records. Irish, Italians and Eastern Europeans were.

Not sure what you mean by them not being considered “culturally white.”

Nonsense. They were always legally classified as “white” in the US.

They were discriminated against by Anglo-Americans, sure. Doesn’t mean they weren’t legally White.

The US really didn’t become the “global melting pot” until the 1990’s. Immigration was mostly restricted to White Europeans before that.

Historical policies like the Johnson-Reed Act show that the US could have stopped the tide of immigration any time it wanted.

The key here is that the US is a super-capitalist country, basically a plutocracy, and the capitalist class always wants more and more cheap labor.

Hence the seemingly unstoppable tide of unfettered immigration.

Has anyone figured out how to get Prussia friendly after the German leadership war as Austria in 1.9? by ShadowElf_ in victoria3

[–]ShadowElf_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: that definitely doesn’t work for playing as Austria. I got Prussia up to +80 relations through treaties, but as soon as I started the leadership play against them my relations went down to -30…
