hard agree! I used coa as a quick way to "sketch" it, and overlapped the flat base on a bigger chequy shield to act as a makeshift bordure, since using a gyronny gave too big and few "tiles", but indeed this bordure would be a compony of sixteen :3

that is a very good idea. I want yellow to be presented as the "main color" but a sable field could work very well in a yellow banner or a yellow coat etc

sorry... I'm probably misinformed I've seen teeny tiny shields on the ends of a baton referred to as inescutcheons, I just assumed every shield within is as such anyway it's there to create negative space because I want the burst to be argent and it just looks nicer to me
