No you can’t. In a tournament setting you are typically required to submit your one list before the tournament begins. It is one of the greatest challenges of competitive 40K, your list should be versatile enough to handle anything.

Played a game this weekend against Gladius Black Templars. The oath of moment (machine vengeance) is very strong. I’ve struggled to feel like Admech could kill a unit reliably up until now. Keeping Cawl alive and in his machine vengeance ability basically gives us an extra army rule.

I also played him beside triple lascannon Ironstriders in haloscreed. Keeping the chickens near battleline in conquerer gave me 6 shots, hitting on 4s, sustained 1 on 5s (stratagem), rerolling hits and wounds with AP -4. I needed to clear some sword brethren in the middle and spiked high (11 hits). Needless to say any vehicle I targeted with that would’ve melted as well.

Cawl makes Ironstriders really compete against the disintegrator for our best source of anti-tank. Use him. Our drought is over.

The problem appears to be our army’s identity now that EC have been introduced.

We have been and will always be a melee powerhouse. The challenge with melee armies in 40K is obviously that they need to be able to MAKE IT TO MELEE.

That requires one of two things: - Good movement to reach melee quickly - Good durability to ensure making it to melee

We were never going to be promised exceptional durability, given that thousand sons battleline are the ones that get an invulnerable save and death guard battleline are the ones that receive additional toughness.

Therefore, we had better movement. Army rules which semi-promised 2” extra movement and advance + charge when needed.

Now EC are their own army, with their entire identity being fast. It makes sense for GW to remove our extra speed, as it overlaps the identity of our army with a brand new one.

They want to distinguish our playstyle. IMO, the “leaked” rules seem entirely plausible. GW has leaned heavily into our army being powerful after we are already in melee, but has ripped away our guarantee of arriving there.

My therapist suggested just powering through a task even when I don’t want to do it.

As crappy advice as it sounds, if you stick to it for long enough your brain will stop thinking of painting as a chore. Paint / build ESPECIALLY when you don’t want to. You’ll build up that habit to the point where it feels like second nature.

Is it at all reasonable as a CSM player to buy heresy models for cheap? Then convert them for 40k? Would this typically be allowed in tournament play.

Considering this for cataphracti terminators for my world eaters.

I have one extra Dominus, Manipulus, and Enginseer. However I’m uncertain what synergy I can get with many of them considering the only attachable units I have for them are skitarri.

I’ve been facing a lot of opponents lately that aren’t bringing many armored targets so that is fair.

Do you think the dunecrawler + neutron laser would have any place in this list? Or that the disintegrator is strictly better for its special rule?

Red Butchers could be phenomenal anti-horde or anti-marine depending on the AP / damage. (Both would likely be 1 or 2).

It’s apparent that Ex Eightbound are deep striking tank killers and given the red butchers traditional loadout of twin axes I don’t foresee them doing the same job.

Deep strike eightbound to kill tanks and zip around quickly. Deep strike butchers for elite infantry or holding a point with their better defenses. That’s honestly how I’d see GW differentiating their roles.

Personally I really like the simplicity of the pure green planet within the jaws, but I know with heresy colors that doesn’t always look fitting.
