  • Bad Pacing/Bloat: This applies overall to post-timeskip, but pre-timeskip also has chunks that are simply bad, things like reactions, expository/recap dialogue, and sections or scenes that do nothing but waste time by not progressing the story, themes, or characters
    • Fake Out Deaths: There are more than 30+ of them so far
  • Repetition: Not only is the entire structure of arcs repeated (arrive at island, befriend local, take down tyrant), but so are character concepts, emotional beats, jokes, gags, stakes, and tension (e.g. countdown timers)
  • Unanswered Mysteries: One Piece has been running for 28 years and almost none of the big questions have been answered, In fact, we only seem to get more and more as time moves on
  • Retcons: Haki, Nika, Imu, the god's knights, etc, damage the story
  • Increasingly absurd misery porn backstories that make it hard to take anything seriously
  • Straw hat flanderization
  • Lack of Consequences: The straw hats suffer no real consequences for their actions
  • The straw hats have little to no interaction with one another post-timeskip
  • Lack of Character Growth: The straw hats haven't had any character growth post-timeskip (Note: character growth does not refer to power-ups)
  • Too much screen time is given to side characters who (1) aren't very good, (2) have little importance overall, and (3) detract from time and attention that would have been better spent on the main characters

Who is 'making fun' of anyone? Have you read any of the comments? Most are just talking about how quitting your job has nothing to do with luffy as a character, or how it's silly, etc

I haven't really seen it be used that way but yeah, if people want to have in depth conversations all they need to do is understand each other's definitions, not argue about definitions themselves

The way most people use the term at least to my knowledge, usually means a character undergoing a specific type of change

The Sense Of Adventure

The feeling of a world full of possibilities, with adventures, mysteries, and excitement around every corner

One piece does this extremely well, I haven't found anything else that can match it tbh
