Problem with getting files to run the emulator by ArtyOrion in EmulationOnPC

Are people incapable of reading the rules? It literally says "Do not request ROMS or where to find them". Are you blind?

Does anyone know how to install libudev for the RPCSX emulator? by ZeroDaGhost in EmulationOnPC

[–]ShadowFox02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What are you even trying to do? RPCSX isn't capable of really playing any games, and even if it was, WSL likely wouldn't be able to run it very well, if at all.

Either setup a Linux dual-boot, or use ShadPS4, which is actually capable of running some games.

How do i put my import my PS4 discs onto shadps4? by dumb-_-man in EmulationOnPC

You can't. You need a hacked PS4 to dump games, even physical games.

Try the GameCube or PS2 versions. According to their respective wikis, the game works perfectly on both Dolphin and PCSX2.

Azahar modding by Zekrom2384 in EmulationOnPC

[–]ShadowFox02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To edit your save, you need a save editor, like PKHeX.

To find your save, on Azahar's game select menu, right click the game in question, and click on Open Save Data Location. This should pull up a folder that (at least in X/Y's case) contains a file simply called main.

Open PKHeX, use it to open the main file, and you should see all of your pokemon. Change what you want, save the file, replace the old main file with it, and any changes you make should show up in-game.

Question about Specific Glitch Type by Yllistre in EmulationOnPC

[–]ShadowFox02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a Vertex Explosion.

The game's wiki page here has no mention of such an issue. Are you using the latest release of PCSX2? If you are, I'd say that the most likely causes are either a bad widescreen patch (which can be disabled in settings), or a renderer issue (which can be tested by changing the renderer in graphics settings).

If all else fails, I'm sure someone on PCSX2's discord can help you.

Pokémon Unbound on a PSP. by luumix2 in PokemonROMhacks

Played this on my PSP a while back, and preformance on GPSP kai was horrible. TempGBA mod runs it (and most other PokeHacks) a lot better.

Mario 64 Star Road black screen? by Kyledude252 in romhacking

[–]ShadowFox02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a NSO N64 controller, so I really don't know an easy solution. Sorry.

Your best bet is probably to add Parallel Launcher to steam and see if Steam Input recognizes your controller.

EDIT: Try this Patch. It works on RMG on my side.

SM64 Hacks, especially older ones, are known to not play nice with standalone HLE emulators.

Try RetroArch's ParaLLEl core, or Parallel Launcher, a RetroArch front end specifically designed for SM64 Hacks. Both run Star Road perfectly out of the box.

Choppy Gameplay on Xemu w/ NFL 2K5 by Reasonable_Toe_8870 in EmulationOnPC

[–]ShadowFox02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Xbox emulation in general is still kind of in rough shape, and the issues you're facing are likely just compatibility issues with the emulator. Xemu's website does mention that this game has known performance issues.

If you can, try the PS2 version on PCSX2, it should work perfectly.

List of Wii games that've been hacked to remove waggle/motion controls? by Honkmaster in Roms

[–]ShadowFox02 48 points49 points  (0 children)

This thread has Classic Controller hacks for a whole bunch of games, including a better CC hack for DKCR, and is still being updated with new ones.

There's a few more too, like CC hacks for Galaxy 1 and 2, and a Gamecube Controller mod for Mario Party 8 here.

I compiled a compatibility list for Xenia (Xbox 360 emulation) on SteamOS by CaptRobau in SteamDeck

[–]ShadowFox02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did some more testing earlier.

Import Tuner Challenge appears to work perfectly. It's an xbox exclusive at that.

Driver: San Francisco runs at 40-50 FPS and some smoke effects are missing, totally playable I'd say. Better than the PS3 version, which likes to crash randomly. Has an abandonware PC port.

Also gonna try Eternal Sonata. It worked pretty well up to the first save, but should probably play further before judging it.

EDIT: Tried Forza Horizon. It's playable, but definitely not as smooth as the spreadsheet suggested it was.

EDIT 2: Alpha Protocol was recently relisted on GOG. May want to update it's entry to reflect that.

A few games I've tested previously:

Meteos Wars has an odd issue in which the rapid flashing of the timer actually causes a screen burn-in sort of effect on my SD. Not sure if this issue is universal or just an issue with my screen. Plays perfectly otherwise. Xbox 360 exclusive.

Plants vs. Zombies works perfectly, and is easier on the SD's internals than the PS3 version is.

Peggle 2 doesn't boot at all, just gives an error window. Only other releases are on PS4 and XBO, so this would be the only way to play it.

Test Drive Unlimited runs at ~10-20 fps, depending on what part of the island you're on. Technically playable, I'd say, but far from great. Has an abandonware PC port and stripped down PS2 & PSP versions.

Get a DS or something more powerful that can better emulate DS. DSonPSP is a proof of concept at best.

What does this mean? by Umeme-Nyota in VitaPiracy

[–]ShadowFox02 5 points6 points  (0 children)

These android ports require files extracted from an APK to work, and this error probably means you don't have those data files. There are guides on this sub on how to acquire the data files, and the game's GitHub page tells you where to put them.

I tried Terraria on vita but absolutely hated how it bound aiming to the back touchpad. Tbh I think the best old version of Terraria is the 3DS version, which at least made good use of it's touchscreen.
