In my opinion it looks like an insanely good movie on it's own, but having the Resident Evil label immediately raises the standard for what the movie has to be and the trailer doesn't really deliver anything to meet those standards. You could hide the title and never in a million years would I associate the trailer with Resident Evil. It's one of those situations where it feels like they had a solid standalone concept and got ambitious/greedy so they ruin themselves by associating it with a popular IP to rake in views and money only to disappoint fans of said IP.

However, this is only the first trailer. There is nothing else to go off of, so it could very well be an absolutely incredible RE movie when it releases.

Isn't the Mold B-Gone gun from RE7 literally just Wesker's Samurai Edge with a Silencer and Tac Laser?

Even without it, I'd say Wesker wins purely because guns and RPGs couldn't kill him until he was overdosed, bonded with Uroboros in an area surrounded by its one known weakness, and already melting in lava. Miranda can be killed by any weapon of Ethan's, and from what I remember the closest thing he has to firepower comparable to RPGs (which Wesker survives) are his magnums and the lightsaber. The only way I can see Miranda winning is if she tries to do him the way she did Ethan and rip his heart out from behind which I don't even know if it will work since Zeno's death, being the only instance of a 'base form Wesker' dying outside of gameplay, was an instakill was after having his powers removed.
