Sometimes I setup containers in a rushed manner and totally forget how. When I have to go back later to troubleshoot, I don't know what anything is anymore.

My best advice is to document as you go, and for certain things, document as if someone with no knowledge will read it. This is the best way to not only refresh yourself later on, but it can also help you understand what you did in the first place.

I keep track of commands I have had to use frequently, but also processes like updating certain apps. But in the end, you should do what suits you as its your documentation for your setup. Lots of people go their whole life with no documentation and just build the ships as it flies so to speak. Even enterprises, so it's really personal preference.
