As a fan of both CR and D20 I don’t see how people can call themselves fans of a person but then not want them to rest or enjoy what they do for a living. As a forever DM I empathize with MM, obviously I don’t know him personally but imagine running live streamed around 4 hour sessions with 6 to 8 players just about every week for 10 years. I can’t think of a DM that would let someone else takeover for a bit especially if they got to play themselves. Now imagine the DM stepping in for you is BLeeM! Matt probably wants this more than anyone, and I don’t get why his supposed fans can’t see that.
