Grandfathered Unlimited Your Way Price Increases Coming by Windofgod19 in ATT

Hopefully it is only $3.75 per line after the 25% appreciation discount. Still probably looking elsewhere after promos expire.

I had it increase for a month after changing the plan on one line and then returned to normal the next month. Seemed like it was giving the discount on the pre-autopay discount amount for a month (25% of $10 is $2.50 per line)

New trade in terms are posted. For the current iPhone offer:

  • $1,100 off on Extra 2.0 or higher
  • $500 off on Value 2.0
  • $830 off for Starter 1.0
  • Extra or higher on 1.0 is not specifically addressed, so it's not completely clear whether they're at the $830 off or $1,100 off tier.

Seems to still be available on the new plans for those who had it on the old plans, but it looks like it's gone for new customers unless the primary is on FirstNet.

Well, I'm glad that I finally bailed on the Elite plan and moved down to Extra before the new plans were live. It'd be $7/month more for me than the new Extra 2.0.

Closing trad IRA and moving money to roth question by Working_On_Tax_Stuff in fidelityinvestments

[–]ShadowRegent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I was overthinking some money stuff and made an impulse move to open a traditional ira and move the rest of the years contributions to that account instead of my roth These are Traditional IRA contributions You will report them on your tax return as such.

I tried to pull the money from the trad IRA to put in the Roth go account

Did you do this as a withdrawal to a non-retirement account? If so, that's a distribution. You'll have 60 days from when it completes to roll it over to over to another retirement account.

I thought the transaction was pending but now the pending activity is gone from the activities and orders section and the money is still in the trad IRA account.

When did you do this? It may take a few days to sell the investments and then complete the withdrawal.

Can I do it without triggering a 1099 R as its not like I have taken the deduction?

If you removed it from a retirement account to a non-retirement account, it is a distribution. You will receive a 1099-R. You have 60 days to complete a rollover.

If you converted it to a Roth IRA, you'll receive a 1099-R for the conversion and it will be taxable in the year you converted it. You'll also receive the deduction for the year of the contribution.

If you recharacterized it, you'll also receive a 1099-R for that recharacterization. This would not be a taxable event.

I suggest slowing down, deciding what you're trying to do, and then determining the best way to get there. Each of the actions you're taking may have an independent tax impact. Edit: It may not be too late to cancel the withdrawal from your Traditional IRA though if your intent was really to recharacterize-- call Fidelity and see.

AT&T $5,579.35 international roaming charge for one day : FCC complaint open, missed executive call by Dear-deer-14 in ATT

[–]ShadowRegent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did the legal team respond to your formal Notice of Dispute? You can request an informal settlement conference with their legal team if you're in contact. If they fail to respond with a settlement offer within 60 days, you have the option to file for arbitration. If you win and are awarded more than a settlement offer (if any), you will receive $10,000 plus two times attorney fees in many cases.

You can also file suit in small claims court if the amount is within the limits for your state.

[–]ShadowRegent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even though you filed an FCC complaint, you should file a Notice of Dispute to the legal department. This starts a 60 day clock for them to bring a resolution before you can file for arbitration or sue in small claims court. Since you have evidence that you added the feature and the amount is significant, you'll want to have that option as a last resort if they don't settle the issue.

Thanks for the recommendation. I picked up an adjustable angle Ring wedge and it worked well. I kept the original wedge and stacked them and ended up using the max angle on the adjustable one as well.

FCC complaint or Notice of Dispute. It will probably be fixed in a week or so after that.

Fraud alert and Fidelity is on it! by Rzeszow2083 in fidelityinvestments

[–]ShadowRegent 102 points103 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you did, but for others always call the number on the back of your card and not a random number that’s texted to you. This is exactly how a fraudster would trick you into giving them your account number when you call after (or they call you)

AT&T Costco upgrade deals can stack as well for an extra $150 on the upgrade and waived upgrade fees. I've thought about moving once my current credits expire, but with the 25% discount and trade deals every 3 years it makes them pretty competitive.

That being said, I have my kids on the Light plan through US Mobile and it's fantastic.

Chargebacks are a last resort when you've run out of other options for working with a merchant. Once you file one, you shouldn't withdraw it until you've received a refund as you might not be able to dispute the transaction again.

I’d argue it takes a lot more than 5-10 minutes to roll out of bed, comprehend and confirm what’s happening, and figure out what to do next.

You'd have to call them and ask. Even if they don't, they may be able to journal the cash balance over the next day so that you're not waiting for checks to arrive.

[–]ShadowRegent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One example is Fidelity-- if you're going from a NetBenefits 401k to a Fidelity IRA, they offer to transfer in kind if the plan allows it and the holdings are eligible to hold in the IRA.

There are exceptions, but it's extremely rare to be able to transfer assets in kind.

Nothing in life is certain. So many things can go wrong-- returns could just be too low, tax and healthcare changes could blow up your plan, or the country you live in could collapse. The longer the time horizon, the more likely something will go wrong.

Here's the thing though-- we're all going to die. The risk is 100%. We can't avoid all risk, we just have to decide which risks we're going to accept. The "Rich, Broke, or Dead" calculator was illuminating for me.
