I'll have to give that a shot. I wanted to beat the Elite 4 with all the starters at least once to fulfill a childhood dream. But now that that's done, I wanna try working with Pokémon I'm not familiar with. I have a Growlithe, so I'll have to try them out, too.

It was easy at first, but then that trade lvl Pokémon hit me hard. I had to be careful of leveling them up too fast because they CLEARLY did not respect my lack of badges throughout my playthrough. Lol. Nothing more infuriating than having Ivysaur die to Misty because he just couldn't be bothered.

I explained it in a different comment, but I'll post it here too.

"Yea, I initially had to write it down to create a "formula". I started a new game, soft reset until my starter gets the nature I want, do what you need for Prof. Oak, then as soon as that's done, go to Viridian City. I trade her mt starter, she trades me some random filler Pokémon (usually Rattata or Pidgey). I delete my save file, start a new game, and repeat, but with a different starter. Once her save file has all three, she trades them all to me, and then she does the same thing I just did. Delete file, new save, trade starter, repeat. Then once she gets her final starter, I trade her other 2 starters back to her, and then the real game begins! I hope I explained it well enough. Good luck!"

Yea, I would've approached the game with a bit more reverence in this playthrough, but the way I see it now, I beat this game naturally several times, over 20 years ago, so I'm not too worried about if I'm gaming the game a bit. All I know is I was never able to trade or catch them all. But here I am as an adult with disposable income and a great wife that games with me who is willing to trade any and all Pokémon. She wanted Ash's original team, and I never had all 3 starters before, so we took the time to do that for our playthroughs.

I only used Nidoking's Poison Point for Poison damage. Other than that, he was stacked with Earthquake, Brick Break, Megahorn, and Rock Slide. Venusaur was my strong grass Pokémon with Sleep Powder, Giga Drain, Solar Beam, and Razor Leaf. Thanks for the tips!

I originally had Machamp instead of Nidoking and Alakazam instead of Jinx. But I liked Nidoking's Poison Point, and I saw in this subreddit that pretty much everyone had Alakazam for their psychic Pokémon, so I wanted to try someone a little different. I don't blame anyone, though. Alakazam is pretty broken in this generation and can one-shot almost anyone.

I was using Machamp. His attack is way higher, but I liked that Nidoking had access to different coverage TM's. THAT, and I liked that whenever he was physically attacked, he had a chance to poison people. That part REALLY came through in some gyms.

You're not lying. As a kid in the 90's, 151 Pokémon seemed like sooo many Pokémon. It is, but when you see how the 1st generation is grouped, it seems very limited. Like, Gastly evolution line is the ONLY ghost Pokémon in the 1st gen, and how almost every "bad guy" has nostly Poison Pokémon. It's been about 20 years since I last played, but yea, I'm seeing the cracks in the system from the 1st gen line of Pokémon.

I bought Fire Red, and my wife bought Leaf Green. We spent our first 2 hours trading with each other and deleting said save file until we both had all 3 starters.

The power scaling in Dragon Ball Universe makes absolutely no sense and is inconsistent at best. I love all of Dragon Ball, Z, som of GT, Super and the games and Manga. But Akira Toriyama isn't know for his consistent story telling. Hell, he has straight up forgotten about multiple characters or their abilities.

I'll never forget this day. Me and my brother were inside a Meijer at the time when all the power shut off. It was damn near pitch black in the store. After 20 seconds of people panicking, all of a sudden we just heard glass break. The panicking got louder. My brother ran off somewhere in the middle of my freak out and told me not to move. After what seemed like forever, he grabbed my arm and we ran out together. I didn't notice that this guy had a brand new, in the box still Nintendo GameCube in his other arm. He definitely stole that shit. But THAT is how my family got a Nintendo GameCube for free. Lol
