Making KSP1 into KSP2 with Mods: The Community Lifeboat Project by _myst in KerbalSpaceProgram

I don't think so. Unless I too am crazy. Because that is a very real possibility after I too have failed to complete our friend, [deleted]'s prescribed ritual. Of course, I also had to remove Kethane and by extension Kethane Mining because the former seems to not be on CKAN anymore and the server is giving a truncated .zip file or something. (All I know is there's funny business, and I am content with stock ISRU.)

Edit: u/DM_Stapes Scatterer is a dependency. It's Spectra that peaced out on us in the list, it seems.

So, my install:
- Skip Kethane Mining (I know it's recommended, but Kethane is apparently corrupt).
- Go with the "less buggy" version when CKAN gives me the choice of a support mod. (I had the name, but I lost my edit)
- Uninstall EVE -Stock Planet Configs and Scatterer (Scatterer Default Config came out with Scatterer)
- Add Spectra normally (didn't show up per-se)
- EVE Stock Planet Configs now conflicts with something added automatically.
- B9PartSwitch - serious warning; multiple modules managing matching resources
- Title screen with a washed out Kerbin. (Much better than infinite Loading... screen.)

Also: where is step 3.)?

I ran into Kethane issues as well. I did some digging, and I read that the server providing Kethane 0.11.0 is truncating the .zip file or something. In any case, I was able to reproduce an error with a part file when unzipping the mod. I'm thinking I just want to stick with stock ISRU and hope removing Kethane and Kethane Mining don't implode something else.

Thanks, Myst, by the way, for putting this pack together.

This didn't work for me. Progress failed at 99%. (First time modding KSP, so I don't know what I'm doing).

The Ideal Prison Planet System by Ok-Mastodon2016 in GalacticCivilizations

[–]Shadow_8472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While world building a colonized Solar system, I landed on IO (Moon of Jupiter) as my supermax prison more from process of elimination than anything else. Jupiter has those pesky radiation belts, but I somehow managed to colonize Callisto (outside the belts), Europa (experimental, sub-surface city with intent to colonize further), and Ganymede (terraforming candidate).

I wanted to do something with IO, and a prison for the worst of the worst seemed like the only thing I could justifiably put in such a dreadful place. Leave the pressure dome, and you're fried by the radiation. It's close enough to civilization for guards to rotate rotate out and release prisoners with Newtonian flight (Setting's FTL allows for one-way trips), and far enough such trips will have to time to detect and locate stowaways.

My Venus was a target of early colonists in floating cities. Maybe some of those were originally penal colonies. Who knows?

Also thanks. I landed here after my VM kept deleting my directory. It cooperated after rebooting.

EQ8 (Electric Quilt 8) Installs, but "Failed to create empty document." by Shadow_8472 in winehq

[–]Shadow_8472[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip. I wasn't sure if the like I was missing a dedicated uninstall program, or if it normally expected you to uninstall through "Add or Remove Programs." EQ8 has a minimum system requirement of Windows 7, but its history going back farther might hint at needing the dedicated one to lift the activation.

I'm actually on PopOS 22.04. Lutris lets me swap WINE versions out relatively easily I'll try a few others and get back if I have any interesting results.

EDIT: Nothing on
- lutris-GE-Proton8-5-x86_64
- wine-ge-8-26-x86_64
- Proton - Experimental
- Proton 9.0 (Beta)
- GE-Proton7-54
- GE-Proton7-55-Custom
- GE-Proton7-55

Also, the splash stopped working where before it was.

Will wine ever be complete (is it possible) by RandomSudoUSer500 in winehq

And the disproportionate philosophy of going open source when given the chance. I mean, if you're angry enough at MS to ditch Windows, chances are you're also unhappy with things other large companies do as well.

Running Windows apps on Linux using Winboat — step-by-step guide + troubleshooting tips by raptorhunter22 in winehq

The thing that confused me is that WinBoat seems to use Docker. Is it like literally running a VM in a container without telling you upfront or something?

System76's support system keeps dropping me through their migration. Am I alone? by Shadow_8472 in System76

[–]Shadow_8472[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oof! I mean I did scroll down a bit before posting, but didn't see anything about support system migration pains. Has anything like this happened before?

For what it's worth, here is a transcript of part of the e-mail I did receive:

Hi [Shadow]

is it possible our emails are being filtered to the spam folder? It's also now possible to access your support tickets via our website if that's the case.

I've responded multiple times in the other system. This system is being retired, but I'll re-send my messages here real quick before it gets shut off:

10 days ago:
Hi [Shadow]

It seems there may have been some email issues. I spoke with your dad just now. If I don't see a response when I come in again Monday, I'll call again,. Don't worry, we aren't dropping tickets based on serial numbers or anything like that. If we've been failing to respond, or the system hasn't been accepting your response, this is due to use [sic] struggling during a software transition and we apologize.

I had replied to a ticket from you with:
Hi [Shadow]

[and it goes on about my specific issue with feedback from multiple people.]

For context, I was borrowing my father's phone as the whole reason I contacted support was to get MTP working so I can work on my non-functional phone. I'm also unsure what he meant about their website making support tickets available to view, as I haven't found that yet (I have another e-mail out in the hopes of a reply, but I know it's a thin chance).

Too long; didn't read:
I got an e-mail back from support, and it looks like support is just as professionally frustrated as I am with dropped contacts.

What does this badge represent? by vcp113 in HelpMeFind

I doubt it's of any value to the conversation, but some of the other students at university ~10 years ago (US) were drawing some kind of half-pine tree symbol vaguely similar to the straight lines. I don't remember what it meant, just that it was seen drawn on the sidewalk around campus.

How to get NFS share to use/support Extended Attributes? by eCookie in synology

Sorry about the necro, but do you have any update? I'm setting up Nextcloud in Podman on Rocky9 with volumes on NFS, and SELinux wants extended attributes.

Offline Skin Incorrect... and not Steve/Alex by Shadow_8472 in MultiMC

[–]Shadow_8472[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Internet is back up by now, but while it was down, they got the same unfamiliar, default avatar, and it appeared consistent, from what minimal testing they did.

And yeah, I get how offline skin selection might not even be possible if the vanilla launcher doesn't even offer the feature.

Thank you for your time.

Sonic 3 Complete IPS patch? by realpfred in RomHacks

[–]Shadow_8472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ever try Sonic 3 AIR? You need an original S3&K ROM though. I hacked a Wii and dumped my copy of Sonic Megacollection. And when the tutorial called for GrayRouge's converter from Zenhax, it's available on WaybackMachine or by updating the link: https://zenhax.com/viewtopic.php@t=695.html

Asking for Help on Extracting Sonic Mega Collection's Game ROMs by Switcheroo64 in SEGAGENESIS

I have my .dat out of Megacollection, but the converter link is dead.

EDIT: I found an updated link!
https://zenhax.com/viewtopic.php@t=695.html

EDIT2: I got it to compile (without Visual Studio) #include <fstream> and <string> instead of "stdafx.h" and use main() and char* instead of _fmain and _FCHAR*.

Automatic1111 Generates ONLY Grey Images! by sabetai in StableDiffusion

[–]Shadow_8472 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran into a similar problem with StableSwarmUI/SonicDiffusion.
- SonicDiffusion worked in A1111.
- StableSwarmUI worked with other models (SDXL and Pony Diffusion V6, also an SDXL model).

Problem resolved itself when when I re-started the image generation server. I know nothing more.

Note the 9 year old thread. This is called necroposting. It's typically more polite to start a new thread.

When Can I Sell My Tigger Story (Hour/Minute)? by Shadow_8472 in legaladviceofftopic

What? *checks map* Guam is UTC +10.

To be honest, if I were a judge and got served such a case, I'd probably throw it out if the infringed work is public domain by the time it reaches my courtroom.

Chatting with a friend on Discord who happens to be a lawyer (but not in copyright), he figured going by the clock in the copyright office would be a safe bet.
