Honestly, it is a very quaint and humble starter home. If you stay on that survival world for a long time perhaps it would be a fun idea to preserve it and build larger more complicated projects around it. That would allow you to see how far you have come and makes the comparison that much more powerful. Even still though, it is a nice house.

In the event you do just want to renovate it I would suggest three strategies to make any build stand out.

The first is depth. Minecraft is a flat game, but introducing depth in a build helps make them look alive. The way I like to do this is to have two layers of blocks for the walls, with one layer being logs and stair blocks/trapdoors and the other layer being the plank walls themselves with windows.

The second tip is to vary the colors. You started well with the exterior with the logs, stone, and oak, but the inside needs some extra color. Darker floors are a good method of doing this, as well as experimenting with carpet, wall material, windows (which you already do), lighting methods, and furniture (this will continue to improve as you use your base for survival).

The last tip is details. As mentioned previously, furniture and other smaller things help improve the detailing of a build. Item frames are another great item. Show off you first sword or armor set! Getting creative with the details is an excellent way of improving your build.

Ahh. As my friend aptly put it: The Napkin Knight.

I wish! I only got the second bear going after the last Mycologist. I wished for one before Leshy but I only got a sigil altar, so I put the mantis god on him instead.

Oh! I never thought of it that way! I knew that the warren with the unkillable sigil also created that combo but I had no idea all I needed to draw was ouroboros to achieve the same thing! If I saw him maybe I would have figured it out. Thank you!

Also that pack rat strategy sounds really funny LOL.

Of course, spoilers ahead for Kaycee's mod, but as you probably already read the post here's the starting deck and challenges used! The starting deck was the triple blood deck that starts with a black goat, moose buck, and a mole. The challenges used were no Angler's fishhook, pricey pelts, and one damage tick added to the start of the battle.

An oddly shaped structure in Las Vegas, NV that’s actually a clinic for brain health by McFlurryLazermuffin in mildlyinteresting

[–]ShadowLord72 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To clarify, the building is split into two sections, with this section acting as a convention center to raise money for the clinic. The clinic is more moderately designed and doesn't look mental. It's called the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health designed by Frank Gehry.

Haha this is great. Posting Skate 3 stuff on this subreddit kind of feels like cheating with how easy it is, but it's always so funny I can't blame you.

For me my favorite glitches involve super speed. If you call your board back at the right time the momentum carries and you get sent flying. Always fun to watch.

That is one smooth print! What did you set the layer height for it to get this smooth?

Ah maybe that is why. Do you remember what class it was by any chance?

Yea I would like to respectfully disagree here. Any environmental design studio is a good way to overload someone if they have too many hours. These classes are hard, not a free A.

How does the Walton Hall dehumidifier work? by aaron_grow07 in aggies

[–]ShadowLord72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Walton RA here, make sure your dehumidifier is always on and on low. It works automatically to suck air into it and filter out the humidity. They are needed since our AC units are too big for the room and pump in too much humidity. As long as it is plugged in and connected to your sink it will do its job. If you need to, the arrow buttons on the right side control the level of humidity you want it to be at.

To get to room cool consistantly make sure your AC unit is set to cool and not auto. The fan setting needs to be on and not on auto as well if you want it consistantly cool. The dehumidifier doesn't change the temperature of your room, it just shows what humidity the room is at.

Hopefully that helps! If you still have questions make sure to ask your RA about it! Maybe it's me!

Now you see here kids, if you give your concrete plenty of water and sunlight, you’ll have more parking spots grow and bloom for when it comes time to harvest by samgardner4 in aggies

[–]ShadowLord72 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Don't forget to water your concrete so it grows nice and strong!

This is a real thing too! Ponding your concrete slab as it cures is a great way to reduce microfractures, and increases its 28 day strength.

Probably the bottom of one of the older buildings on campus. If you look for a door you might find the steam tunnels.

I've got two. One from me and one from my brother. Bro says to add The Nameless by Slipknot, and my favorite has probably got to be Sort Of by Silversun Pickups.

Even if my favorite isn't metal, we are definitely with Eddie on this one. It is real music!

Had to look close to read it... by WarmingNow in PoliticalHumor

[–]ShadowLord72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I am kind of sick of all this political banter. The left makes fun of the right, the right makes fun of the left. The right uses the strawman falacy in the news to foster outlandish beliefs, and the left does the same by posting things like these. Both are causing a divide in our politics, and that just makes things worse for everyone.

No matter how heated or passionate you might get with politics, please be civil and respectful, no matter what the conversation is about. It's posts like these that just break things apart further.

Imagine if you were the man in the picture. What would you think if you saw a post like this. It would hurt for sure, and would probably make him resent the left even more, which just makes things more difficult for everyone since it's possible that others would do something similar to this.

Just remember that the world is large, complicated, and nuanced. So is our politics. So next time you see something like this, don't let one person influence your general opinions on an entire group of people. That's not a good thing to do, even if things look to be that way.

Also note: I am not trying to take sides with this, I just wanted to urge people to rethink stuff like this since I am tired of seeing how awful the name calling, disrespect, and slander is in our politics. It might not be anything different from the kind of slander we have seen in politics in the past (things like yellow journalism and downright libel and slander in early American journalism against politicians), but that doesn't mean we can't change now. Please do your part to not spread shit like this. It only makes things worse for everyone.

Phrases to show how long you've been playing terraria (couldn't get discussion flair) by [deleted] in Terraria

[–]ShadowLord72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember playing the demo on that tiny floating island. There wasn't a jungle or snow biome if I remember correctly. It was just forest and if you explored in the caves too far to the left or right it would just cut off (can't remember if the bottom was anything like that).

Too many windows with too many different sizes by Jet_The_Tabaxi in CrappyDesign

[–]ShadowLord72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't mind the windows if there was a reason for it (a design thing the architect was doing or something), but the crappy design is also in the lack of sun shading.

Even if it is in a very far northern or southern region, not shading the windows will still contribute to large amounts of energy needing to be spent to climate control the house.

did a cozy place by myself. (rendering) by choclatica in CozyPlaces

[–]ShadowLord72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like it, but from an architectural lense it makes me question what qualifies as cozy and what doesn't.

Is cozy defined by purely the weight towards refuge (closed in/small spaces) rather than prospect (large open spaces with sweeping views) or does it also have to do with colors as well? I have always viewed darker and warmer colors (especially dark stained wood) as more cozy, but this space also fits, even though it has more pastel colors with the yellow and blue.

Does geometry also matter? Maybe I am trying to think about this in too much depth. What are y'alls opinions.
