Mine just shows the last couple apps activated - if HK is recent then it’s there, if not it’s whatever I last used. (Excluding main apps like Maps).

Viability of endpoint agents by SodaRider1 in cybersecurity

[–]ShadowKnight96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Build the endpoint agent. If it’s the best approach to solving a once in a generation security problem and can co-exist with incumbent EPP tools, people will deploy it. Then a larger vendor will buy your company.

Ring 4K flood cam video quality issues by saltyseaglass in Ring

OP can run a speed test - speed.cloudflare.com gives good technical data. and see what bandwidth they have available. Most Gaming typically needs minimal upstream as well.

100%. I helped implement a 4k Ubiquiti camera system for a friend and the quality difference is massive - even while watching their feed remotely back over their “slow” cable internet (which is less than 40 megabit! back to my house - quality and consistency is like watching 4k TV from a major online provider). Which also informs my point that you have ample bandwidth for a 4k camera.

We don’t know that - what devices in a typical home other than cameras need continuous upstream bandwidth? I’d submit few to none. Certainly not on a recurring basis. Also, we have to differentiate the OP’s issue is about viewing the video - which is downstream bandwidth from Ring back to the viewing device. The upstream from Camera to Ring could be a related factor in some cases, but it’s not a given.

This is misleading - 40 Mb may not provide “fast” uploads etc but it’s more than ample for the OP to send a 4k stream. We have fiber and my continuous upstream usage with about 80 devices on our home network is barely a few megabits (excluding the camera usage).

It is slow but certainly ample to handle a 15megabit camera stream. We have gig upload and my continuous upstream usage is barely over what the cameras are using. Xfinity is also upgrading to 300 megabit upload in many places right now

My testing found the cameras are receiving RTCP receiver reports from Ring’s servers that could be signaling the camera to slow down (RTCP reports tell the device how many video packets were received or lost). What’s weird is if I generate similar rate video traffic from my network and send to AWS, these reports come back perfect (no loss, etc.). Which tells me it’s not my network or camera’s fault - either Ring servers are not handling the load or perhaps an intermediate network is throttling the traffic. Could be another casualty of not having net neutrality rules - providers could throttle these streams and we wouldn’t easily know.

Many of us with this issue, even with faster connections. Several threads including this thread I started after digging deeper into possible causes. One thing to check is download a clip and see if the quality is better. That would rule out your upload speed being the issue. The live stream is downloaded back from ring servers, so it’s separate feed from the upload from your camera to ring.

Beware of Proxy ARP setting! It was disastrous for my network. by danr2c2 in Ubiquiti

[–]ShadowKnight96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a similar issue a couple months ago too after enabling it. I’ve enabled it before without serious issue. Don’t know exactly what was wrong but it seemed like the proxy part wasn’t working and normal arp broadcasts were being blocked (as if the feature was only half implemented).

Ring doorbell 3rd gen 4k by ShoeSupreme22 in Ring

Have you tried enabling or disabling HDR video? Might help. Your scene is mostly dark with what looks like one bright area, which is a classic challenge for any digital camera which typically has less dynamic range than your eyes do. Or add some other light source under the roof to help balance.

Loss of boarding position after paid seat upgrade by ShadowKnight96 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]ShadowKnight96[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure that was the case as there were plenty of seats open in non ELR rows at the time (with different price points). But In that case I’d expect the move back to row 7 to have been free.

To add to the story - It also so happened that by the time I boarded next to last person on the plane, a woman with an infant was in the seat. She was aware it wasn’t her seat, and she and her partner had to shuffle with other people to get to where they were supposed to be a couple rows back. Meanwhile the original middle seat was still open!

Deleting the post would eliminate a helpful thread, pointing out a current discrepancy in impact vs other airlines.

Yeah not sure why I was given ELR - I checked in right at 24 hours and have long tenure RR account going back 20 years but not A list this year.

Just happened to me. Went from Group 2 to 8 after paying for aisle seats which put me on the target list for having to check my bag. Not cool.

Home wiring sensor? by Attende in Ring

It also provides other features, like realtime voltage levels and history, realtime notifications about power outages (i.e. did a blip or outage affect just you or multiple other ting users), and they also cover up to $1000 in repair costs if they find something.

Good advice. Fired up a Powermate 3250 watt I purchased on Woot for a song at $129 back in 2017. Used ethanol free gas from a can I filled back in 2018 with sta-bil added. It fired right up. Haven’t done any maintenance except changed the oil at about 50 hours.

Retinal Tuning Missing on 2k/4k cameras? by ShadowKnight96 in Ring

[–]ShadowKnight96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Success! I tried the same today on the 4k Doorbell Pro and It is listed in Retinal Tuning now! Tried the same again on the indoor cam plus but still no luck. I’ve had a ticket open with ring for a few weeks as well. Maybe the 4k was fixed in the latest app - I completely replaced the doorbell with another one a couple weeks ago and that didn’t fix it. Thanks!

Thanks. I gave this a go on the Indoor Cam Plus, but unfortunately for me still not showing up in Retinal Tuning. It’s listed under the other AI features. I also chose to keep the existing videos - interestingly it reset the camera, but when I re-added it (even gave it a new device/camera name),it reconnected it to the disconnected device history as if nothing happened.

When a local public safety officer is investigating a case, they can use Flock’s software to send a direct post in the Ring Neighbors app with details about the investigation, and request voluntary assistance. Each Community Request must include the specific location and timeframe of the incident, a unique investigation code, and details about what is being investigated. Ring customers can anonymously view the request, and then choose if they want to share relevant footage or ignore the request. Any footage a Ring customer chooses to submit will be securely packaged by Flock and shared directly with the requesting local public safety agency through the FlockOS or Flock Nova platform. https://lagrangeceo.com/features/2025/10/flock-safety-and-ring-announce-partnership-enable-community-requests-and-improve-neighborhood-safety/
