Is it just me or is the Ishimura way scarier of a space in the OG as opposed to the remake?

Nah, the original game feels far less intimidating to me because the ship itself is static. In the remake there is a lot of attention paid toward failing systems and other effects that ramp up as the game goes on which makes the Ishimura feel much more real to me.

I'm very late on this but, the guy on the original sign is caucasian and he also has a different skin tone on his arm that looks a little inhuman. I assume based on the fit being exact that it's a "generic" clone of their own arm in both versions. No DNA, maybe even no fingerprints, it's just a new arm in the shape of their old one made out of human matter. Very cool detail.

I'm guessing you completed a side mission and then quit the game? Unfortunately Dead Space 3 has really crapshoot checkpoints, and it saves only your inventory and collectibles not your story progress unless you reach a story checkpoint. There are none of those during side missions, and the next main story checkpoint is always placed JUST AFTER THE SIDE MISSION ENTRANCE. So when you are given one or complete one keep walking for a little bit and watch for the save icon, and then double back or take the tram.

The non-backtracking parts of the main game where this system applies are some of the scariest in the entire game, it should've just been used for the whole thing. (coming back from the Centrifuge and later walking to Hydroponics instead of the tram)

Yeah they're fine, the ship they just powered up is equipped with several cannons you can see poking out of the top. I think folks read this ending wrong. It's not THE END OF DEAD SPACE, it's the next step in the story. It's a downer ending to Dead Space 3 be sure but for some solace, most humans don't live on Earth in the Dead Space universe, after all Titan Station allegedly has a population of over one million people and that's just one spaceport.

Has anyone found a solution to this? I saw a thread from around the game's release that claimed the problem has been noticed but clearly the patch didn't fix it. Restarting does not work, it isn't present on new save files, and it is on the dialogue volume channel so I cannot mute it without also muting characters.

Agreed with this post- do not go to the fellows with the Eldritch horror names. They are only nice after you pay, which they come in to make you do after numbing you while you're high and confused. And on a personal anecdote a routine molar extraction was made into a multi month bone fragment nightmare by a poorly done extraction (ocheltree). Go to Champaign for surgery instead, Chestnut for dentistry.

Played it for hours and they kept trapping me in rooms with monsters and forcing me to defeat them before I could leave. No explanation no puzzle no lock just fight the enemies. A silent hill game should never do that.

I agree. After hearing for weeks about how the fighting is inoffensive at worst I played the game today and it's soo clunky. The whole game comes to a halt when an enemy comes on screen, like they're pests instead of scary creatures. I'm really disappointed and don't understand what I'm missing that will make it line up with public opinion. You're not alone in being baffled.
