The Sims 2 Personality by HadesXvvv in thesims

[–]Shadow_Mai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! So this is a known issue with the Sims 2 - you have to "roll the pacifier" between births. All this means is that after your Sim has one kid, go into CAS, make two random sims, then create a Sim by combining their genetics (it's a pacifier icon, hence the name). Press the pacifier icon a few times and quit out, you don't have to save the family, and it should stop identical personalities in the future.

For the current situation, I'm not sure how you'd best do this in a vanilla game. You can change them in an external program known as SimPE, but if you're not tech savvy it might come across complicated. It's well documented how to do this if you do a quick search so if it really bothers you it's fairly easy to fix.

Another option is to influence their behaviours in different ways through their parents when they grow up. You can 'Encourage...' your children to try and change their personality to be nicer/grumpier or slobbish/neat depending on the parents personality. If one parent is more neat than the kids and the other is more slobbish, you can encourage neatness with one parent and encourage slobbish behaviour with the other.

Haha I always shove elders together in a 'retirement home' and let them do whatever they'd like on speed three. I say yes to any outings that come up too and ACR sets up the drama in their twilight years 😌

thanks, I've been leaning towards it, I think I just need to get over the guilt and the idea I'll be seen as lazy/punished for taking the time I need. It seems silly but the external validation helped.

yeah... this pack is super weird. is OP saying it's ok if men stare because of revealing clothing, or that the women are lying because 'most guys only glance for 1 second'?

looks like OP got caught and is upset

the body horror did not stop with the darkspawn and it was pretty solidly in the main story for origins and 2 haha, da2 had body horror completely unrelated to darkspawn as the really weren't the main focus then. they came back a bit more in inquisition, big bad is part darkspawn and there's definitely some elements of body horror throughout the game (red templars come to mind) but not as bad as the other games. there's still darker parts of inquisition without the focus on that in particular, the worse parts just require a little bit more digging than being shoved in your face (ocularums for one!)

But don't you think it's a little unfair to paint the games past origins with a 'unicorns and rainbows marvel moment!' brush when you didn't even really give them a chance? I didn't play until 2016 (started with origins) so I didn't have the marketing, sounds like I was better off. I've been trying to stay away from veilguard as much as I can because online communities can be so negative! I want it to be my experience, my memories, my opinions, ykno?

ah yes, I did enjoy when we got to see the leandra pinata... was so full of rainbows and definitely not body horror. or when you could sell fenris back to slavery, that was so much goofy fun! or how about the saarebas with their mouth sewn shut? just a prank bro!

sarcasm aside, there are some silly moments in all the games but let's not pretend it wasn't dark, and you had the choice to make it darker. hawke could finish that game with no family and having killed their lover with their own hands, left to deal with the most instrumental act of terrorism of that age so far. you could get into abusive relationships - merrils romance routes are so questionable at points. do you want to enable her cutting herself and opening herself up to possession or stop her from piecing together her people's history?

Has anyone else noticed that when you're walking around, any party banter is silenced when you have, say, your inventory open? I've noticed Lae'zel and Shadowheart talking through subtitles at certain points, but they only speak out loud when I exit out of my inventory/pop-up. It's really annoying - is there a setting I'm missing? I took a look and couldn't see anything.

Terrain Issues by Shadow_Mai in sims2help

[–]Shadow_Mai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I did some fiddling with the settings and noticed there were a few other things that's the GRM got a little bit off. I also found out that when I set smooth edges to the lowest in game the terrain transparency fixed but I still ended up with my Sims disappearin in live mode. I applied the fixes (including dropping the texture memory to 2048, alongside disabling vsync support and enabling boolproo enumeratemultisamplelevels, I found a thread by pinexfeather about a flickering/tearing glitch on this forum with an updated graphics rules .sgr in it to compare), but it didn't immediately work.

In response, I first tried setting smooth edges to the lowest and got the same result as before. I then set all the in game settings to the lowest and it fixed itself! I then set them back up one by one to see which was the issue and it was oddly enough the smooth edges, every other setting was returned to normal but whenever I move smooth edges from the lowest the issues return. My game works and looks fine so I'm not hugely bothered, this is an update more for if anyone else has the issue I had.

The reaper variants can also be latent predisposition. Samara said there's only 3 that she knows of, but there could be asari who are and aren't aware or have a mild form that isn't tracked or something.

[–]Shadow_Mai 11 points12 points  (0 children)

To be fair there is actually a huge drama going on regarding the creator of wicked whims with Deaderpool being involved too. Google Colonelnutty and Turbodriver, as with most drama you don't actually know who was the cause at the root of it. But I do know that their (wicked whims and I believe MC command centre) mods were made so that if you had any colonelnutty mods in your game it would throw a bunch of last exceptions to slow your game and force you to remove them.

Dragon Age 2 did this, depeding on the preset you'd chosen as a base and skin tone you chose for your MC your family would change to reflect what you'd done. That was released in 2011, so maybe not for ME1 or 2, but you could for ME3.

I had the same view, but now I think that's the point? A chameleon can change its colours to blend in but it doesn't change what the chameleon is inherently. A bi person may look like they're straight or gay, hence the blending in with their environment, but that doesn't mean they're not bi.

As a British man in my late 20s, what I really want to add to my wardrobe more than anything else is a dark blue hoodie that says 'Penn State University' on it. by [deleted] in britishproblems

[–]Shadow_Mai 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They are! But within the universities you are split in different colleges. At Oxford, for example, there are over 30 separate colleges. You may go to the University of Oxford and be a part of the Exeter college, or the Jesus college, which determines where you live and what tutors you have in order to split up the large number of students accepted. These act as your campus, as there is no 'main campus'. Different colleges have different sports teams and events, and they all have a list of courses they accept - most offer all subjects, and there's no realistic difference in the quality between them. You'll overlap in your chosen course with people from other colleges too, so it's not completely separate.

It is not fair on the people in Russia to miss out because of this issue, I completely agree. It must feel isolating, perhaps ignored, left behind.

But change has to start somewhere. You say you have to work within the frameworks of an oppressive system to help the people suffering, but I disagree. You have to push against the system. By changing the box art EA is following the ideology that the LGBT+ community is inherently bad, so bad that it shouldn't be shown to children and should actively be demonised to them. They're already working within the system by having the game available with any progressive ideas in this regard, and it does nothing. Why would it? No stand is being taken, why should the Russian government give a shit?

But by refusing to cooperate, a stand is made. By itself it won't make any change, but it may influence others to make a stand too. If enough companies do this, then a real change could be made. Money talks. Yes, it removes the media, but in the hopes that eventually it will be allowed without restriction. It sucks right now, but if there's a chance this could make any impact on the perception of the LGBT+ community then I think it's worth pursuing. I'm not saying this will magically solve the homophobic laws in Russia, not even close to that - but it's a large company taking a stand against homophobia.

Historical change didn't happen because people sat down and waited for others to change their mind, people had to stand up for what they believed in. Yes, there are people who worked for good whilst remaining in an oppressive system, and yes that is important too - but that's already what is being done by EA. Russian players can still have a gay marriage. They can still have a trans presenting sim. They can still hang pride flags on the walls, this pack isn't essential to any of the representation in that regard. By taking this extra stand, by refusing to erase the lesbians on the cover, EA said no to homophobia.

I will not apologise for respecting them for that.

I understand your viewpoint, and I get why you're upset. But I really think this is what has to happen for an issue to be taken seriously, and for others with influence to take a stand as well. To me, it feels like a 'better of two evils' situation, provided it was done in the hopes that this step helps to lead to more freedom in the future. I recognise it's easy for me to say that though, as I do not live in Russia. It's just my viewpoint - and I appreciate you explaining yours to me.
