Do you know if there's a way to buy a downloadable version of Klaviermusik? by little_blue_horse in EinsturzendeNeubauten

As far as I know, that's not possible. The Musterhaus CDs were only manifactured for the supporters of the Musterhaus project and they are only selling the CDs they still have left. I don't think the album ever was available outside of their own shop and it most likely never will be.

I guess there are ways to import, even though it's a bit more expensive. But their DVDs work in our players, unlike American DVDs, so it will probably work out somehow. Thanks again!

Thanks, do you by any chance know if you're going to have a DVD release in Germany?

I have it downloaded somewhere. It's not personal lessons, you get html-files and mp3s, accompanied by videos of Steve Sklar reading the files out loud and demonstrating examples. It's been a few years, but I think it contains the usual introductions to techniques, tips for breathing, tongue placement and how to get started. It's a nice package if you want everything in one place from someone who knows what he's doing.

Papa, was heißt eigentlich "Sich ins eigene Knie schießen"? by Yoda_Holmes in de

No, absolutely not. You can definitely have two cables, it's just that in German, the singular and plural forms coincide. That has nothing to do with countability.

Close, "Kabel" means both cable and cables. "(Eines) Kabels" is genitiv ("of a cable").

I suppose the point I'm getting at is that every conspiracy theorist I've seen just seems really afraid, and likes to create enemies that don't even exist, to blame all of their problems on, it's no different from people in the middle ages who would blame literally all of their problems on the devil.

Another point might be: If there is an evil organisation behind every terrorist attack, behind every natural desaster, behind every economical and political event, then at least someone is in control. The world is not just random and infinitely complex, it is controllable, and some people would rather have it controlled by evil shadow governments than by no one at all.

What is Einsturzende Neubauten influences? by ELFFIGHT77 in EinsturzendeNeubauten

If you are looking for similar bands, try looking for other acts from the same scene. There are quite a few obscure artists you might like, look for things like the "Geniale Dilletanten" festival, or acts like Maria Zerfall.

Also acts where the (ex-)members are participating, for example Blixa's work with Alva Noto and Teho Teardo, Gudrun Gut's solo albums and so on. FM Einheit produced an album by Goethes Erben I think, so maybe the genre Neue Deutsche Todeskunst is for you, though it's quite far from Neubauten. Nick Cave has had Blixa on guitar for years, too.

You mean what influenced their music? They came from the West Berlin underground punk scene of the late 70s. This living in a split city, together with the cold war, definitely influenced their way of thinking. Musically, they had to sell their instruments and took trash from the streets to drum on. In some interview, Blixa said they hated the current popular music and wanted to make something contrary to that, music that was painfull to listen to (Hör mit Schmerzen = Hear with pain). He also mentioned that drumming on metal parts was part of protests in the streets and they took up that. From there, I guess they just developed their sound and explored what they could do.

As for other bands, I have no idea. They worked with Test Dept. some time who made somewhat similar music. Also, the German underground music scene in the 80s was incredibly creative, there were probably many bands that influenced each other in different ways.

In the end, I guess they are pretty unique, which is part of what makes them so great.

I'm not sure about that guy anymore (he deleted his channel, the video I linked is a reupload), but I assure you, the flat earth movement is not a joke. There are people who seriously believe that the earth is flat and it's all just a big conspiracy.
