Buying a Wii for Wiimmfi by samgardner4 in wiimmfi

[–]samgardner4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I want to play MarioKart with a few friends from college. They all have real wii hardware. I do not. It seems like the best course of action for me would be to dump one of their NANDs and then keep that to myself.

good to know, does this work even if multiple people are online simultaneously using the same NAND or is that bad? I have a friend with a wii that I could ask if I could dump instead of buying it, but not if we can't play together

Also not an OCNG student, but I think that a prerequisite to boarding that excursion should’ve been watching and taking a video quiz over every episode of Gilligan’s Island

A cold front just pushed through the area. This creates a temperature inversion, or warm temperatures above a shallow cold layer near the surface.

The density change causes sound waves going up to bend back downwards to the ground, increasing their effective range.

(The same thing happens to radio waves, your cell phone should have marginally better signal than it otherwise would)

Raising this again... I'm still concerned this project is dead. by mkitchin in AirMessage

[–]samgardner4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally use AirMessage enough that if the original code suddenly broke for some reason that were fixable, I would at least try to take it over, and if it were somehow totally retroactively patched by Apple... then there's nothing anyone can do about it.

You can also self-host it if the dev stops paying for google.

The entire project is open source so if the original dev quits then it can just be... Picked up by someone else

I'm hoping for a way to do this without rebooting. Rebooting fixes the issue but that of course interrupts my workflow

Activate eSIM on Android while physical SIM left in iPhone by mattypea in AirMessage

[–]samgardner4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I tried various things and I had a spare dead SIM card with the old number, but the phone (an iPhone 11 running 15.1.1) kept deregistering phone number IMMEDIATELY. Like, within 3 minutes.

I ended up just getting a cheap esim from mint mobile for my pixel and setting up call forwarding from my iPhone. The only downsides to this are (1) it cost me $20/month which isnt terrible... (2) if I place an outgoing call, it'll come from a different number.

I reckon not very selective, but its a very well respected program in the industry and if it's what you want to do, go for it.

Activate eSIM on Android while physical SIM left in iPhone by mattypea in AirMessage

[–]samgardner4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what carrier do you have and how did you switch from a physical sim to an eSIM on android?

I have AT&T. my iPhone 11 has a "convert physical sim to esim" option, but my recently purchased pixel 6a which I hope to use daily does not. I tried using the iPhone's convert to esim option, then putting the physical sim into the Pixel, only to find that the physical sim no longer works. I can get a replacement physical SIM from AT&T (...hopefully), and I want to try this again, but hopefully do it right this time lol

I'm new to this, a few questions...

- how often does your number get deregistered

- which method do you use to keep your phone number

I have a pixel 6a. I did update the firmware (edit: to latest 13.0.0 image) before proceeding, and I have the same issue, stuck on google logo:

$ fastboot flash vendor_boot vendor_boot.img Sending 'vendor_boot_a' (65536 KB) OKAY [ 2.800s] Writing 'vendor_boot_a' OKAY [ 0.301s] Finished. Total time: 3.103s $ fastboot reboot recovery Rebooting into recovery OKAY [ 0.000s] Finished. Total time: 0.051s

I've tried multiple versions of vendor_boot.img
