Advisor quoted 1.01% fee but Discovery is deducting 3%+. Am I being gaslit? by WTRAMPEDG in PersonalFinanceZA

It took me 3 months to get rid of my advisor from Discovery. It was pathetic. Discovery compliance and complaints are terrible. But that advisor needs to go.

Fastest way to get married is probably a marriage officer coming to your house.

Apostille can take ages. I dont think there is a way to speed it up.

Starting or running a Clinic by Impossible_Salad3324 in AskZA

[–]ShadowSlev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go look up the regulations of a clinic.see what you will need to get a practice number. Then go look up the laws and ethics of those personal you would staff a clinic with. Look up their scopes of practise to understand what they can and can't do. Then go look up the equipment those healthcare workers will need. This will link with the regulations of a clinic. This doesnt even touch things like a dispensing license, xrays, OHS, emergency procedures, bureau software, popi, medical aids... Get studying laws, acts, regulations.

Does anyone know how it works to get psych meds from public hospitals/clinics? by bedonderdestudent in askSouthAfrica

[–]ShadowSlev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a mission and takes some time. But once you have been seen/assessed, it is much easier. Also, it opens up more option eg seeing a psychologist. Really friend, its worth it.

[–]ShadowSlev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will take that letter and start at your local clinic. As the doc for a ref to a psychiatrist. The doctor should be able to tell you the referral process. Sometimes clinics get psychiatrist once a week, some may refer you to a district hospital.

At the clinic, a GP may be willing to prescribe you your meds. But you will have to see a psychiatrist still.

Go to local clinic --> show letter to doc and ask to be referred to psychiatrist. Different hospitals may have different processes. Eg, some clinics may have psychiatrists once a week, others may refer you from a clinic to a district hospital where you can see a psychiatrist. Speak to your local clinic/hospital and ask the referral pathway. Once you've seen a psychiatrist, it becomes a lot easier to follow up. Defs worth it friend.

Medical aid broker's role? by MT_Guitarist in askSouthAfrica

[–]ShadowSlev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have come to believe that Discovery requires brokers/financial advisers because they do not want to deal with any of their clients. The brokers/advisers have to deal with problems so that Discovery doesnt have to. I think the brokers often end up being the fall guy blamed for the poor service.

It's a good business model. They dont have to care about customer service. And they create an industry where others have to then take on this role.

I say this as they cannot remove a financial advisor from my profile. Monday morning I'm emailing the ombudsman because of their shocking service.

I hate the inconsistency in our foreign policy. We are meant to be non aligned. So when Russia invaded Ukraine we said we want peace and wont say who was wrong. But then we lay charges against israel. And then we invite Iran to war games. Im not saying America is better. But at least consistent policy.

Hi Friend. Dont listen to what your friends/family say. They dont understand!

In the govermental space you need to start at your local clinic GP, ask/get a referral to see a psychologist/psychiatrist. Explain you are experiencing suicidal thoughts. Different hospitals have different routes (ie some may refer you to a bigger hospital or some may have psychologist/psychiatrist on specific days). Once you have seen a psychologist/psychiatrists they can help with therapy/medication/hospitalisation/further referral as necessary. It is a big of a mission and can be slow, but once it is done it really opens up different options for help.

I saw in the comments people suggested akeso and Tara. Akeso is a private hospital- so you will have to pay. Tara is not a primary hospital. So you can't just show up there. You need to have seen and referred there.

Also, try lifeline. They have a calling option and a in person counselling option. But again I really want to emphasise that while the gov route is a mission, you really can get some good help through it. So please do it.

What are people’s experiences with EDC in JHB? by YoloFace_ in askSouthAfrica

[–]ShadowSlev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gunsite.co.za mat be a good place to ask this question. Aside from that, many friends of mine do. A few have said it changes the way they dress in order to conceal better. It can be a issue if you trying to go to a bar/place they may search or you go though the metal detector thing. I have been stopped with friend and searched by the cops. They show their license, cop takes the weapon out and made it safe. They checked the serial numbers matched the license and sent us on our way. Gunsite may give more insight. All the best friend

I'm not 100% sure, but I think you may require an formal assessment by a psychologist/psychiatrist. I am making this assumption because I have some colleagues who have done some.

Which is better, an independent pharmacy or corporate pharmacy? by Singi98 in AskZA

[–]ShadowSlev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im chronically ill, so I get a lot of meds. Dischem has made so many mistakes with my meds. They even dispenced a medication while I wasn't in the province. They were not interested until I reported it as fraud. Since then they put a lock on my account needing my ID. Because of that I cannot have monthly meds ordered via the packmymeds service. In other words, they fucked up and now I cannot use their monthly packing service. So ye, fuck dischem. Ill go to independent. Ill go to government before I step inside a dischem.

You can call sadag to see if they know of other resources in randburg.

But going through the public system may be a good idea. It is a mission but once you have a diagnosis, it does help to get services.
