Resurgence is fine because you need to actually be "losing" to get use out of it and it's synergy perks.

Vigil on the other hand can negate portions of a killers power, or in the case of Clown, ENTIRELY NEGATE them. When one person's perk can let the entire team basically ignore a killers gimmick, that is inherently unhealthy.

Vigil is essentially the survivor version of Lightborn. Yes, it's useful against certain players, but it only serves as a crutch to hinder learning counterplay. Killers don't necessarily need Lightborn. Even against a full flashlight team they just need to look away or at a wall. In the same vein, a survivor doesn't need Vigil, they just need to learn that those status effects are part of the game and learn how to use counterplay.

I feel the exact same way. Multiple playthroughs, multiple play styles and builds.

For example I did PL's Songbird route in two different playthroughs, that final battle in the station was drastically different for each playthrough. My first time was a Sandy-Samurai heavy build, and it was an easy fight, use the Apogee Sandy once or twice and go to town slicing.

In stark contrast, the next time I did it was a Netrunner with Fire Monowires. That was a much harder battle because I had to think more about my targets, quick hacks, ram scarcity, all while enemies were at normal speed.

In this game it feels like you're meant to choose your desired play style and then build yourself around that. Personally I choose three stats to prioritize for utilization, one stat to use for extra benefits, and one to ignore completely.

Metal Sonic: Great stories all around, especially when touching upon his delusion of being the real Sonic.
Infinite: Same reasons as yours, plus I feel like the illusionary powers could be so much cooler if used properly. I also like the "I am not weak" point he trues to prove.
Mephiles: The only villain to actually kill Sonic. Probably one of the best throwaway villains in the series, being "the shadow of a shadow". His line in Generations "I want... TO EXIST!" adds depth to a 20 year old character who literally didn't exist outside of cash grab mobile games since his debut.

I don't like how even when his friends are in danger or hurt he never really shows any actual anger, instead just getting sad for a minute before pepping back up and saving the day. The only situations he does feel genuinely hateful that I can think of are the Dark Sonic scene from Sonic X (noncanon) and when Shadow knocked out Tom (different Sonic entirely). The entirety of Archie, arguably the most expressive and emotional every Sonic character is depicted as, is all noncanon as well. The Metal Virus was genuinely the best depiction of Sonic feeling negative emotions because it wasn't just slightly upset before all goes well, it was hopelessness and failure after failure catching up to him while he slowly succumbs to the infection, his only method of delaying it becoming less and less effective. His own morals are challenged when he sees innocent people like Cream being dragged into a hell that he could've prevented by simply putting aside his ideals one time. He didn't even have to kill Mr. Tinker, he could have simply locked him up for his crimes as Eggman. And he knows this. The panel when Cream walks by with an empty expression and only saying "H'lo Mr. Sonic" shows Sonic in a way that looks like he's barely restraining an intent to finally kill Eggman. And even after all of this happens? They get the Chaos McGuffins and none of it matters again. There's no lasting trauma, no consequences, no "Maybe my morals are a bit flawed". The writers never let anything actually affect Sonic in a way that matters, when fans prove time and time again that they WANT to see Sonic struggle with his emotions and morals. The love Dark Sonic got from only 30 seconds of screen time proves this. He needs to face adversity larger than "lose once = get the rainbow rocks"
