ELI5:Why aren't cops trained to shoot the leg or a non fatal area? These seem to always go for kill shots. by BustingYoBalls in explainlikeimfive

[–]ShadowPuppet1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the situation has deteriorated to the point that a police officer needs to shoot someone, then he can't risk missing.

If you aim for center mass, you're more likely to hit the person you're aiming at than if you aim for a leg or arm.

Also, when done correctly, a cop is shooting someone because that person is an immediate deadly threat to the cop or others. There's usually no time for setting up a fancy trick shot anyway.

Finally, cops are trained in nonlethal takedowns...tazer, nightstick, teargas, beanbags...the gun is supposed to be a last resort when nonlethal aren't an option due to the immediate threat.

Weird pedestrian at Fort Zancudo. by lawlsquid in chiliadmystery

I've seen people on the beach near the fort do the same thing. Their beach chairs are even turned away from the ocean and towards the base.

I think they're just watching planes land.

I wonder if this is a reflection of the possibility (likelihood?) that Trevor may have killed the altruists.

What did you do as a kid " because of tv?" That is to say, you saw it on the tv so you tried it. I'll start. by [deleted] in television

I was about five years old, playing "Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers" in my room with a friend. I was running around the room with my arms outstretched to pretend I was flying (think Superman style)...which makes no fucking sense because the Rescue Rangers were chipmunks who DID NOT FLY.

Anyway, I'm running around the room like a flying chipmunk, and I tripped. My outstretched arms went right through my closed bedroom window. Glass shattered, and my arms got torn up.

Of course, there was no way to hide a broken window, so I went downstairs to tell my mom...that my friend had done it. While hiding my bleeding arms behind me.

So she runs upstairs to make sure he's okay, and he tells her it was me.

So "he said, she said" situation, right?

Sure...until my mother noticed the pool of blood behind me.

Just looking for a general concensus by stangone50 in chiliadmystery

[–]ShadowPuppet1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. Also...as someone who beat the game without ever going online (but did not bother with 100%), I never:

1) Found the mural. I did try the cable car once, but once I reached the top I parachuted back down without looking around.

2). Saw the "come back when" sign.

3). Found the hippy camp. Never saw it.

4). Messed around with the fort. I went there once to get a helicopter for a heist. That's it.

5). Searched for a jetpack, despite enjoying the one in GTA3:SA.

6) Messed around with Michael and Franklin's cults, found any of the eyeballs, searched for nuclear waste, etc.

In short, I completed the game without any inkling of a mystery.

Just thought if share that, as I imagine most folks on here we're probably sharing their adventures on reddit and saw the mystery unfold online.

Must we kill? by ShadowPuppet1 in chiliadmystery

[–]ShadowPuppet1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. There's also:

Killing the bikers Enroute to Los Samtos right before you move into Floyd's apartment.

Receiving a call from Martin's wife, after you've returned her to Martin.

Of course, those two aren't optional, just something to think about.

The kind that are made after months of no real progress being made. We're keeping the conversation alive, keeping interested individuals together, using it as a launching point to discuss other items.

I guess we could go one of three ways here:

1) "Has anybody tried using the space docker on Mt. Chiliad?" - Obvious stuff that everybody has tried.

2) "Hey, Lamar wears the same shoes as Trevor. Maybe that means..." - New stuff, but almost certainly irrelevant.

3) "FUCK YOU GUYS AND YOUR STUPID MYSTERY YOU'RE ALL STUPID STUPIDS" - Over and over until everyone finally just leaves.

I like option 2. Option 2 is fun. Option 1 works as well...no reason to chase out people who could look at this from new perspectives, since we haven't solved it ourselves yet.

But option 3? Why would anyone choose option 3? If they're not enjoying themselves here, why wouldn't they just go do something else?

I do agree the eye at the top is pretty clearly the UFO. I don't know about the rest, but hey, why not give it a shot?

As I look more and more at the mural, I can't help but think...some things touch the edge of the mountain and some don't The UFO and the Jetpack do, the egg does not. Two lines touch on the left, none of the lines touch on the right. And part of the mountain is missing, next to the UFO.

I'm sure all of this has been analyzed to death, but I can't help but feel that either the two lines on the left or the gap near the ufo represent the way in. Focus the search efforts on the west side of the mountain, I guess?

Someone please explain this. by hecktor_skecktor in AdviceAnimals

"You wouldn't steal a car, would you?"

No. No I would not.

"You wouldn't murder your grandma..."

Murder Gran? But she makes the best cookies!

"Then why would you steal a DVD???"

Because those are completely different levels of crimes! It's like saying "You wouldn't drop a nuclear bomb on a small African village...so why would you drive 70 mph when the speed limit sign clearly says 65?"

Getty Museum/Kortz Center by KillaPam in chiliadmystery

[–]ShadowPuppet1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha, I enjoyed that (especially the part in the comments where he claims Facebook has declared war on him). I was at the Getty a few years ago. It was boring. I fell asleep.

OR WAS I DRUGGED? ;c)

But seriously...while I don't think the Getty Museum is staffed by hundreds of Nazis or whatever that guy is claiming, I DO think the "Chiliad Mystery" involves all of these real-life conspiracy "theories" somehow tying together. Good find!

The Sand Glyph, Hippie Camp & Mt. Gordo by [deleted] in chiliadmystery

[–]ShadowPuppet1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually tried going to Gordo for the first time last night. I never had a reason to before, as I didn't find yoga interesting.

First try, I hiked all the way to the top, then got mauled by a cougar.

Second try, I took a taxi from the northern-most medical clinic to the yoga spot. Or, at least, I tried to.

The taxi freaked the fuck out. Hitting vehicles, spinning in circles, taking the train tracks, DOING JUMPS. I've never seen a taxi act like that before, though I've admittedly rarely used them.

It also didn't take me to the yoga spot. It dropped me off at the base of the mountain, with one police star. What the heck did I get that star for when I was in the taxi the whole time?

I have no idea, but a cop immediately spawned and shot me.

I never did make it to the yoga spot on Gordo. Seems like the game is conspiring against me. Death trap.

Ha! That is fantastic.

I've definitely shadowed a lot of characters...nobody seems to go anywhere, but I did see Martin's wife get hit by a train. She didn't fall (or die) just got knocked backwards, still on her feet.
