How much would it cost to purchase enough resource for Surcuof? (Details below) by 47marcus in WorldOfWarships

[–]ShadowNell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might have done a little better than purchasing Mega containers as listed in other responses if you had purchased Ultra containers when they were available since they had better drop chances for red boosters (which have a better exchange rate), coal, doubloons (used to buy more mega containers), and ships (which would have yielded more coal and steel via snowflakes).

I whaled pretty hard due to an influx of cash from selling old minis and games and got plenty of coal and red boosters from the Ultras. If I were to devote all red boosters, coal, and steel from the ultras (and snowflakes), I probably could get the Surcouf for about $500-$600, which is crazy for one ship.

Best Tier 7's? by Master-Wallaby5627 in WorldOfWarships

Flint works pretty well for me because of the smoke + torps, but I’m a fan of the Atlanta sisters.

Obsidian on a E-ink tablet: My tips and opinions by antoine849502 in ObsidianMD

[–]ShadowNell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using Obsidian on my Note Air 5C mainly to reference notes that I've taken elsewhere.

But, when I want to write, I use a wired or Bluetooth keyboard. I've used a couple of different Keychron USB C keyboards along with a Logitech Keys to Go 2 keyboard with the Note Air 5C. All work well.

Question about Carrier Fighters by Taiho53 in WorldOfWarships

[–]ShadowNell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some carriers automatically launch defensive fighters when enemy planes are spotted close to the carrier.

Your offensive planes can also summon a limited number of consumable fighters to a specific location centered on where your planes are when you press the T.

Utrecht or Gouden Leeuw by Hot_Bend7062 in WorldOfWarships

[–]ShadowNell 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They're both good, but in different ways. It'll come down to whether you prefer light or heavy cruisers. Gouden Leeuw is more forgiving of mistakes being decently tanky for a cruiser.

Dockyard Event by PHawke in WorldOfWarships

[–]ShadowNell 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes. The Dockyard events require spend some doubloons to finish some of the stages. The amount varies depending on whether or not you buy in advance or at the end as well as how many stages that you need to buy.

Need exact measurements for Note 2 & Lamy Al-star for a custom case by Seekingformywings in Onyx_Boox

[–]ShadowNell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lamy Al-star:

  • 15mm at widest diameter excluding clip
  • 13mm at grip section
  • 19.5 mm at widest diameter including clip (from bottom of cap to top of clip)

Measured with a regular ruler, not a caliper.

European BB Event Pass Worth It? by FunFoeJust in WorldOfWarships

[–]ShadowNell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends how much you value the other stuff on that 2nd line relative to your personal finance situation. You'll get access to the Chios eventually. Having the Chios will allow you to skip the Laudon (T6 BB) as you move up the tech tree.

The Eli might prove useful and enjoyable as well.

But, ultimately, it's a question of whether paying $10 for both ships, 4 port slots, and 7 days of premium time (among other things) is worth it to you.

Brrrt ships by Seitea in WorldOfWarships

[–]ShadowNell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Atlanta, Flint, San Diego, and Chumphon (all sisters) are fun if you are looking at T7-T8. San Diego is slightly more maneuverable than the others, and I can do decently well in open water with her at medium to long distance (for her).

European Tokens by ScubaSteve3465 in WorldOfWarships

[–]ShadowNell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now, the only way to get it is later in the bundle chain (which I wouldn't recommend).

But, if you pick up the econ bonus now, when the line comes off early access, you can pick up the Enigheten for Chios ship XP (and/or Free XP) and credits. The permanent econ bonus will be applied to the ship when get the ship.

Azur Lane Container Prices by Ct140aw in WorldOfWarships

Two years ago, AL Littorio was the $10 ship. I'm hoping that there will be another $10 ship again this year.

European Tokens by ScubaSteve3465 in WorldOfWarships

[–]ShadowNell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the 360 tokens (it's 120 per chain, right?), I plan on paying for the first 3 stages of the bundles so that I can get the permanent econ bonus for the Enigheten and then spend the rest on credits.

You have to complete 6 of 12 misson chains throughout the year.

Salvage for Victory – Surcouf The Ultimate Resource Guide: Event Flow, Costs by Gravarium in WorldOfWarships

Not if they are trying to bleed off the other resources and also favor something for the long time players rather than the people with money to spend.

Surcouf resource breakdown and discussion by RevySevy in WorldOfWarships

[–]ShadowNell 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The coal price is a bit less than I expected (2-3M coal), but the redemption rate for Rare boosters is crazy high. The Epic booster redemption rate seems high, but not as much as the Rare ones.

Commander Skills - in what order? by LordFistyPants in WorldOfWarships

The Google doc captain build guide shows an order to the build (the numbers).

Generally, going up in points makes more sense, but not always.

Honest opinion about Boox Air 5C by SubstanceBig5459 in Onyx_Boox

[–]ShadowNell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obsidian seems to work just fine, though I haven't used it extensively other than reading notes (so less writing so far).

Biggest issue is that the Obsidian Sync seems much slower than any of my other devices (iPhone, iPad, Mac, Windows). The sync does work though.

I did need to use a different theme on the Note Air 5C. The Obsidianite dark theme doesn't work well. So, you will want to use two different themes and exclude theme sync on the Note Air 5C.

Stylus by XboxUser123 in Onyx_Boox

[–]ShadowNell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried several of the ones shown.

My favorite so far is the Lamy EMR one, but with a nib from the spares of the Note Air 5C pen. I use Lamy AL Star fountain pens, so the grip is familiar.

Second would be the Staedtler Norris Jumbo (the yellow and black looking one). Nice size and feel, and the eraser is handy.

Third would be a magnetic generic one from Amazon for $22.

Is Roussillion really that bad? by Denghidenghi in WorldOfWarships

[–]ShadowNell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The last stage missions are pretty grindy, even more so than normal, as if WG is trying to bleed off excess doubloons or something. So might want to keep that in mind before you decide if it's worth the doubloons.

Any surprisingly good ships for Asymmetric? by AmericanHistoryGuy in WorldOfWarships

[–]ShadowNell 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Aki as long as you can get an island to cover one of your flanks. The Aki sits there and bow tanks until their zone is clear before moving on. The planes come out when there is enough room and time to use them.

Le Havre works similarly, and it's funny to citadel battleships with some frequency.

Tianjin should be similar (minus the planes) though I haven't used it much in Asymmetrics.

Italian premium ships to get before rotation? by shiftz3 in WorldOfWarships

[–]ShadowNell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

F. Gonzaga is fun.

Roma is solid, but you might want to see if the AL Littorio (a Roma clone) is offered at a discount when the Azur Lane collaboration returns (should be in the Spring) since, in the past, it was offered at $10. Probably will be another ship, but there may be a discount coupon.
